I received a call from this number at 9:30 AM on Wednesday January 30, 2013.

The call was intercepted by a software program called "PhoneTray", which allows me to filter and screen unwanted calls, by routing an extension of my phone line into a modem in my computer.

As such, PhoneTray intercepted this bogus phone call, answered the line and played The standard phone company audio recording "We're sorry. You have reached a number that has been disconnected or is no longer in service. Please check the area code and the number and try your call again."
The program provides a lot of different audio recordings to choose from.
The recording that I used to answer incoming calls from 800 numbers is nifty.
It is a professional announcer saying "We do NOT accept telemarketing calls. Please remove us from your call list as required by federal law".

Using the software, you can block entire area codes from being able to call your phone.
However, I find it more useful to block entire number values.

For instance, if I wanted to block ALL telephone numbers originating from any area code starting with the number 4, I would have to enter all possible 3-digit area codes into the program, manually; 400, 401, 402, 403 etc., eventually having to input all 999 possible combinations of area codes beginning with the number 4.
By eliminating the number value by one or two orders of magnitude, I can wipe out much greater areas with a few keystrokes, and instruct the program to block ALL calls from any number beginning with any area code that starts with the number 4.

In South Texas, (I live in San Antonio) the two main area codes are 210 and 830. The only calls I expect to receive at my home are from numbers originating within these two area codes, so I have blocked all other numbers by eliminating the entire number value, except 2 and 8.
For all of the other area codes that are possible, beginning with 2 and 8, I block those specifically that have been a problem, and will input additional ones as the need arises.

God Bless PhoneTray!

I use a paid, registered version of the program, called PhoneTray Pro, which costs $29.00, but you can get a free version of the program!
Go to this website and try it out for yourself: www.phonetray.com

I used the free version for almost a year, before I decided to buy the Pro version.
It has changed my life!
They are adding new features all the time to keep up to speed with their customer's wants and needs.
When I emailed the company to ask some technical questions about the software, I got a same-day response from a real human being!

How did I find out about PhoneTray?

I read about it on THIS website (800notes.com) by reading comments from other users who were trying to find out who was placing unwanted calls!

Good luck!

Has called several times, over a period of two months.
Never leaves a message, and the "area code" of 187 does not exist, so obviously the Caller ID label is spoofed.
