Just posted a solution to someone else who had the same problem. I searched the web and found a call blocking device (about the size of a caller ID box) from a company called Digitone Communcations. You simply plug it into your wall phone jack and then plug your phone into the device. By default it blocks OPX calls, which are Anonymous, Out of Area, Private, Unknown, or "X" calls that do not have a minimum 7 digit number displayed. I just installed it over the weekend and it already blocked the "Out of Area 201" number so that it did not ring on any of my phones. It works with traditional phones and with digital phone service offered by cable companies. You need caller ID service for the device to work. It costs about $100.00 (not too bad a price to pay for privacy) and it has a lot of other features including After Hours Mode, that you can program into the device just by using your phone to enter some simple codes. This nuisance number first appeared in early January and now its up to two calls a day. It seems like the bad guys have figured a way around the call-blocking feature offered through our digital phone service from Time Warner which works very well with ordinary numbers. They are probably using some VOIP service that allows fake programing of caller IDs. And since it is not a genuine number, I cannot block it with the normal call blocking feature. I checked the last five in-bound calls that came into my number but it shows up as unavailable. I never answer these types of calls. Its just that its one less nuisance that I can do without.

this is the same for us... 4 or 5 times a day... and that guarantees we will never do any sort of business with whoever it is.... being a nuisance generates it's own results.. if there is a way to figure out who this pls share it...

Called three times today.  No message.  Son of Italy has a great approach!

Picked up and no one on the other end.

Called 5:32pm & 5:50pm on 12/15/2007; never left a message on answering machine.

3-4 times daily.Help! They never leave a message. Can the phone number be disconected by the Attorney General Office?

A Saturday afternoon [8-16-2008] call from this number.  I said "hello" and waited. There was no response for about a half a minute,  and then it/they hung up. My phone has a lot of static, which may interfere with autodialing programs.

I don't usually pick these up but was annoyed that they even chose to call on Sunday. He identified himself as being from the ACLU and the call would be recorded. I said " I'm on the do not call list, it's Sunday and leave me alone." After hanging up I wish I had told him what I thought of the ACLU, that they care more about the rights of illegal immigrants than American citizens.

This number calls me at least twice each day.
They NEVER leave a message.
I never give money to phone solicitors. Period.

We continually get calls from this number and if we say hello once or twice, no one says anything. We have not hung up and put on mute and just listen. After a while, they put US on mute but don't hang up. What kind of business does this kind of sh**??

They keep calling but do not leave a message.  I've also had "outreach tele-fundraiser" coming up on an alternate 800 number, again, no messages....Very annoying!

Apparently this is some Outreach Program. I was surprised that they knew our name since we have been unlisted for 3yrs and on a Do Not Call List for 5yrs. I just politely asked them not to call here again. Hopefully they will respect our privacy.

They have been calling non-stop for a week now!  We picked up once, and there was music while we were supposed to wait for a person.  Aghhh.

called 8:30 at night, left no message

They've been calling 2 or 3 times a day for the past couple of days.

Finally got sick of them and blocked their number.

They are not exactly smart (but yes, they are annoying).  When answering machine kicks in (ours just says "please leave your message") they go "yes, Ms. -my wife's name- as if a human being had answered, after a while they hung up.

Telemarketer......block the number.

These turkey's are pestering the hell out of me.Evan if it was a legitimate outfit, I would give them 'zip.'

I just picked up a call from this number which read on my caller id "Bayonne NJ" and spoke with someone who said they were with the Kennedy Center (in Washington D.C.), which I have been a sustaining member of in the past.  He asked if I had been down to the center in recent months etc and I stopped him and informed him that I have not, and that now is not a good time for me to contribute as I lost my job in December.  He wished me well and quickly got off the phone without any other options that are usually proposed at that point of a contribution conversation(e.g."well, ma'am, if the old amount doesn't work for you, how about a 5 or 10 dollar contribution?").  The reason I think it is even more curious is that another poster to this thread said that the caller he/she spoke with mentioned Habitat for Humanity. Perhaps this caller solicits on behalf of a number of charities, but I would definitley be leary.

As, i have called this number, or at least they claim, is Discover.

Called several days in a row, claiming to be Discover, do not answer this call!

I own a small construction business in northeastern Bergen county. I dialed *69 / the number was 201-535-3618. I then dialed *67, this blocks my #.  It was answered as "Lowes business expectant's center". They were wanting to give me a pre-approved  Lowes Business Credit Card with a credit line of 10K.
