got a phone call yesterday and this morining told me i got grant for 8000dollars and would deposite in my account if i send them140 for a charity that would be in my name the phone no they gave me to call back is 202-470-2655

Received a phone call from this number and spoke with someone who spoke horrendous, barely intelligible, English (sounded like they had an Indian accent.) The conversation had to do something about grants from the government. However it was obviously a scam. BEWARE!

This is a scam. They caller who had a very poor American / English accent was obviously of middle eastern origin said they were from the US GOV offering a $7,000.00 grant and they were calling from Washington, DC, As I used to Live in Washington, DC there is only one area code for all of Washington, DC and that is (202) and the DC metro area codes for Maryland and Virginia are as follows. The Maryland DC metro area codes are (301), (240) and (443) and the Virginia DC metro area code is (703). Beware. Middle Eastern Scam...

Got this call.  Area code was incomplete on caller id, came 23-478-9856.


Indian accent.  Lots of background conversation noise.  When I wouldn't give him the intended caller (my wife), started threatening to "send C-4 to my house" and "go Al-Queda on me".  It was almost like he was trying to make me upset.  I just laughed at him and asked him his name and why he as calling.  He gave the name "Patrick", w (I was thinking he should have used "Betty" like those Capital One commercials).  He hung up after that so I didn't find out what he was selling.

I got a call tonight from 123 478 9856 They wanted me to give my checking account number and routing number to receive $7000 in grant money from the U.S. government. I'm 99.9% sure this is a fraud and it was not from the U.S. Government. the guy had a very heavy accent and would not give me a call back number. He hung up on me when it was apparent to him I was not going to give him my personal information.

These same people were just months ago "Mark" the investigations officer, "James" the debt/information collector, and "Ron" who was James' supervisor who all called several times a day to harass us about phony debt. They also requested bank account or credit card info to take care of the matter immediately. Just received a phone call today from these same people about a $7,000 grant and wanted the same info. Both times I have reported them to the police. Hopefully someone will be able to track the scum down so the rest of the world can get a little bit of peace.

I answer the call as "Hello Unknown name, hello, hello" and foregin guy came on and screaming at me "Shut the F**K up, F***k you, just shut the f*8k up a**hole" and he hang the phone up. Don't know who or what is all about. did a redail only have a busy signal.

Got the call at 7:22 PM this evening. They left a message that was a little ove a minute in length. Really weird! It was a terrorist threat from a man with a middle eastern accent indicating that my house would be blown up tonight and I would be killed. And he was Osama bin Laden's something or other (it was difficult to make out as it was very poor audio quality). He must have been in a room full of people (like a major telemarketer) as there were a lot of other conversations going on in the background. A little freaky so I reported it to local authorities and sent them an audio recording of the message.

Got a call from this number this morning.  So it's from out of the country...no wonder the area code looked bogus.  I didn't answer it because caller ID said UNKNOWN NAME and, of course,  they didn't leave a message.   But I may answer the next time just to blow off some steam by telling them where to stick their scam!  = c  }

They called me today.  Didn't answer it and thy didn't leave a message.  What a****oles.

There was a lovely message from this # from a woman with an Indian accent who said "What the f*** is this?" and then hung up.

yeah these lousy people just called me a few minutes ago.  They get our phone numbers and such because most of us allow it from the phone  company.  Its really down right scary what you can find by googleing yourself and family.  Even if you don't find the info directly from google, there are lots of public sites that carry, buy, and sell data on the general public.

91-123-478-9856 "Mark", foreign, U.S. Government grant dept, I've been selected to receive $7,000 because I pay my bills and taxes and have no bankruptcy.  He asked me a lot of personal info - age, job, how long in my house...  I gave him all phony info.  I can receive my money within 45 minutes if I give him my bank account or credit card info.  I laughed and told him I wasn't stupid and I knew he was a fraud.  He kept trying to convince me he was ligit.  When I didn't buy it he got childish-trying to copy everything I said, mostly just sounding like blah, blah, blah.  I told him that I had all day to waste as much time as I wanted.  I talked out loud as I searched the internet and was copied.  After awhile he got tired of it and said "I want to f___ you" and hung up.

Got the same script read to me as the rest of the above but was given a JK number with instructions to call 509 207 4315 which is based in Washington apparently. The India fella(James) lol, new my address which irritated me but than gave me a number to call to speak with Ronnie about my $7000 dollar grant. The recording stated i had reached an nonworking number. I should have asked him to deliver the money to my house so i could strap him to my bumper and teach him a lesson. F ing idiots!!!

I got the same call but they said i needed to pay 99.00 dollars first

Got the same call gave them a prepaid card number and she said if I can pay a 200 something fee and the transaction must go thru before I get the 7k I played along to see if i get anymore info then hung up this is an awful scam and they know our addresses  wtf!!!!???

Got a call from 123-478-9856 saying they were from the Treasury Department. It was after 5pm. When does a government official work after 5pm calling the public. The girl calling had a mixed english and caribbean accent so I knew they were not American. I knew then the call had not originated from the US. So, I asked the girl for her phone number and stated I would call her right back. Of course I did not get the number and I hung up.

By the way, when I asked caller her for her number she seemed quite suprised. She hesitated the started to studder and after 5 seconds she said, "I cant do that."

I did not need the entertainment of bsing with thiefs for 25 minutes. My time is more valuable to me;  I found out in 25 seconds.

Got a call from this number today and I didn't recognize the area code so I googled it and got this website that reports that it is a scam. I don't answer phone calls if I don't know the area code. I figure if it's important they can leave a message and I can return the call.

received the when I answer no one was on the line. Called the number back, the phone didnt do not, no a ring or a busy signal.

I got a call asking for my personal information. I knew this was BS so I chuckled a little bit and this crazy woman on the other end began to get real freaky. I reported them to the Federal Department of Grants. They don't seem to care that people are running around claiming to be them and trying to get person banking information. It seems to me that they would want to stop this criminal activity. Not so! and I guess that's why these criminal enterprises are so abundant. Below is the response email I got from the Grant department when I reported this issue. Way to go...

i just got a call from this number. i picked up and nothing at first then i heard some noises and then in a creepy voice it asked for my husband and then i asked whose calling it just hung up on me.. kinda is made me scared. but now i see others got the same number but mines nothing like the others...

Yep, same stuff as above.  These folks are relentless!  They ask only for my husband.  Usually the call has no caller idea, adn this time I got this 123 number show up.  They will call 10 times a day.  I can go on for days with them or hang up.  They are idiots...that's for sure.  What's pathetic is that there is a market for this somewhere or they wouldn't do it.  I'm just not sure how to keep them from calling.  In the last couple weeks, I'll bet I've gotten this same place calling at least 100 times, up to 10 times per day.  Just yesterday, it was 7.  It always seems to be the same person.  I've told them I'm on the Do Not Call Registry, that I know it's a scam, that there is no way they are from the U.S. Government, etc.  It's RIDICULOUS!  Someone should be able to stop this!

I got the call last night and the caller could barely be understood. He said he was from the US Government, that I had been selected for a grant that I would not have to repay. At that point, I stopped him by saying, 'If you are from the US Government, you need to learn how to speak English', then hung I hung up.

i recieved a call from this number and i tripped out so i took it to the limit and the scam is they wnt u to western union $245 to them theyu dnt tell u where right off but they wnt u to rush to it. they call and call just to see if u are going. the money is suppose to be a state to state fee (whatever that is). when they called me bck the third time they said the 7k has started coming from GERMANY. GERMANY?!!!! last i checked thats not part of the US. correct me if im wrong. BEWARE OF THIS!!!!

Sounds like a variation of the Nigerian Email scam where you won some lottery or something and all they needs is your Identity inof to send you a huge some of money

Got a call from this number yesterday and my 12 year old answered it thinking it was a family friend from germany who calls on skype. This person on the other end had a Middle eastern accent and said he was calling from washington dc. Of course my 12 year old started messing with him thinking it was our friend and flustered the guy. The guy asked him if he liked candy and started making some kind of yell that sounded like the stereo typical arab yell. He then told my 12 year old that he was "coming for him"  Thats when i got on the phone but he would not talk to me and hung up.  I had figured out by this time it was not our friend and i figured it was a telemarketer.

Got 2 calls in rapid succession from (123)478-9856, did not answer and no message was left either time. The caller ID said 'Ohio Call'.

I was offered the 7000 dollars also. I told the caller I hate to interrupt while you're reading your script but the US gov't does not call individuals taxpayers to offer grants. She informed me that they didn't want taxpayers to lose the money. I told her I worked for the Dept. of  Treasury and would like to know which branch of the gov't she was affiliated with. She immediately hung up. Beware this is a scam.  The US gov't does not do cold calls for personal identifiable information. Do not give your bank or credit card information.
