Same MO.  Didn't catch on at first, but when I realized the charge was to some company other than microsoft (which is who they said they were calling from at first) I cancelled the charge with my cc co and unplugged my computer.  At substantial expense I then had everything taken off my computer and reinstalled.  Don't fall for their line.  Thie phone number does not ring.  It automatically disconnects and you get the recorded message phone co message "If you want to make a call,,,,,".

I just got a call yesterday (9-25-12) from these same people. They went through the whole spiel about how my computer was at risk with different types of infections. They wanted $199.00 for validating my windows securtiy center. I told them to call back on Oct. 1, when they do I am going to tell them it is a scam and that they will get no further information from me. I couldn't even understand the first person and barely understood the second person. The best thing to do is to hang up on them or don't answer the call.

I received a call from this foreign person who said he was in San Francisco, CA and he Identified my computer - had all my files up on the screen in front of me - said he was the only person authorized to know my computer ID numbers as he was calling to assist me with Windows 7.  Transferred me to a person  named Daren Smith in New Jersey who not on;ly told me but showed me info that my computer had been infected by Alureon virus and malware etc.  Both of them kept saying they were going to fix my problems because I had  an asuthorized  Windows 7 program.  Then, after "discovering the Alureon" told me they would charge me  $169.00-259.00 to fix my problem because 94.5% of my software was corrupted and my computer wouls crash the same day without it - I was totally sucked in by these people but continued to question the m until they finally gave up on getting me to pay - said my CLSID was failing.  BEWARE - PLEASE DO NOT LISTEN TO THESE SCAMMERS!

Exactly as described by Rita above. Indian accent, called about 6 times at least today. After opening all those windows in my computer I was at a window in my Systems folder with many warnings. He wanted me to press a particular key combination on my keyboard, which was the moment I refused. Said he would send me a program (advanced windows care v2, which obviously exists in fact) to create a report. With that report he would repair my computer and his technician would then send an invoice to me. Called back three minutes after I hung up, from different number. He gave me his name "John Miller" - (one of thousands....) and his employee ID "12347" to encounter my doubts.
Hands off!

Pakistani called me wanted me to go to some websites and saying the we had an online infection (not a virus, an online infection). He refused to email me instructions and insisted that I log into his website. Said he was from EPerfect. I think it's a scam.

I had the same call today 8-27-11.  They wanted me to log on to my computer.  The number was unknown on caller id - I asked their number so I could call back.  Insisted this was not a sales call.  This call sounded very phishy.  I thought this foreign speaker was saying E-protection.

Just got a call from a foreign speaking person stating they were from a company called E-Perfection.  Calling to state that they have received information that many computers in my Zip Code have been calling Microsoft with computer problems due to online infections.

I started asking questions and the line went dead.
