Do not accept checks for over the price.. this is the scam, the check (or money order) is always sent for well over the price, then the sender expects you to send the excess to some obscure other person. Meanwhile, the check bounces better then a super ball in a concrete building and you get stuck for the full amount not to mention you can get into trouble for passing a bad check.
Sending fake checks through the mail is a crime so contact the US Postal Service Inspectors:

Same as states by others. Contacted me in regards to my ad craigslist - I googled the number since it isn't local and sure enough, its a scam artist.

Ive been sending this guy fake addresses and cc numbers for days now!! I love playin with scammers and cat fish..

Thank you "Phlip" for your post. It helped me avoid this scammer. This number texted me today in response to my craigslist post in the same format: "I want to buy your Dining Table + 6 chairs?" (word-for-word my craigslist post description). That sent up a flag. Then I googled the number and found this alert. Steer clear.
