Someone from this number (1800180200 showing as overseas) called me at 3 pm, I answered and said hello 6 times before I got a loud squeal and the phone disconnected.
I am on the DNC list for our government, and should not receive these calls.

One time I had an Asian sounding lady calling from one of these "windows" companies, and after a few minutes of - I dont have a windows computer -- and her calling me a liar and saying everyone has a computer.... I put my just turned adult son on  ( he has a wicked sense of humour) and he asked her IF he went and bought one would she ring him back cos she sounded hot... and asked her what she was wearing...

she hung up on him after calling him a pervert.

Received four calls from this number, answered the last one, guy with Indian accent claims he has my IP address and records that it's been hacked. He said to go and turn on my computer, I told him we don't have a computer (we do but they are work laptops) he then said he knows I'm lying. My hackles stood up. Told him again I don't have a computer, he called me a liar and hung up.

Received 2 calls this morning from 80-018-0200.  Caller id said "Unknown Name".  I was suspicious of the number; I mean seriously people.  If you're going to try to scam someone at least learn to spoof the caller id.  You're an embarrassment to the low-life scammers of the world.  Anyway, I Googled the number and wasn't surprised that 800notes.com was the first entry (I do like this site as it makes me feel better that I'm not the only person being bothered by this crap).

This guy with an Asian accent rang and held up the phone line even though I picked up the receiver and hung up several times. When he didn't let go, I asked him to hang up now and he said he has important information regarding my computer. I said he was a fake and that I will give his number to so many authorities that he won't have a job when has has finished. He told me where to go in no uncertain terms and then he eventually hung up. What are the authorities doing about these losers?

Got a call from this guy today. Indian accent, noisy background, said his name was Andy from Microsoft and that my computer had been infected with a virus. When I questioned him, he became defensive. When I told him I was not going to give him any information he became very pushy and insistent that I listen to him. He said that if my computer crashed it wasn't his fault.
I have had three more calls from the same number today. I do not intend to answer them. Thanks for all the posts. Reassuring to know my instincts were correct.

I don't answer calls from numbers I don't recognize, especially 180 area code.  My answering machine picked up. Male voice saying hello a couple of times with a lot of background noise. Is there someplace I should report this number?

I have had 4 calls in three days this week, but have had them numerous times before, always an east Indian voice so suspect calls are coming from a call centre in Mumbai or Pakistan.  They always say I have problems with my windows.  I innocently tell them my window are fine.  They tell me it is my computer windows.  I tell them I don't have a computer.  They persist.  I tell them it is a scam and of course no, no ma'am it is no scam.  I hang up.  My friend told me to say the call is being recorded as the police are trying to catch them.  She said she said this and scared the heck out of them and they hang up.  Have also received the recording of silence and then "goodbye".  Phone number on the blocked calling list does not seem to help either.  I may be a retired senior but these calls are an intrusion and a damn nuisance.

These yahoos (being polite here) called 6 times yesterday...always a hangup or a recorded "Goodbye".

Sure, and goodbye to you to, if I could only get rid of you.  They use the same phone number every time, but a slightly different caller ID - always starts with V1290 and ends with 00008.  I did get one legit call from Mike Wilson, tech department at Microsoft.  Hahaha.  Same spiel, after asking how I was.  Infected computer..blahblahblah..I told him I didn't even have a computer.  That shut him up.  I figure one lie cancels another, right?

I received a call from a woman from this number who spoke broken English and said she was with Windows.  She said they were receiving an error message from my computer and wanted me to turn my computer on.  I questioned how they had my home number when I only use my cell number on everything and she hung up.

Prank Call
Got a call from this number today at 12:49 pm. The man said he was with the Microsoft Windows Tech Dept. and he was calling because I have a virus on my computer. His accent sounded like he was from India. He wanted me to go get on my computer and he would help me remove the virus. I started laughing at him and told him that I wasn't about to fall for this stupid scam. He told me I was very smart, and I told him to call somebody else to try and hack in to their computer and have a nice day!

Prank Call
I got a call this afternoon from an East Indian sounding fellow who told me he was calling from Microsoft about my computer problems.  I told him I was aware of this scam and to go to hell, he cursed at me in some unintelligible language (probably Urdu).  I told him that I was with the RCMP (although I am not) and that I was putting a trace on his
call and would be contacting the authorities in India as I had his home address.  He hung up!

I have a Panasonic phone system which allows me to block up to 60 phone numbers and he is now added.  The number came up as V1202334240 80-018-0200.

I keep them on the phone for as long as possible, and play as dumb as possible. When they get to the point to download "Teamviewer" or "Ammyy" and ask me what is on the screen I tell them what I see is "You are a scam artist". They then ask, "Who told you that?". I have several replies to that question. Some of them involve the caller's sister. I do that because of what they have called me often when they realize I am not going to allow them access to my computer.

Knowledge is the only solution to this problem. Tell all your friends to hang up or keep them on the line as long as possible. It is one form of entertainment for me. "Don't get mad. Get even"

It?s always the same fake Microsoft Windows Tech Dept. calling trying to prove there is spy and hacks in your computer and try?s to sell you a fix thru their Ammyy website which is a fake designed to hack your info and get into your computer thru backdoor and virus. This has been an old scam going on for very long time, they are using spoofed #'s so you can?t really track them back to any location, their website is loaded with virus's and hidden sponges sucking in any info they can get, and if you totally fall for the scam they can even charge your credit card to "remove" your virus's and spyware. They seem to all be from Middle East areas, India, Pakistan, Iraq, Iran, etc. Any way you look at it, its cyber terrorists, any $ or info they can get out of you is more than you think to them. Keep in mind these are the people we outsource telemarketing and customer service phone jobs too for pennies per hour, if they able to scam $100 a day thru this then they are making decent money for their whole company in their part of the world. There are no laws to protect us from this outside our country, there are many fishing scams by phone and internet and it all really a numbers games, eventually someone will fall for it, FCC/FBI/POLICE non of them can help, consumer and public education about this is the only defense we have, tell your friends, neighbors, co-workers, anyone and everyone you know, eventually they will give up.

Prank Call
Had several calls from this number in the last several days.  Kept ignoring it but my husband finally answered.  Same story, said he had a virus that was sending out emails and wanted him to go to his computer and open a file.  My husband started laughing at the guy and said he didn't think so and the guy hung up!  So, perhaps if you laugh at them they go away.  Or my back up plan is to get one of those canned horns that you see at some games!  That would fix em!
