Just to warn you guys of a possible scam that I think I have just fallen for. I'm absolutely kicking myself that I have fallen for this. I have just called my credit card fraud department and they say that they may not be fraudsters but they probably are shysters. I am usually so careful abou things like this and was actually suspicsious from the off, but still, like a mug I went through with it.

Ok so I got a call this afternoon from BCRS, saying they were part of Claimmanagementuk.co.uk.
They said that they got my number from O2 who I had recently taken a phone contract out with which is true.
They said that they offer a service to get back all your bank charges etc, as im sure you've read about.
They asked me some details about charges etc over the past 6 years, did some calculations and estimated I should get back approximately £1000 plus 8% interest on top. They said that they do not keep any of the reclaimed cash, and that they charge a £79.99 admid fee for the claims pack as it contains purpose letters drawn ip by solicitors etc. They asked me a few questions, address etc, then my alarm bells went off when they said I would need a password, and that they suggest that I use my date of birth as it is easy to remember. At this point I said I would rather not give out my date of birth can I give another number, so i gave them my house number.

I then had a few more questions, saying I would rather not pay anything up front untiL i had checked them out, they said they would send me a text message with their website address, and also a link to the claimsregulations government website where I could enter their company reg number and confirm they were regulated. She then said she would call me back in an hour or so once I had had the chance to look.

I then said ok come to think of it, im sure I heard that a case had been to court, and that no banks would pay any charges back until this had all been resolved (including probably appeals etc) they advised that this is just what the banks are saying, and that if you use them and their properly formed legal docs and legal back up you should get your money back in about 6-12 weeks, and that they had a 100% success rate so far, if i didnt get it back I would get a refund of the admin fee.

So i got home, checked out the website and the government website, and they seemed pretty genuine, the company reg number checked out, they did indeed show up on the government site etc.

So when they called back, I thought fair enough I will give it a try

I then received a quality control call to confirm all the details, they came to my date of birth and she read out the house number and said that cant be right, what is your date of birth...

But then I told myself, hang on, how do I know that they are actually that company?!?!

So i checked the text messages that they had sent me. One had the company details and website details on, then there was another one saying that the £79.99 would be debited within the next couple of days and would show as claimmanagementuk, and that I needed to complete the pink form and return it to them. It also provided a customer service telephone number. So I googled it....... and it was the number for the Christian Advice Service...

I also noticed that they had spelt a couple of the words incorrectly, they had out cliams managmetn,

So I thought holy ship, I cnat believe I have fell for this after all my original caution (and the fact that i work for a bank doing a job where i do credit and fraud checks  )

First off I called my card companies lost and stolen cards number, I was expecting to have been wiped out, but they had indeed taken out the £79.99 admin fee, and the payment had indeed gone out to claimsmanagement uk in swansea, which is where the company was registered. They put a freeze on the account just incase, and advised me to phone their fraud number. They guy on fraud pretty much said he doubts they are fraudsters and the transaction looks genuine, and is under the name of the company they claimed they were, and that they may be shysters, but they probably haven't commited any crime.

Either way I have this sneaky fealing I am not going to see the £79.99 back, or any bank charges back soon.

They may be genuine, but too much doesnt add up there. Just a warning if you get this call... I will post if there are any updates. The number on the claimsmanagementuk.co.uk website is totally different to the one they provided me on the text, so I am going to give them a call tomorrow and see if they know anything about it.

I got a missed call on Wednesday
I have an O2 iphone which was purchased in December on a new account that so far has never been used to make or receive any voice calls.  I don't even know the number myself.  They must be trawling numbers or getting them from o2.  But if they were trawling wouldn't you expect to find some other network users listed here!
