Just because someone brought your name from a lost or stolen list please do not tell them your personal information. They may know you used medco from the list they obtained. Call the main MEDCO number and ask for a respenstive. I do not know if this is a scam or not but too many different scams going around. Just got a call from them stating they were calling about my husband's employment health insurance. My husband  has been a full time student for over a year!!! Don't give them your medicare number...someone can use that for their own healthcare under your name. Don't give them your personal information...they have that already..even if it is to "confirm". Always ask them to mail you something or give you their name. Tell them thank you but you will call medco directly.

They claim to be Medco but I wouldn't be so sure. I've been employed at the same place for 12 years, and Medco often sends me postal mail about their services - but they have NEVER called until I got this call today. I suspect it's a scam operation using the Medco name. In any case I would never give out the kind of information they would no doubt ask me for over the phone to a caller who simply claims to be Medco, if I were inclined to sign up I would contact them myself.

Received a call from Medco at 6:30 pm PST, so that means that it is 9:30 pm EST in New Jersey where the call originated.  Also after "Hurricane Sandy" 5 days ago in New Jersey, I wouldn't think that they would be calling at 9:30 pm EST.
With all that said, This is a SCAM!  Do not give out your Birthdate, phone number or address.
Don't even call them. I called back & their recording of that they are "Medco" is inaudible or hard to hear and sketchy while playing.  Even though you punch in a number to talk to someone, they are not there even 5 minutes from supposedly "Medco" after they called me.
Medco Pharmacy is a real Mail-In Order Pharmacy.  They only call you to confirm your ordered medications are going to be sent to you OR to discuss any issues with your medications that you ordered.  The real phone # for Medco is 800-841-2797.  They also have a N.J. phone that does start with (201) 891-xxxx, not the (201) 848-5078.

I dial the number back at 3:15pm MT and only get a dial tone. They didn't leave a message again and I'm tired of getting calls like this on my cell phone. We have Medco but I would never give information to someone cold-calling me. Appreciate the other posts, thank you!

I just received a call; no message. From the posts, I know that it's Medco. I already have a relationship with Medco, because my company requires that we use them if we are taking meds for chronic illnesses. I communicate with them online. . .don't know why anyone would be calling at all, let alone leaving no message.

I have received legitimate calls from Medco, in the past. They call annually offering help managing my chronic illness, which I decline. This is also required by my employer. They told us to expect the call. And the caller for that leaves a clear, detailed message. Once I speak to the person, that's it for the year. And that person never asks for personal info, since they already have all my info.

Same here, I got a call from some Medco rep. When I asked where is he calling from says Ohio yet called ID shows 201.. When I asked why is the area code for Ohio not showing up he gives some type of excuse about how the office number goes through the local office. Huh? So I cut the person off from asking me questions and mentioned that I am not interested in their mail order service and to take me off their calling list permanently.
next time I get a call i am going to start cursing them off

They are very rude if/when you answer. Very very arrogant as well. Also use 772-335-4498. Probably dozens of other numbers as well. They asked for my wife by name and claimed my wife had an account with them.... which she certainly does not.  I believe BCBS provided them with a sales lead... and they took that to mean they have a legitimate business "relationship" with us to side step the Do Not Call list. I blocked them with *60, but just like all the rest...  the next day.... they have a new number to harass you with. Oh...  yeh...  and my number is on the Do Not Call List... and has been since its inception. It's pretty aggravating to crawl out from working under a car just to see these dimwits on the line again. It's what I do for a living.... so if I get hurt in doing so after I've told them not to call.... I'll sue them.

Medco Pharmacy is the mail order division that is used by United Healthcare, as well as others that offer prescription drug coverages. I have received numerous calls from them right after the open enrollment period for our benefits package at work trying to get me to switch to a 3 month scrip from a 1 month.

Got the call, Medco Pharmacy.  They knew my employer but wanted more info, like DOB.  They thought they had the right birth month.  Did not confirm or deny but said send me an email.  They said check our web site.

We've used Medco in the past.  Every shipment arrived as needed, prices were very good.  Still don't care for the CELL phone solicitation and NEVER give out info over the phone.  You gotta be kidding me!

I have asked multiple times to be taken off their call list.  I was coaxed into ordering from them once (they messed up my Rx, annoyed my doctor, etc.). I told them never again.  Now they call and are snarky with me.

Moments ago, we heard a message from 866-544-6987 on our answering machine.
This was the second time a call was received from them.  The first call was a few nights ago.
My husband had answered and the caller learned that I was unavailable.  Then, proceeded to ask
what day and year my husband was born.  The caller knew only the month.  Since we do not
provide any personal information over the phone, especially if we haven't made the call, the
male caller was told just that.

An hour ago, a second call was received.  The male voice stated that this was in reference to a "recent prescription" by so-and-so.  We'll keep calling OR if you prefer, you may call 866-544-6987.

After reading the previous posts, we know that this is a TELEMARKETER.  If Medco or anyone wants personal information or a clarification, they can send a written request via the U.S. Postal Service.

I called 866-544-6987 to get my numbers added to their do not call list. The person I spoke to was super polite, checked the two phone numbers I gave her, she was able to tell me who I was and a lot of other info, but said no problem, she'd make sure the calls stopped. Whether or not that would have actually happened will probably never be known. But then she said we'd still get calls warning us of potential drug interactions, recalls, etc. I asked why, since we don't have anything at all to do with Medco. Turned out Medco handles the billing for at least one of our BCBS plans and that was how they had all the info on us. I had actually tried to set up prescriptions by mail once in the past and someone somewhere had decided it wasn't available to me. That's probably how Medco got my number in the first place - if not through my BCBS plan. But when I explained that to her, (and she was very patient by the way) she set me up with a temporary online account so I could look at what's available and maybe see why I can or can't set up what I want.

Bottom line, give this number a call. If your experience is anything like mine (be polite - the person answering is not the person who is calling you - probably does not even work for the same company), you'll get what you want. She said it takes about 72 hours for the do not call order to filter out to their call centers. As for how the call center handles it after that, that's probably a completely different matter. They're probably subcontracted by Medco, probably employ minimum wage workers at the phones, and may not much care about do-not-call lists. Then you can always go to the national do not call registry, and register your number, and then complain when they continue to call you.

Got a call and message from that number. Thanks to all the posts here, I know what it us about and will not call back. I will block the number. If I wanted to switch to Medco I would have done it on my own. Thanks to the affiliation with the insurance company we get harassed with phone calls that they make sound like there is something important they have to tell us about the prescription. Instead it is just a pharmacy who wants to make some money.

This number has been calling for several days, and doesn't leave a message on my cell phone.

I'm glad you posted this. Seems that they are claiming to be Medco.  He said my birth month, then asked for the date and year and that he was a pharmacist  and would like to discuss my options on medications through BCBS.  I told him I would prefer to call them back and discuss personal matters and that I don't give personal information from unsolicited calls. Sigh,  it's an auto-dialer, so you need to pick it up once, and tell them you aren't interested, then hopefully they won't call again. I'm still uncertain if this was a legit call or not.

Medco does a subtle form of telemarketing they use there automatic system to call people from a list of numbers they have and use a fake name they are calling to get company  name recognition out there.

When you get these calls you will find the name changes every time.

if the name does not change its someone that does business with medco that got tired of medco calling and gave them a bad number(yours)so they would not be getting these calls.

i only caught on because my answering machine also records the first part of call after i pick up and i went back and found the name they were calling changed for every call
