This is the ONLY call I have received on a phone number that I've only had for a week! I haven't even used the number myself yet! Didn't answer, they left no message, but I'm still perturbed.

it would seem that telemarketing has gone high tech - they load all number combinations and then let the robo-dialers call till they connect - if you never answer eventually the number gets dropped

the equipment and install is free - they are in it for the monthly monitor payments
If you had the time you could have some fun - call them back and be excited and tell them to send out someone - pick a time when you know no one will be home - after a few dry runs they will lose interest in you and your phone number - and you will have annoyed them as much as they annoy you

unfortunately my guess is you just confirmed that your number is valid - expect to get even more calls now that they know that your number is valid and by pressing 2 you are probably confirming that you are not on the dnc list already making it attractive to continue calling you - hope you do not think that they are going to put you on the national dnc list
PS - dnc - do not call - once was a valid threat you could use - now with all the complaints I hear from others - it does not seem to work as well
Only way I have found to get rid of these calls is to not answer, if you are not sure who is calling - honest reputable companies and people will leave a message - or you can track the number on google and call them back if you feel the urge

In case anyone doesn't know, here's how the "free" alarm system scam works:

? Although the installation of the system is free, the monitoring service (which IS required) is a monthly fee ? typically much more expensive than that of legitimate alarm companies
? The contract for maintaining the monitoring service is also typically longer than legitimate companies require
? Early termination of the contract incurs a hefty penalty fee
? Although installation of the alarm system is free, the equipment itself is still owned by the alarm company ? so if/when you decide you don't want it any more they have to remove it ? for which there is another hefty fee

Different scams may use one, several or all of the above policies to rip you off.

The government should Legalize the Hunting & Killing of Telemarketers and Scammers with Open Season being Year Round, possibly with cash rewards for eliminating them.

This would go a long way towards reducing these annoying calls.

They called an unpublished number so they are random dialing in some way.

Just got a call about 5 minutes ago from this number. I picked up and said nothing just waiting for someone to speak. They didn't say anything and after 20 sec hung up.

Phone app says new jersey some buisness called teleclove investments. Sounds like a loan shark. Attempting to search for thw buisness I found no official websitwe bur plenty of complaints ok including an F rating by the BBB.
