Received a call from 201-606-3436 about potentially reducing the interest rates on my credit cards. The problem is that I have requested to be taken "off their list", declined their services, and been hung-up on countless times. As someone on the DO NOT CALL LIST, WHY AM I RECEIVING THESE CALLS?

When I called back, I did reach a voice mailbox that was full, though the message stated it was for a
Mr. Sanchez.

Hope this helps you catch these jerks!

These b*****ds should be tarred and feathered... I Googled to see what others were saying about this number. Comes up on my caller ID as: New Jersey Call. I'm also on DNC lists. Lots of times the caller ID may be "spoofed" on these Robo Calls. (I think Robo Calls are illegal in the U.S.) But these b*****ds are most likely located offshore. And they don't give a hoot about legality. I have reported to the atty gen of my state. Get back nice form letters telling how they can't catch them.

LETS DO THEM LIKE WE DID OSAMA BIN LADEN! Go SEALS!

PS: They NEVER leave a message on my answering set. (The best money I've ever spent!)

I received a call from a woman clling from this number abut lowering my credit card rates.  I hung up as soon as I heard the call, perfroemd a star-69 caller ID, and a call 57 trace.  Then curiosity got the better of me, and I called back the number and recieved the recording from a voice which sounded like it was mechcanically created or the voice of a retarded person saying that "This is Bill Sanchez calling for Fred or katy."  I didi not leave a message.  I reproted the caller to the FTC.  I also reproted the message about Bill Sanchez.  My home phone number is on the do not call list , anyway!

I have some art commissions back East, so I picked up this call without thinking.  No one was there.  Of course, this was a robo call and later today we will receive a call from some scammer trying to get personal information.  We have been on the National DNC list for YEARS, yet we still receive these kinds of calls around mid-morning at least three days out of every week.

I'm SO frustrated.

I have some legitimate calls from that part of the country, as I'm working on art commissions.  I picked up the phone without thinking about it, believing it was a legit call.  There was no one there.  A robo call of some kind, I'm sure.  ARGH!

Being on the National No Call List doesn't do a bit of good.  We get these calls mid-morning about three days every single week.  SO annoying and frustrating.

The White Pages has this listed as a T-Mobile number. Then if you want to pay to see name and address you can.....It is so annoying, I asked to be taken off their list and she hung up on me. I put it on my block list, when that gets full, I delect the oldest ones and start again.

I don't think anything will ever be done about this problem, it will only get worst.

For other calls such a contractor, home improvement, duct cleaning, carpet cleaning etc. I just tell them that a family does that kind of work and please take me off their list. It seems to work, I write down the number and I have not gotten repeat calls. Hope that helps.

The people calling you are the "card services" scammers. As reported in the Oct-Nov issue of the AARP Bulletin the people (creatures) employed there as telemarketing scammers are mainly drug addicts, attempting to cheat people in order to fund their addiction. They target the elderly and the gullible, pretending to have an association with various credit card companies, in an attempt to get your credit card number. In cases where they succeed in gaining that number the unsuspecting victims will notice hundreds, if not thousands of dollars charged to it on their next statement!  BEWARE---and warn others!

I received a call from this number earlier today.  Did not recognize it so I didn't answer.  Same thing, 3 seconds of silence on the answering machine.  I'm sick of these calls also.  It seems like they call from a different city and state everyday.  Thank goodness for caller id.  They can call all they want, I will not answer!!  I am also on the DNC list but it doesn't seem to do any good.

Solicitation for a credit card transfer. I had a number of things to tell them and asked them to listen carefully for 15 seconds.

1. I do not have any credit card debt.
2. I am in the DoNotCall.gov database.
3. I WON'T do business EVER w/companies that ignore laws, especially widely known laws because if they can not HONOR that much, neither will they HONOR any written agreement a consumer may stupidly enter into with them.
4. Cease and desist from calling me.
5. Goodbye.

I'm on the DNC list.  They called offering to lower my credit card rate.

They've got 2 strikes against them.  1) It's illegal for them to call me.  2) It's illegal for them to use a robo-dialer.

The DNC list is GREAT.  Legitimate telemarketers honor it and don't call me.  Criminals don't care about the law and continue to call.  At least now I know which telemarketing calls are from criminals -- ALL OF THEM!  So I don't pick up the phone when I see a number I don't recogzize.

I repeatedly get calls from "cardholder services."  I have asked them politely to cease and desist, been rude and told them to FOAD, blasted an air horn into the receiver, and lied and told them I had probably 30 to 40 credit cards with a total balance of close to 3 million dollars.  They hung up on me that time!  What will it take to get these people in prison?

Got a "New Jersey" call just now...gonna block it. ATT said they don't block all area codes so I bought a call blocker on ebay that blocks 1500 numbers. Works great. Going to add this number now.

Trying to get in touch with tmobile. If you call back the number, the voicemail always picks up, with a weird recorded name, and always full. I know the probability of spoofing, but also scammers can indeed use a cell connection. This number being like this I think theres a chance that this isn't spoofed so it's worth a try.

This is a scam call. They want your info so they can steal your identity. Their intent is fraudulent. Getting upset about the DNC list is useless. This is a technology and legal issue. As long as these guys can spoof the return number, no one is going to look for them. You all should start writing your congressmen and telling them you want the phone companies to stop allowing spoofing. I refuse to believe that it is beyond their ability to stop it.

There are a few ways to block calls.
Your service provider may provide you with an allocation of 30 or so #'s you can block. Call them to find out if they provide the service and how to access it. My provider is Optimum and I block #'s from my online account. I can also block all private callers. If they refuse to release their # to me, it's probably a scam. They still have the opportunity to release their #, by dialing *82 and the call will come through. My friends just program *82 into their phones and they are not blocked.
My phone (Panasonic) also allows me to block #'s. Once the # is blocked, it will still ring one time and then stops. I think Uniden offers a similar system.
There are separate units that can be added to your phone system. You can find them on eBay, Amazon, etc. The problem with theses systems is you loose CID features of all phones downline of the series connection. On the positive side these units allow you to block entire area codes and/or exchanges. For example if you want to block all the scammers and politicians in Washington DC, just block the entire (202) area code. I believe politicians are scammers too, so I'm fine blocking all all of them.
You can also add software to your computer which works in a similar fashion, but it means leaving your computer running 24/7.
Good luck choosing your defense. Keep in mind, none of these approaches is foolproof as the scammers will always come up with new numbers and technology. The rule in my house is, if you don't know the name or number on CID, DON'T answer. If its important, they will leave a message and you can call right back. By answering the phone you are giving away a lot of information even if you just say a few words. The caller can figure out your sex. Your approximate age. Whether there are children in the home. What time the home is occupied. Your ethnicity. Plus whatever questions you may answer. Etc.......
If you choose to call back, always dial *67 before the number which will block your # from the caller. Do not fall for the caller asking for your #, so they can remove it from their list. This just confirms your # as a valid target. The same thing goes for "press 1 to be added to their DNC list." Your validating your # and the time you can be reached. Just hang up. It's not rude. It's your right.

I received 2 calls within 10 min of each other.  It is "an important call about your credit card account."  I know there is not a problem.....I pay it all every month, so I don't have interest OR an outstanding balance!
