I just received a call from a Mr. Foster saying there was an error on my bank account and that they needed me to read the numbers off the bottom of one of my checks!  I told him he was crazy to think that I would do that and he hung up.

I am the Director of Hospitality for a retirement community in Bridgewater, NJ.  One of my residents came to me today and stated taht this morning she received a phone call from this "Foster", wanting her bank  routing and account number to verify a mistake.

I got a phone call from 123-321-1232, ID'd as Name Unavailable, but claiming to be a security firm whose interest is to prevent scam artists from robbing my bank account.  I asked them "What information do you have concerning one's bank account?"  (Keep in mind that they claimed to have information pertaining specifically to MY bank account.)  The caller replied "Well, we need the numbers that are printed at the bottom of your checks."  I said "The hell you do!  F*** off!"  And I hung up.  To those of you who are naive enough to believe such a caller, NEVER give out the numbers at the bottom of your checks!!!!  This is a scam, and it needs to be reported IMMEDIATELY to your state's Attorney General--AS SOON AS POSSIBLE.

Caller, name unavailable, VOLP 123-321-1232. SAYS HE IS MR FOSTER.TOLD ME THERE IS AN ERROR WITH MY BANK ACCOUNT (PHISHING)WHEN I ASKED HIM WHO HE  WAS  AND WHERE HE WAS FROM HE HUNG UP.  BEWARE!

this caller attempts to get bank numbers from the phone numbers they call
