I had a dodgie sounding message left about a "private matter" with this phone number, got on google and found this, I had no idea when people had said GE (even though I have a GE card) but when I saw 28 degrees it made sense, I books overseas accommodation on it yesterday, call the number on my card not this one just incase and after taking forever to get through that is exactly what it was about

Definitely legitimate! I got a message on my home phone from a lady at GE Money to call this number back. I did ring the number and it said GE Fraud but I hung up and called the number of my card just in case. Once 28 degrees verified the charge was suspicious they transferred me to fraud and I was put to the same lady that left my voicemail (I won't mention name). So don't be scared about this, it is definitely legitimate and in your best interest. I didn't get an SMS because my mobile was not registered, hence they called my home phone. I've asked them to change that and they said from now on I will get a call to mobile and/or SMS. Home phone will be backup.

This is legitimate! I got the text (below) on my phone just now. I thought it was a scam as I have a 28 Degrees Credit Card and knew nothing about GE Money. So I called GE Money (1300 882 289) and the fraud department confirmed that they indeed HAD put a block on my 28 Degrees Credit Card because of an (out of the ordinary but legitimate) transaction I'd done online. Apparently GE Money are the managers of the 28 Degrees cards. I confirmed that the charge was legitimate and they took the temporary block off my card and all is working again.
This was the text:
"The GE Money Fraud team have identified suspicious activity on your account and have blocked your card as a precaution. Please call 1300305884 to discuss."
I never did phone the number in the text but used the 1300 882 289 number to get to GE Money instead (which was on their website).

I don't have any form of Credit whatsoever, therefore why would I be advised to contact them regarding potential fraud when I don't have any existing accounts with any credit companies????
Seems like a scam to me, or a case of mistaken mobile phone number!

This number is real! I got a voicemail, called 28 Degrees directly and they were calling to sort out fraud on my account. If I ignored it I would have been out $2.5k!

Got an SMS asking me to call this number. I called my credit card company instead (28 degrees, subsidary of GE Money), and it was indeed legitimate.

It's legit. Just checking on some of my transactions...

Having said that though, i highly recommend being connected via the number on the back of your card.

The number is not a scam. It is directly connected to the Fraud sector of GE.

Just got a call from this number. She said "You can call the number on the back of your card" - I didn't trust her. Be careufl with this number. I am ringing GE now. I will update as to whether this call is a scam or not

they always call and when we pick up no one is ever there.

re 'Danny's' comment - Credit card companies/banks will NEVER email you to notify you of things like suspected fraud. What a joke.

this is a SCAM!! began speaking to my mother about my account (which i dont have?) while i wasnt home...told my mum to call them back on 1300 305 884 as they wanted to 'update my details.' Yeah, right. SCAM! Clearly the above two comments have been made by people who work for this scam...

Yea that number is legitimate. Called number on back to confirm. They wanted to alert me of possible fraud.

Got an email from the gemoney fraud department about my credit card, and this number was included in it (but not on the back of the card). Called the wizard number on the back of the card and they confirmed that it's a bona fide number direct to the fraud team.
You should probably give them a call, because they were calling to alert me of a potential fraud risk on my card.

I just got a call from this number too, she said she was from the GE Money Fraud Department and asked for my account details. However once she asked for my Password I felt uncomfortable and said I would not give out this information as she could be anyone. She then told me to call back the GE number on the back of my card and get them to put me through to Fraud Control. So I just did that and they told me Fraud Control wasn't even open today. Hmmmm. Glad I didn't give over too many details there.
