It is great to hear that most people are not fooled by these fraud-scam artists.  this same number just called me but left no message.  I get at least 3 such calls a week.

Sad to say but these days none of us should answer a phone number that we do not recognize.  There is no reason to subject yourself to the type of people that call this way.

And yes, WHY can't the phone companies give us a tool to block certain numbers.  The ability to make any phone in the US ring at any time of the day or night and to clog up the voice mail box is not an inalienable right

It's very simple. If your debt is over 4 years old they can't do anything. They buy debt for pennies on the dollar hoping somebody will pay. They called me about a 15 year old debt. Tell them not to contact you anymore.

OK that's irritating, especially on a pre paid phone. Anyway, they keep calling my cell, but I don't answer if I don't recognize the number. I don't have outstanding debt so they can continue to spend their dimes. Wish there was a way to block numbers on a cell phone (ATT). I constantly get a fax machine ALL times of day and night, no joke. I can't even fax back that this is a cell number because my call ends up in a dead spot. Annoying. I have to wonder that this type of bill collecting or fax marketing MUST be lucrative or why would they continue to do it???

Just ABSOLUTELY ignore those calls. And never, EVER talk with anyone about any supposed past due debt. And especially, NEVER agree to pay them a dime. That will create a problem worse than any worrisome call you may receive. Don't even try returning their calls. Just be comforted in the knowledge that you have been able to take care of your debts the last few years. You have NOTHING to be concerned with. Good luck!

Although I am, unfortunately, NOT debt free I certainly agree with your approach in handling calls of this nature. As I have indicated in several posts relative to other "scumbag" callers with various numbers, the best approach in dealing with them is NEVER, EVER talk with them about past debts  you may or may not owe. You can NEVER be subjected to their harassment and/or demeaning conversations, which lead to unnecessary anxiety and worry if you follow this advice of NEVER, EVER answering the phone from an obvious debt collector or any other degenerate caller. Block the number or simply do not answer their call.Believe me, it can be very comforting!

Their real number is (815) 713-2900. This is their private corporate number in Illinois. For obvious reasons they don't want you calling this number.

Calls from 201-297-5823 is Vision Financial - just tell them you will be adding them to the do not call registry and they will take your number off their call list. - or so they say, we'll see

The do not call list is a fricking joke. All it is far is to give these people more numbers to call....

Only had 4 calls, all from different places--Atlanta, NJ, and different numbers. Never leave a message, only rings a few times. On NO CALL LIST. Can't block calls, so just assign a noxious ringtone, and don't answer. Although it is annoying, bless these people, they are working. I wouldn't want to have to do that for a living. However, I do believe they are calling for debt that is beyond the statute of limitations, and calling wrong individuals (due to phone number assignment).

I agree.  File a complaint with your state attorney's office.  They will investigate and if they are in the US, they will get them.  Unfortunately, most of these scum bags are in othwer countries like India and Mexico.

FYI If you are a business and listed as a business the do not call list does not apply to you.
The do not call list only applies to residents or personal cell phones.
There is just nothing us business owners can do.

This is a collection agency which specializes in "Zombie" Debt. They will use various questionable tactics to try and re-set the timeline of the Statute of limitations". Know you credit report and use that knowledge to stop the questions designed to create a debt that died off long ago.
