Hey Guys,
After reading your comment, I feel soooo relieved that words can not express my ANGER towards these scammers. Is there anyway I could report them? Apparently, they said I owe $22,000 & that I will get arrested if I don't have this amount due. I asked them "why?" & they ended the phone call. Uhhhh, suspicious much?

I got a call from the (202) 239-6259 number; and they left a voice mail. The 'person' (I use the term loosely) who could barely speak intelligible english stated he was with the IRS (the name he gave was 'Agent Brian Allen' and he was calling in regards to a 'warrant' filed against me and my physical property location (that's all, didn't have my address or any other identifying info); gave a warrant number; and a 'hotline number to his dept.' which was (202) 239-6259.
(And in the background there was PLENTY of ambient call center noise with others making phone calls) - thus I figured it was BS as I've never had IRS issues; looked the number up on the internet and found MULTIPLE sites indicating this is indeed a phishing scam.

I got called from this guy saying he is calling from crime investigation dept and said I will be arrested by my local police dept soon. It must be a scam

I received a call from this guy today but let it roll to my answering machine. I let it go until now and am glad I thought to research this number. It does not make sense. The IRS always sends letters, they don't call first.
It sounds like he is in room full of people and he has a very heavy accent. Claims to be an IRS officer and he gave my husband's name and said he was investigation our Property. Which did not make any sense either.

Also had same call. From 202-239-6259. Told I was under criminal investigation. Obviously a scam.

Just got this call 5 minutes ago...But when I started asking questions about the guy calling and his managers contact info and that I will report this..he hang up..Very annoying to get these type of calls..Since I see a lot of messages here, I'm wondering why they haven't caught this guy yet? Anyway, he is still in full operation.

"Alex Smith" (with a heavy south Asian accent ) is still at it in March 2014. Alex is calling to report that the IRS has a case open and that we should call him back urgently. He can keep waiting.
I would love to see a late night host call this guy back...

I got a call from 202-239-6259 and he said his name was Alex Smith, badge # 2465, he said there is a Warrant out for me, I will be arrested in 2 hours.

A gentleman name Alex recently called and asked to speak to my mother. He stated that he was from the crime investigation company and he urgently needed to speak with my mother. I asked him what time did his office closed and what area is his "office" located. Throughout the entire conversation this man was hesitant with every question I threw at him. By the three minute mark, he was already aggravated with me interrogating him. He spoke in an accent, but I couldn't pinpoint exactly what country he is from. Who ever gets a call from this gentleman please don't call him back. What a stupid attempt to scam people.

They are using spoofing, it displays mock up telephone number on the caller id, it is not the actual number from where they are calling. The above number is incorrect. Please ignore.

I got a call from this number yesterday. The person identified himself as "Roy Cage" and started outright threatening me. He said that if I was aware of a pending lawsuit against me and that he was from the "Criminal Investigation Unit" of IRS. The whole episode was very suspicious, since he could not get a bunch of facts straight. I asked him what am I being investigated for and he kept saying there is a warrant. When I said I do not owe anything to IRS he got even more angry and then said he was from FBI and IRS would never talk to me directly. Then I told him that I just typed his name in google and it came as a scam he said that he is neither in IRS nor in FBI but in a collection agency. I pushed him even further asking where he was based or which collection agency -- he said "DC" and then said " wait for the police on your doorstep to seize your property, Good bye!". As much as I knew that this was a scam, it was still disconcerting since threats are never pleasant to hear.
Anyway, this was after hours at 6 pm and then this morning I called up the IRS Treasury Inspector General for Tax Administration hotline at 1.800.366.4484. You should press 5 to talk to an IRS official and tell him what happened. The IRS person asked me what number was this "Roy Cage" calling from and when I told him he said that they are already under investigation. Next time anyone calls, and says anything similar, just tell him that they are already under investigation.

Lets do our best to report every time we get a call from them.

We received a call from 202-239-6259 on 3/4/14 and a man called Brian Allen said he was from the IRS and said there was a Warrant out for my husband from the IRS. We had a feeling that this was a scam but because of the seriousness of the issue we continued to listen. He was very aggressive and talked about the consequences of providing fraudulent information to IRS, we were very disturbed by this phone done early morning and when we finally got to the point that we were sure it was a scam we hung up. He wanted payment over the phone via credit card.
I am really surprised that this number cannot be tracked, if it was from overseas I would doubt that we could call them back with the same number. They can probably do something to make it display as a local call, but I don't think you can contact them if it is from overseas, but what do I know?!

Your welcome! :)
@Rosalie It takes time to track them down when they use spoof numbers, and in most cases these are foreign criminals in other country's. Sometimes those country's will co-operate, but in most cases, they couldn't care less unless they accidentally arrest them for one scam and it turns out they are doing others. It happens though! :) Your best defense now day's is buying a call blocking device or phone.

>>> I googled this number and it linked me to this forum. <<<
We already know we're here. We don't have to be told how to find us. And if someone else needs to know how to find us, by the time they see your advice, it's too late to help, anyway! :-)
But this is an IRS faker using a magicJack number. See my other post here on 800notes at:

I got a call from this number 202-239-6259 indicated that a warrant for my arrest was issued by THE HOME LAND SECURITY because the IRS found an error in my 2011 tax return, he also said that he is sending me some document regarding that error. The guy had a very heavy accent, I could hardly understand him. What a scam.

Pretty much impossible to take them down since they are located in either India or Pakistan. You should make a report however.

I got a voice mail from this number 202-239-6259 saying it was Brian Allen from Internal Revenue Services in Washington DC and saying providing a warrant number. When I called there was a recorded message with a foreign accent pretending to be IRS investigation Services. Cheats and Losers!
