My story doesn't differ greatly...we have thus far received two calls after having a fraudulent tax return filed.  One call from this number but the same voice and story from a similar number.  Calls were made to our home on  4/30/14 and 5/5/15.  The thick unidentifiable accent indicates he is an officer with the crime department and that we must report the fraudulent activity to the numbers given.  Some how I despise ignorant challenges to defraud Americans but so wish I could expose entire operation...obviously the only thing to do is to protect yourself!

This idiot called and said we owed $1,675 and that someone was going to arrest my husband for not paying his taxes and "hiding" money that we haven't reported!! Thought I would put the phone number in the computer to see what came up, and sure enough scam!! I knew it was because the IRS always sends out letters. I told the man, that didn't speak very good English, to send me out a letter....he said "no" we don't do that...yeah right! I called him back and gave him a piece of my mind and instead of me hanging up on him, he hung up on me! I called him back again and told him "he" is now under investigation!

Sad to see that these people haven't been caught yet, but I guess it's not surprising. A few days ago I got a message from this number from a man calling himself Officer Ricardo (yeah okay) with the same thick middle eastern accent and was asking for my father by name. When I called back I got a woman who basically said my dad was guilty of tax evasion and that they had records of his taxes going back ten years. As soon as I called BS on this she said that a sheriff was going to be coming to arrest him, and when I questioned what kind of person from the government would warn a suspected criminal that someone's coming for them that's when she completely broke character and started cursing at me. I laughed and hung up. I found it weird that they didn't even ask for money, but they didn't like me questioning them very much.

The scam callers are not in the United States - probably India.  There is not much American law enforcement can do about that - unfortunately.

I guess they are still working this scam.  I just got the same vmail. Said his name was "Officer McNellis" (?) in heavy asian accent of some sort.  Sounded like a scam so I googled the number and can see many others have gotten it.  The IRS doesn't work this way.  I didn't return the call.  Why don't these scams get shut down?  I'm in an area with a lot of retirees who I guess are more likely to believe this is for real.

This a-hole just called me too.  Tried to freak my family out because they knew our last name on the landline.  I hope these people burn in hell because i'm sure they probably got some poor scared senior citizen who can't even afford meds to pay into their scam.   Thank goodness for google so you can check for these scam callers.

I got the call from this morning, telling me that there is warrant issued for me and my husband's arrest because there are some problems with our taxes in last ten years. The lady threatened me that we are going to jail, that they are going to take my kids away and deport us. If I don't do as they said. I was supposed to go to CVS store and buy a voucher of $1,797.00 and I could not hang up, she had to be on the phone with me non-stop. Once I got to CVS I did go there, I could not find the vouches, the store was out., then quietly I asked the employee is this right, she told me :NO, IT'S SCAM. Right away I hung up and went to the police, told them what is happening, while I was there I got another call, this time it was a man, saying that he is a police officer from my city. Then the real police officer took my phone and told him, that HE is the real police, and that my city do not have a police officer by that name. The man tried to argue with the real police, then he hung up. He newer called again. I got really scared, I could have lost my money in a second, if I did not ask that employee I could have been another victim of scam. People, be cautious, there are real scammers out there.

I got a phone call from 202-239-2560 about some fraud from a guy with an Indian accent who's said he is a criminal investigation officer. Sounds fishy. I don't want people to call me like this.
