Keep getting calls from this number saying they are from Microsoft, saying they want to help me get rid of malware on my computer, I told her I knew she was a scammer and she got real nasty with me, they have been calling for several months!!

Caller stated our computer was running slow, and we had all kinds of malware and spyware on it. Fortunately, my husband just hung up on him. He had some kind of an accent.

I was working on my friends computer today, and the antivirus software he has blocked some malware. 30 minutes later, a man called the 180 number with a THICK Hindi accent. My friend told him "hold on, let me hand you to my tech," and handed me the phone. The Hindi guy tells me he's with Microsoft and that there was a virus infecting the computer & was broadcasting my info all over the internet. I let him talk for a minute then told him I was going to call Microsoft myself before going any further. He was all but begging me not to, saying he could verify that he was with Windows, etc. I had to laugh since he never gave me a name or anything! LOL! What an idiot! He's not even a GOOD scammer. FYI, Microsoft NEVER calls people.

Got no less than 5 calls from these people today. Obviously, they wanted me to allow them access to my computer. (have more than one). When they could not answer any of my questions , they started calling me "MF" etc.; and when I hung up, they continued to call back and swear at me. Never did identify who they were with, other than Microsoft.

SCAM: These guys called me up, told me there were 'hacking files' on my computer and wanted me to install a remote desktop from ammyy.com onto my machine and then connect to their server. Unfortunately, I only have a Mac so couldn't actually follow through to see what server they wanted me to connect to.

Called by a man with an accent so thick I could hardly understand him. Said he was from Microsoft and needed to fix error messages on my computer. Kept telling me to just listen to him very rudely. Wanted to get into my computer. I hung up.

I too am getting these calls but no one is there when I answer. Good to know others are like me. I'm just going to let it go to voice mail. They hang up anyway.

Received call from "John" with a heavy accent telling me I had problems with my computer. That my computer was compromised! I am very computer illiterate and became very worried. He told me to allow him to take control of my computer. Stupid me beleiving what he was telling me I allowed him. He was going through all different screens. Then they tried to sell me different packages for protecting and fixing my computer. Prices where 149.00 for two years 249.00 for three years and 349.00 for lifetime protection. He then insisted to open a PayPal account. When I hesitated he wanted me to talk to his supervisor to try and talk me into it. They pulled up my old PayPal account that was shared with my now deceaced friend. Trying to get me to log in and I had thought I closed that account back in 2008. So then where instructing me to change my password and put money into this account. Then my friend came into the room. She was telling me it was a scam! She took the phone and was asking who they where and what their real names are. Then demanded a supervisor! Again another person with heavy accent said his name was "Sam"! So she demanded them to get out of the computer immediately! They backed out and closed everything. In the mean time they told her to go to hell and I don't want to repeat what she said in return. So she hung up and they proceeded to call back to harass three times. They eventually stopped calling.

Just got a call from these guys. Total joke. I asked for their website address and he said he was not authorized to give this!!! Then he called back 10 minutes later asking why we weren't going to let him hack our computer. He was VERY aggressive so ended up hanging up.

I just got a call, they asked for my husband. Since the number on caller ID is obviously a spoof - I let him give his spiel and said WOW, I can't believe that Windows would call me about that. ESPECIALLY SINCE I HAVE A F***ING MAC!

The best way to be safe is to ignore and block the call. Believing the fraud or frauds on the other end is what continues the scam.

They keep calling. I called the 424-256-3700 number, told him to stop calling, told him he had my number and to delete it from their auto dial... and he wanted information from me I denied giving him info, he hung up. I called back and told him I would call him back everytime they called me He didn't seem to like that. Had thick accent.. not southern USA either.

SCAM!! These guys had been calling me several weeks ago; I had looked it up on here and saw they were no good; they called me this morning (the number is sometimes weird- not having enough digits to be a real number- or its the 180- that thows me off), anyhow I answered this morning and some guy I could barely understand due to his Eastern accent told me he was from some computer security company and that my computer was sending out personal info over the net; I tried to get him to tell me what info- he just said bank and other personal info, and he diverted, not wanting to answer, and wanted me to get onto the computer. I of course did not and challenged him saying that he was probably a fraud I also asked why the phone number was weird; he said that was due to him calling me on a satellite phone (really?), but he gave me his name and a number to call ( ) saying to call and verify everything, lol, so I did and I swear it was the same darn guy I was just talking to!!, he verified who they were (can't remember the company name...) and I asked him the same question about the phone # that I asked the last guy, and he told me that it was because they were calling from an IP address and not an actual phone (Gotcha!!). I said thanks, hung up and when the 'other' guy called me back I called his bs and told him not to call me again and to remove me from thier list. THEN..... couple hours later, they called me back!!! (same #) (These guys are relentless!!), this time claiming they were from Windows.... Not the company they originally told me earlier today..... I called this guys bs right away and told him that I sincerely doubted that he is with Windows Corp.; he tried to talk over me and I stopped him telling him he needed to listen to me and once I got him to say; yes I'm listening, I told him that they were all a scam, that if they called me one more time I would report them to the BBB; I actually went off on the guy for half a minute and it felt pretty darn good. Anyhow don't give in to these type of guys..... NEVER give out your Info unless YOU initiate a transaction; remember your bank, cell phone company, utilities, even online merchants like e-bay and Amazon will NEVER ask you to confirm your personal information!!!, if you are worried tell them you will hang up with them and call them back, and do so but only from a trusted number from a phone book or one of your verified contact Numbers, not a number that they give you. Be Safe, Protect Your Families

THIS IS A SCAM. Read about the your-PC-is-infected-corrupted scam here http://news.softpedia.com/news/Cold-Call-Tech ... on-150170.shtml They lie about your PC sending out malware, error messages, etc., and say your PC is about to crash to frighten you into giving them remote control of your PC to fix the nonexistent problem (don't let them!). If they ask you to open the systems tab in eventvwr.msc to see all the errors, these harmless errors are *normal* for any Windows PC (mine has several and it runs just fine). Don't let them take control of your PC because they can download *real* malware, possibly a malware suite, that can spam, steal bank logins and personal info, etc. If they've remoted into your PC, the safest fix is to re-format your drive and re-install your OS assuming you have clean backups of your data. You can try scanning with various antivirus software but scanning may not find all the malware. If you don't know how, get help from friends or pay a local shop to do it. THIS IS A SCAM.

Caller claims to be a Microsoft service technician. Caller calls to inform us that we are uploading illegal files from a Microsoft OS computer. The tech wants access into our computers to fix the problem. Sounds like a scam to place malware or some kind of tracking device on our PCs. Funny, I use Lenux OS.
