THIS IS A SCAM. Read about the your-PC-is-infected scam here http://news.softpedia.com/news/Cold-Call-Tech ... on-150170.shtml They lie about your PC sending out malware, error messages, etc., and say your PC is about to crash to frighten you into giving them remote control of your PC to fix the nonexistent problem (don't let them!). If they ask you to open the systems tab in eventvwr.msc to see all the errors, these harmless errors are *normal* for any Windows PC (mine has several and it runs just fine). Don't let them take control of your PC because they can download *real* malware, possibly a malware suite, that can spam, steal bank logins and personal info, etc. If they've remoted into your PC, the safest fix is to re-format your drive and re-install your OS assuming you have clean backups of your data. You can try scanning with various antivirus software but scanning may not find all the malware. If you don't know how, get help from friends or pay a local shop to do it. THIS IS A SCAM.

I had a call from Microsoft windows service centre but in fact they were ?Support on click?.
01274 900 834 Support On Click - DO NOT THINK THEY ARE SAFE ? DO NOT LET THEM LOG ON TO YOUR PC!!!
They called and said that they were calling from Microsoft windows service centre and that they could see that I had security problems on the PC - they took me to various areas of my PC to show me the location of the "malicious files" that they could ?see?. All in all I spoke to 4 people all to make me believe that I had problems and that they would need to log on to my PC ? they took me to a ?log me in? page, provided a registration number that would hand over access to one of their technicians ? thankfully I did not go through with it and took a telephone number to call back whilst I investigated ? found this forum and I?m SO GLAD!!! Especially seeing the others on this link who have been charged £250!!!  Only risk is that whilst they already had my name and number I did give them my e-mail address. I suspect I will get more calls from them but at least now I am prepared to deal with their call.
Hopefully more people will find this thread before they provide details. There should be something more we can do... I can?t even find a number to speak to someone at Microsoft windows.
