We have gotten calls from this and other long distance numbers, but they never answer when we pick up the phone. Are these scammers?

Recieved call answered on first ring and no reply when I said hello, but I could hear laughing and them speaking in foriegn lanuage in background.  Sounds like a typical scam artist phishing operation.  Have recieved many calls from this number in the past 3 months.  Normally I just let it ring but I decided to listen to them on the other side for as long as they kept the phones up so it would charge them for the long distance call.

Called asking for a person no longer living here. He said its a financial company.

My caller ID identify call as coming from Dumont, NJ 1-201-244-7020 get calls 2 to 3 times a week, person ask to speak to person by name and threatens when I do not connect call to the particular person he is asking to speak too. They avoid giving their company name, but I suspect a telemarker. How can I get them off from calling? Any suggestions?

Calls constantly at all hours of the day and never responds when I answer the phone.  I wish whoever this is would get a life.

Sick of these guys calling. I also live in Alaska and they prefer after 8 pm to call repeatedly and hang up. Twice no number on caller ID, once from 201-244-7020 within 5 minutes. Hang ups, no message, and we don't answer unknowns.

They just called me and hung up too. In Alaska too. How annoying that was.

Calls our business asking for a specific person.  They will give a name, but no company, only that the person they are calling for is working on a community project and they need to speak with them.  Will never leave a message, just keep calling back.

Calls just about every night, never answered b/c I don't know the number. Finally thought about looking online and found this post.

I also get calls from this number. They hang up and leave no message. I, too, am in AK.

This is from Special Olympics in Alaska. Obviously they have contracted with some firm in NJ to make these calls for them.

Calls once or twice a week. Never says anything.

Said they were calling for the Alaska Special Olympics. But why would someone from ;ower 48 call someone in Alaska? We do that ourselfs.

Got a call from this number yesterday while at work.  No message.  I also live in Alaska.

I also got a call from this number and they left no message.  Again, I live in Alaska.

They call and hang up when the answering machine picks up.  Caller I.D. says Dumont.

Just got a call from them and they too asked for my husband by name. When i said he was at work the guy said Thankyou, and hung up..... after reading these posts i called the number back and it was a recording for charity and donations site......

A**holes call and hang up. Obvious there is someone on the other end...what is their point? I did report them as harassment calls. I am also in Alaska.

Called a few minutes ago, asked for my husband, by name.  Handed the phone to my husband and he hung up.  Alaska.

A guy just called from this number asking for someone who no longer lives here. When told that he said sorry and hung up. If he is actually in NJ, he was calling at midnight (nearly 8pm on a Mon in AK). Seems to be targeting Alaska based on other reports.

nobody there when hubby answered

Recieved a call from this number on a mid Sunday afternoon. About six months ago I got a call from this number once or twice a week for a few months. That was before I knew about this 'report' site. It says Dumont, NJ on my caller ID. Will never answer this caller. Fairbanks, Alaska

called this place of business several times and just hung up but I could hear someone on the other side

I'd like to know who is placing these phone calls but I don't want to expose myself to a predator.
