Definitely a scamer trying to extract info about anyone who would get scared and give away. The accent is probably of an Indian, I can tell because I am an Indian and shameful. I feel very tempted to track this guy out, and will be setting up to do so.

Called to say this is an urgent message from the IRS and if I ignore the call then they would call the Sheriffs. I had several of these messages from 2 numbers - 202-751-2453 and 202-239-8309.

Folks, I also got 2 calls from the number 202-239-8309. First this phony person identified himself as Officer Barton and left a threatening message claiming to be IRS. Next time, he called and I picked up and this was a recorded line! I called this number 2 times and the message box is coming full. I also got call from 202-751-2569 and when i called this number it does not even ring. it is a BIG scam where they probably are trying to steal your personal info. I am calling the police and reporting this because IRS never approaches people like that. All communication from IRS always comes through snail mail.

Got the same call several times.  did not get over the weekend.  Said he is Kevin.  Had an accent. It is a scam.  Want to call and ask for his bank account number pretending to send him some money.  see what he says.

Got the exact same message today. twice. The guy had a heavy accent. Claimed to be officer David _____. The fact that everyone else has the exact same recording proves that this is most likely a scam.

I also got a call from 202-239-8309 claiming to be IRS.  I also got similar calls earlier from 202-239-7023, 202-239-6960, and 347-817-7699.  I tried calling back one of the numbers.  It was a magic jack number and went to voicemail.  I guess they are trying to scare people into sharing personal info to steal ID, file bogus tax claims and collect refunds.

Got a call with no message left.

Same with us he threatens that it is from IRS regarding tax, I am sure it is ascam!

I got exactly the same message as others, except that he did not sound to be a foreigner,

I got the exact message on my answering machine today. I was tempted to call back and say I am not a republican so stop harassing me!

my ID showed the person called from 210-228-4063.

I got the same call , then  I checked on line. I am not the only one. Thank all the message left above.

I talked to this guy and he tried convincing me that the IRS had filed a law suit against me for money laundering! Called the IRS and it's a scam. Do not talk to them.

We also received a call from the same number on our answering machine with the exact same messaging from a man in a heavy foreign accent. I think this is bull, the IRS does not contact people in this way. Does anyone know why he is calling and if this is some sort of scam?

I got exact same call. sounds like an indian guy. Its a recording. he didnt ask who he wanted to speak to. Sounds like a scammer. IRS would never try to reach you this way.

I got a call from this number it came through marked as a cellular call, he sounded foreign maybe from India.  

He doesn't say who he is calling for he only starts out by saying:
I want you or your atty of record to call me

then he gives a name officer David (inaudible) from the IRS and it is extremely urgent for you to call back to my direct hotline to my division is (202) 239-8309 This came through showing as a cell phone number.
If i don't hear from you I can only wish you good luck as this situation unfolds upon you

I tried calling back after 10:00 and did not get a recording saying who or where it was, it only went into a disconnect mode without even ringing.
