yes did recieve two phone calls today same number , there should be away that we can stop this annoying calling

Got a call from this number 4 times today...started at 8am on a Saturday in 847 area code...hang-up, hang-up, "good-bye", then we talked to a (very rude!) Mark who said we filled out a card at a mall (bull crap!)...Said the company was Global Connections...Sounds like a phone slam and Mark was definetely from India or Pakistan.  DO NOT SAY the word "Yes"

I just received call from this number. Could not understand him other than "Buffalo NY"  something about something discovery and then he said OK? OK? I said no I didn't know who he was and he said "I told you Buffalo, NY (something) discovery OK?  Then I told him again NO I don't know who you are and hung up!

I had the same thing. 4 calls now in like 15 minutes. Some went straight to dial tone, and one was a computer voice "goodbye". I'm also in the 608 area code.

Got foir calls in one day, Didn't answer any of them,

I received 4 calls today from this number in less than 10 mins. Says "good bye" and hung up..very annoying...can anything be done against this nuisance ?

Received a call from this number this afternoon, no voice when we picked up.  Curious which area code everyone else getting this call is in - we're in 608.  Everyone above mentions central time zone.

I received this call today. I answered, they hung up. They called again a few minutes later. I did not answer. then they called again, I answered and got a "goodbye".  I returned the call, no answer.

The caller ID says "Clarence Cen NY".

Then I decided to go online and google the number. I hope I don't get billed for the call I placed. I will let you know if I do!

Other than that, I have no idea what it is about.

Just got 3rd call at 5:40 CDT. It went to Voice Mail but no message. Caller ID shown on this and previous two calls - time CDT - showed "Unavailable"

Call 8 Aug 2011 @5 pm CST 2-3 rings. Answered call but apparently already dropped. Second call 15" later; 2-3 rings; did not answer..

The Caller ID on our phone said "Clarence Cen NY"

We got a call from this number and immediately received an automated message that just said  "goodbye" and then they hung up.

Got two calls from 1-171 today.  The first hung up before I could answer, but I saw the number in caller ID, the 2nd time a computer voice said "good-bye", so my call log trapped the number in the history, which was 1-171-640-6441  I did a search and found this posting, which appears to be about 5yrs old, but still helpful since it's about 1-171...

So I would not call them back, as their phone carrier will decide what the rates are, and bill your carrier, who in turns bills you.  Looks like a scam to pump up phone bills, or worse (randomly dial hoping to get a computer to answer, to then hack it).
