Got the call yesterday and told them I was filing charges insisted in the full name of the caller and to talk to his supervisor.....lol... one said his name was John Jones the other Mike Foster however the Indian and Pakistani accents tell me this might not really be there names...the supervisor told me the "bought" my name and phone number from a lead line...grrr...husband bought something using my credit card almost 10 yrs ago and on top of now selling my number one boxing day the fraud dep called me and the card was in my pocket but I had changed the mailing address to;d them I was going on vacation and made purchases from 5 continents....

They can spoof their phone number and appear to be calling from anywhere.
When I got a call from that number, after about 5 times I answers it.
They were trying to sell drugs - Viagra, etc.
good advice from the previous commenter. If you don't recognize the number don't answer.

I have been getting calls with a 201 area code, and 210 area code and 6 digit phone #s  like 205-875. I answered them a few times when I was driving & couldn't see the #, there has never been anyone there, although I didn't stay on the line for more than 5 seconds. I have blocked about 30 variations of the number on my phone, but seems that every now and then they get  a new #., but I always check before I answer it, you'd think they would give up by now, I guess I'll report it to the FCC.

I suppose the feds can't do anything about this?????????????????

Whilst what you say is not too bad for most people, those of ud working third shift find it a big problem. We are trying to sleep before going back to work. In my case my cell is my only contact number and is also listed as an emergency contact number for a number of friends and family. So I cannot simply turn it off during the day. I get 3-6 calls a day from this number, plus at least another 3 from a Canadian pharmacy (they  all have Indian accents!) and other plain hang up calls. My particular phone company does not support call blocking and the apps mentioned do not appear toork either. So it appears Ko am screwed!!.

I have been getting calls from this number and they say they are from a online pharmacy and asked if I wanted to buy viagra and cialis. I told them no and not to call again, but the call comes in every day at the same time, many times there is nobody on the other end.

calls from Rutherford, NJ. They know my husband's name. Have answered after repeated calls from Rutherford, NY, but all different numbers, as they are calling ENDLESSLY! and we're sick of the disruptive calls.  we have caller ID & didn't answer at first, but as I said, ENDLESS CALLS!!!! and it was getting ridicules. I answered once & told them off, but they called again tonight & I answered again & told them off again.  Really hope it stops!

Unbelieveable number of calls from this exchange, at least 2-3 x day. Never picked up and from the advice on this site, don't plan on it. but how can they be blocked so phone doesn't ring? can comcast or att block numbers from an area code? als use extensions:  1000, 1002, 1014, 1009, 1007, 1015, 1019, 1011, 1029, 1003, 1001, 1018, 1017, 1005, 1012, 1020, 1008, 1006, 1016, 1010, 1014...All those since April 24, in reverse order, taken off my caller ID...
is this egyptian guy wanted by interpol? maybe worth checking...

Folks, here's the answer:  Get caller I.D.  If you don't know who it is, don't answer.  If it's important, they'll leave a message, and you can pick up the phone.  Simple.

Same issue here. They call from multiple numbers with the same area code and exchange. I got the Call Control app for my Android and used the wildcard function to block (201)340 numbers.

i RECIEVED A MESSAGE FROM THIS NUMBER FROM A MAN THAT JUST KEPT REPEATING MY HUSBANDS NAME.  THE NEXT TIME I ANSWERED AND THE PERSON JUST STAYED ON THE LINE AND SAID NOTHING.

These people whom ever they are keeps calling all day..I left a message telling them not to call my number anymore..I 've tried to block out their numbers with my phone companyy but  I can only block out ten of them..these people have more than ten numbers and just keep calliing.What can we do about this?

One of our cell phones started getting calls today from this number. Interesting that one person above mentioned about the fraud.
This number is listed as Hackensack NJ. My credit card got hit with fraudulent charges from a couple of companies from this area. Not sure if its coincidence or not. I would stay clear.

Daily they call and ask for "Michael".  Daily I tell them, "It's still the wrong number and I've told you countless times to stop calling.  Typically then they will just hang up.  I'm really sick of this.  Another issue is they tend to call early in the morning since I'm on Pacific time and they are from somewhere East.  201-340-1002, 201 340 1007, and more.

Got a call this morning, no message.  Seems it's from NJ and I had gotten spam calls from that area code before...
