I'm pretty sure it's the car warranty scam. They call me every day, from a different number.
leavemealone 2011-06-06 20:41:12 Unknown
Have recieved this phone call repeatdly at different times of the day. Big red flag for me is that I drive an 89 mercury. There hasnt been a warrenty on that in years. Second big flag it never said what company was calling.

Also receiving numerous calls soliciting extended auto warranty coverage to our cell phone from the following numbers:
978-570-2338 02/11, 7:41PM
201-210-6001 02/09, 10:59AM
813-484-9815 02/08, 6:24 PM
978-570-2225 02/08, 12:43PM
and so on....
The cell phone they are soliciting has never been given to any company except a GM dealership! They said customer info is never sold. Funny these calls come after our warranty was up.

2/9/2008 @ 2:08 PM got a call from this number. They hung up when the answering machine picked up. I recently got caller ID so I don't know how often in the past they've called.

I've been getting calls from all of those numbers too.
The company that they're coming through, not from is:
Digicom.
You can call:(310)358-7000 or (800) 464-5446 and explain that "One of their customers from (201) 210-6001, is using a Digicom number to place these unwanted calls."
They can then block your number from ever being called again!
How polite you are on the phone is up to you...

This number calls my wife's phone every day so I picked it up and pressed 1 to speak to someone about it. Waited 3 minutes. Got a guy who said, " what is the make and model of your car" I asked what company is this? He said "Do you pay my salary?" "Huh? I'd just like you to stop calling this number." "DO YOU PAY MY SALARY YOU xxxxxxing PIECE of XXXX?" Wow. I didn't know they let mental patients use the phone. This is an obvious scam.

This is the 4th number that has called my cell. Even though I hang up right away, I see online comments that there all to do with car warrenty. I put my cell number on the Do Not Call list when these calls started coming in. By March 1st I'll be able to file a complaint if they don't stop.

Exact same thing - Me and my wife got this call!
Subbaiah 2008-02-10 05:04:24 Unknown
This number was on the missed call list of my cell phone.
slay 2008-02-10 02:13:49 Unknown
i get calls from 986-570-2395, 408-587-2116, 562-289-8136, 614-453-6303, 631-840-1026, 866-404-8370. They are all about car warrenties. I put my number on the national do not call registry (they accept cell numbers now too). AFter you've been on the list for 31 days if the numbers continue to call then you can report them and they will get fined for call. It looks like the only solution to the annoyance.

I've been having the exact same experience as you, Amy... thanks for the tips!
Amy 2008-02-10 01:18:08 Unknown
Thanks for the info. Here is something else that I found. donotcall.gov
You can also register your phone number by calling 888-382-1222. make sure you are calling from the number you want to have protected. It took me 30 seconds to complete the whole process.
By law, all telemarketing companies must check the national list every 31 days. If you continue to get calls after that, you can go back to donotcall.gov, and the offending company will be fined.

Two things you can do:
1) Report the calls to the FCC here: https://esupport.fcc.gov/form1088/consumer.do The FCC enforces the Telephone Consumer Protection Act (TCPA); the TCPA forbids both unauthorized prerecorded telemarketing calls to residential land lines and autodialer (predictive) calls to cellphones.
2) Sue 'em. Whether you received only one illegal call or multiple calls, the TCPA gives you the right to sue for damages to the tune of $500 per call. You can file suit yourself (usually in small claims court) or retain a consumer law attorney who will take care of it on your behalf. Many times, by the way, the telemarketer settles out of court.

I'm so sick of these calls!!! I've been getting these recorded calls about "auto warranty expiring" for a few months now from different numbers. When the calls first started I spoke with someone there and asked her to take me off the list, she said they would but they still call - sometimes 3-4 times a day!!! I just hang up.
today "freeuom Voice" came up on my caller id when they called
Amy 2008-02-10 00:03:52 Telemarketer
I started getting calls from this company under 3 different numbers about a month ago. when I started getting calls from the first number(978-570-2225), I didn't answer, and they never left a message. When I called back, the recording said I was removed from their prefered calling list. I cantinued to get the same calls, but from a different number(562-289-8136). I then called that number, and got the same recording, that I had been removed from their prefered calling list, and am now getting calls from the 201 number. How many others are there? I would like to call my phone company, AT&T, and have them blocked, but I would like to know if there are any other numbers that are being used, so I can take care of all of them at once.

Just got a call on my cell phone. No one said anything. But I have received about ten of these calls this week, from various numbers.
I also save all of them, title them "spam," and give them a special ringtone that I know means to not answer.
Prince of Cork 2008-02-09 21:19:02 Unknown
Have received numerous calls from these scam artists - always an automated call informing me that my warranty is about to expire.
Jim Burks 2008-02-09 21:01:56 Unknown
This is the 4th call about renewal of an auto warranty, I don't have a car to renew a warranty on!!
walter mitty 2008-02-09 21:01:55 Unknown
what i've resorted to doing is this:
presuming that these are dialing bots, I have revised my greeting and peserving the first 5 secs to include the DISCONNECT tone...you know, "duh-Duh-DUH" and then after a couple of seconds, my usual voice/msg. this seems to have eliminated most of the calls, though I periodically still get some, but they appear to be new numbers.
California frustration 2008-02-09 20:57:53 Unknown
Same crap here too. just got it. they are mixing up the numbers....this is phone number #4 used by these idiots on me. I simply store the message in address book as contact names "SPAM". Anyone know of other ways to block these from cell phones?
