I got a call from this number which is supposedly an "Adam Smith" from Criminal something of FDC. He had a very thick Indian accent and was very loud with his message telling me to call him regarding a legal matter.  Must be a scam. I got another call from someone who sounded similar with a different name.

got a call around 4:30 pm, all i heard was a loud tv heard in the backgroud, i said hello? and i heard one heavy breath, then the caller hung up. very creeped out, and reading the other stories isn't helping.

It may be hard to tell the difference between a legitimate debt collector and a fake one. Sometimes a fake collector may even have some of your personal information, like a bank account number. A caller may be a fake debt collector if he:

?is seeking payment on a debt for a loan you do not recognize;
?refuses to give you a mailing address or phone number;
?asks you for personal financial or sensitive information; or
?exerts high pressure to try to scare you into paying, such as threatening to have you arrested or to report you to a law enforcement agency.

If you think that a caller may be a fake debt collector:

?Ask the caller for his name, company, street address, and telephone number. Tell the caller that you refuse to discuss any debt until you get a written "validation notice." The notice must include the amount of the debt, the name of the creditor you owe, and your rights under the federal Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.

If a caller refuses to give you all of this information, do not pay! Paying a fake debt collector will not always make them go away. They may make up another debt to try to get more money from you

.?Stop speaking with the caller. If you have the caller's address, send a letter demanding that the caller stop contacting you, and keep a copy for your files. By law, real debt collectors must stop calling you if you ask them to in writing.
?Do not give the caller personal financial or other sensitive information. Never give out or confirm personal financial or other sensitive information like your bank account, credit card, or Social Security number unless you know whom you're dealing with. Scam artists, like fake debt collectors, can use your information to commit identity theft ? charging your existing credit cards, opening new credit card, checking, or savings accounts, writing fraudulent checks, or taking out loans in your name.

?Contact your creditor. If the debt is legitimate ? but you think the collector may not be ? contact your creditor about the calls. Share the information you have about the suspicious calls and find out who, if anyone, the creditor has authorized to collect the debt.

?Report the call. Contact the FTC and your state Attorney General's office with information about suspicious callers. Many states have their own debt collection laws in addition to the federal FDCPA. Your Attorney General's office can help you determine your rights under your state's law.

They have called me several times from number 200-000-0000 claiming I owe for a online loan from 2012, for $300.00.  I have never heard of the compamy they claim I borrowed from.  they are threating to call my job a lot of time to harrase me.

Do not answer it's a scam! Some guy with an Indian accent called, left a message to call another number which is a "legal agency" with my Social Security number...yea right! Call blocked!

Just got called from 1-200-000-0000 I answered the phone because it's 5:00am in the morning, I that it was a emergency but to my surprise it was not. It was a company that sells a internet program that clings your computer. The Indian man from Uk said to me; I see that your comp is having problems an needs to be tacking care of right now. At first I was relief that no one in my family was hurt, then I be came made I said;
Why are you calling at 5:00am in the morning? Because your comp has a virus on it and I need to purchase there product to clean my comp. (My comp is Off I was asleep) I told him that I have a apple and it has no problems on it, and Why call at 5:00am in the morning? He said who cares.
I said Why Call At 5:00am In The Morning?
That is when he hung up.......

Caller keeps calling my job and telling me to enjoy the calls.

Got a VM from another idiot with an strong Indian accent wanting to talk about a legal matter.  He claims he is from the FDIC.  LOL!  Blocked call number

They also claimed to have my social security number and that they will call my job if I don't call them back.

I just got this call as well it was a man with an Indian Voice, said his name was Michael Kane. claiming to have an "important business matter" didn't identify the company name just from a "finance company" tried to transfer me I said I don't know who you are and hung up. The call was hard to under stand and static. After hanging up they called back 3 more times and left voicemails with the same wording. A phone number that I couldn't make out over the static on the line.

Between 2:32 and 3:17 this afternoon, this number called my cell phone 48 times!!  There were 2 messages left in all that time and it is a male with a heavy Indian accent saying that my social security number will be "lost" and I will be arrested if I don't respond ASAP!  He then began calling my place of employment and when he was asked to quit calling, he said he would keep on until they let him talk to me!  He claims he is with some legal service!  I have received multiple calls from other numbers, but it is this same guy and he uses a different name every time he calls!  SCAM!!!!   BEWARE!!!

200-000-0000 just left a voicemail, some foreigner stating he works for the fdic

Just received a call from this number. A man with a bad accent calling from Microsoft about my computer. I hung up.

Woken by phone call from 200-000-0000 I answered the 2nd time they called only  to find an East Indian Lady saying she was from some support system. I said it is early here. Goodbye. They didn't call again.

The number 2026979942 keeps calling every 5 to 10 minutes for about 30 minutes. Don't know who this is.almost answered it thinking it might be family because caller I.d. says wireless caller.

Received calls beginning around 6:00 AM, also 2026979942. Was a man with poor english claiming I had been selected by the U.S. government to receive $6500, all I had to do was claim it with some of my personal information.

Yes, I just got one and live in FL also.  I am SOOOOO SICK of SCAM CALLERS!  I'm blocking them on my cell #.

(200) 000-0000 have call me over and over again. I answer it they  said the government want to give me 750.00. I said send me information in the mail he said no they can't do that. But want my bank account or cedit  card information.  I hang up on those fools. First than a weird number. You can't call back. This fools got a thick a** accent.  BEWARE POEPLE. I know I work hard for my money. I be damn some fool try to take it.

Debt Collection

i got a call from this number "there was some strange voice and she was saying that my computer is bla...bla..bla . I really didnt understand her. I just said bye :)

That and if you know someone stationed in the military anywhere from Kuwait to Iraq they could be calling you

Sometimes this number can show up because it is someone calling from a prison with a calling card.  So if you know anyone that is in jail or prison it could be them trying to contact you.

Got a call at 7:48 this evening asking for someone who doesn't live here.  I informed the caller that they had the wrong number The caller said her name was Lisa from Bank of America and asked for my name.  Lisa said she'd take my number off her calling list (but it will take three days) and gave me 877-447-3990 to call if I receive any calls after the three day period.

Got a call from this number at 6pm.... Didn't answer because I didn't recognize the phone number! No message left...

I recieve random calls from 200-000-0000 I live in Michigan.  Goes to voice mail 2 second.  Almost sounds like a start of a female voice then ends.  If answered it hangs up. Could it be skype?

I've been receiving daily calls from this number for over a week; two calls just this morning. It is obviously a forged number so I haven't been answering and there is no message left on my machine.

i have gotten several calls from this 200-000-0000 and the man named dale dixon says i have been sent a summons to go to court and they will stop the process if i submit my banking info to pay for any and all damages for checks that bounced . ahhh hello i never had a checkings account in my life and he said to call 1-888-456-1061 to resolve this issue. its a scam and i reported it to ag office ... i know this will help alot , glad i read this blog .. gl ev1

this is driving me crazy
i have gotten this call from 200-000-0000 every day 6 & 7 time a day.

i received this missed call at 1:54pm on 1/15/08 from this number. I don't know who it is and it seems fishy.
