The idiot from India called us at 10:06 pm-started to spout that "calling about your computer" stuff so I said if you call again I'll call the police and hung up.  Fortunately I guess they understood that!

If you can't or don't want to block them any other way, you might try saying this the next time they call:

"You don't mind that I'm recording this call, do you?  All calls to this number get recorded."

That will probably get most scammers to stop -- they HATE being recorded.  You don't actually need to be recording the call.  Just the thought that they may be being recorded may be enough.

Okay this 180-180-1800 number is pissing me off ... they called 4 times tonight and as others mention state they are Microsoft and I have issues with my computer. I ask them to take me off their call list and to quit calling ... last call tonight was 10:30pm, other calls just today 8:49, 8:10, 7:28 ... plus I have been receiving calls from them almost daily for the past month. They are persistent SCAMMERS. Don't let them into your computer and don't allow any popups that say you have a virus and just click here so we can help fix it ... SCAM. What can we do to Protect ourselves and STOP this HARASSMENT? Somebody out there do you have a number or address of where we could call / write to report this harassment ... and yes it is someone from another country calling who speaks English with a very very strong accent. SCAMMERS .. UGGHHH

Soooo frustrated and nobody seems to be able to do anything about this! My experience has been the same as everyone elses except I didn't let them have access to my computer. After a few calls and some choice words I am now getting the call every night was starting at 11:30 pm and has been getting later, was 2 am this morning! This has been going on for over a week! What can be done?

At 10:24pm some woman with an Indian accent called.  After saying "Hello" and waiting for a few seconds, she said "Hello, Muum."  I thought she said "mom", and I asked who was calling me at 10:30 at night.  She replied, "I'm sorry, Muum, this is Jennifer, and this is an urgent call about your computer."  I asked what she was talking about.  She said, "Ma'am, do you have a computer?"  I could hear many other voices in the background, some saying something about Microsoft.  At this time I hung up.  I've received calls at night from this number in the past, but no one was ever on the line.

Seriously these idiots need to stop. I unplugged my phone cause they keep calling at 11:45 or midnight. I don't answer, but always wake up thinking there is an emergency with a family member cause no one in their right mind calls that late.

I suspect these calls originate in either Pakistan or India. I received a call at 11:30 last night and asked the guy where he was calling from. New York City, he said, but then couldn't tell me what the time was there or what the weather was like, so I asked him what the weather was like in Pakistan. After I'd taught him a few   English words and phrases that defy translation, he hung up on me.

DONT DO IT...HUGE SCAM. Just received a phone call at 11:20 pm from someone claiming they were from Internet Explorer and that they had received error msg's from my comp. Said they were based in NY. He tried to get me to turn on my comp so he could "show me the problems" on it. I promptly told him that wouldn't be happening bc I had recieved a similar call 2 weeks ago. Except 2 weeks ago, i was the idiot who got duped.

Here's the story: Despite the fact that I had Norton and an anti-malware software installed, my comp was telling me there was some kind of virus on it. Coincidentally, a few days later is when these a***oles from "Microsoft" called. It had already been a very long and emotional day, and when he called at 10:30 at night to tell me he had been receiving msg's from my comp that it had a virus, I naively believed him. (Side note: the anti-malware software had been installed through a phone conversation and me allowing the guy to have access to my comp so actually, at first, I thought it was those guys).

So I (stupidly) gave them access and the guy proceeds to "show me" all the viruses on my comp. Now, I don't know computers so I just had to accept what he was saying. Then he says that in order to remove them, I'd need to purchase some software, starting at $149 for 1 yr. at this point, i had realized something seemed fishy and said that I was not going to make any decisions at that time (keep in mind, it was now after 11 pm), I was "warned" (threatene in hindsight) that my comp could stop working at any time and that what happens is that this virus will, without warning, require a password to start. We went back and forth a few times but I held my ground and said I wasn't willing to do anything at that moment. Welll...we hang up, he restarts my comp on me instead of just removing his access, and low and behold, upon restart my comp needed a password. A***oles. I was LIVID. I immediately called them back and they gave me some password to put in so they could access it again, and told me the only way I would be able to use it again would be to buy the software. HUUUUUGE SCAM. I almost fell for it. Almost bought it bc at that point, i felt like they had backed me into a corner. I felt very helpless and stuck. Thankfully, my credit card security info wasnt being accepted. These guys were rude to me, hung up on me, and began yelling at me when I wouldn't do as they said. They even called back the next night to try to convince me again.

This was two weeks ago and I haven't had access to my comp since. Thankfully, i had had it backed up onto an wxternal hard drive a few months ago and hadnt put anything too important on there. I've now decided to buy a Mac Pro. F*** this virus b***s***, f*** "Microsoft" and "Internet explorer" calling...they have now lost my business thanks to these do***ebags!

Received call at 10 pm; caller ID showed the number.  I accepted and quickly ended call.  Second time call from this purported number.  Noted the first time that it didn't go on my answering service.  I also previously received a call from someone purporting to be from Microsoft.  When I asked the caller some pointed questions, he quickly hung up.

Scam! Big pain in butt, won't stop calling. Sometimes get the female with indian accent saying my computer's been sending error message, sometimes nothing.  Have already told them I know it's BS and not to bother calling, but still being bothered.  I would love it if they were caught, but unfortunately that probably won't happen and they'll reel some person in.
