I just received about 10+ calls in a tow from this number 2022398934 said his name was Jason can't remember last name. Spoke clear English. Said he needed a tow truck cause he was broke down. He first called several times private number. I do own tow trucks. But the man I talked to even knew the streets in the town I live in. I'm not sure if it was real or not. He said he had throat cancer. It was odd so I didn't send my driver out. And ignored it.

This guy contacted me off of another website. I thought he was for real. He had an accent though...but claimed to be from the USA. I went back to that website and his profile is inactive now.

I was in bed this morning being it's Sunday and this number called me 3x in a row at 8:30am. I didn't answer it as I didn't recognize the number and I feel is someone is really trying to reach me, they'll leave a message with who they are and a number to contact them back at. Kind of annoying though that our government doesn't do more to crack down on these type of scumbags.

202-239-8934 was one of a series of 3 phone numbers used by scammers pretending to be from Microsoft - having found that my 8.1 OS was full of malware leading to a Western Union "registration" page - when the alarm bells went off with me. Alas, by then it was too late, they had removed my password and I had to reinstall everything while saving the data to an external drive. Nasty.

They are scammers located in India. They spoof their numbers. They use 202 area code so people will think they are in the District of Columbia. They've been doing this for years.

Weirdest message I ever had on the answering machine : women / girls sreams, lots of background noises and scratch like sounds, finally, the message last so long I had to stop it by myself.

Randy...is there a possibility that the magic jack numbers are recirculated? I noticed a lot of these calls took place in 2011 but a couple are reported as of 2014. I received several calls from this number recently is why I am asking.

called my dad and told him he was a Microsoft subcontractor. claimed we had thousands of packets coming from virus files. Indian accent, very hard to understand. obvious noise in the background tells me it is a call center.
as near as I can tell, they used start+run to open the run program box. loaded a website and installed AMMY admin remote desktop software. I assume they began downloading his entire hard drive. I stopped it as soon as I found out what was going on. He called back an hour after and talked to me. Stated he was from GBMtechsupport in indiana. This is where GBM is, but why would their tech use a Washington, DC number?
total scam

Find it funny because my last name is so popular and I have my family tree and there's no Andrew Evans . But starred getting pushy saying they need all my info fast so the could get the money ..

Caller ID on my cell phone said 202-239-8934. I don't answer numbers that I don't recognize. However, a family member is visiting the DC area so I answered, no one there and no voice mail message.
I'm glad I checked the number at this site.
I always look up unknown numbers here
I have been on the National Do Not Call Registry for years... I doesn't help with scammer calls...

Called this number back after seeing it left no message. It told me to enter the "magic" number I was looking for. Lmfao! Scheming Scammers, I dont answer unkown numbers from out of state. I already get annoyed from the goo gobs of telemarketers calling from within my own area code, I dont think its right or fair. If I had to pay by the minute I'd really never answer my phoone. It's no wonder most folks rather text these days.

Multiple attempts from this number to breach a business phone system and use it as a call forwarding system for long distance calls which will charge the local business. Phone number block request submitted to telephone company and a fraud investigation has been opened. Luckily, their attempts failed because we caught the suspicious activity before they breached any voicemail boxes.
What they'll do: find a voicemail box with an unset or easy 4-digit pin. Once inside, they'll turn on call forwarding and will forward all calls to that extension out to another long distance carrier such as AT&T. From that point on, all they need to do is call that extension and they'll be presented with dial tone from another carrier. Since the long distance call using the other carrier will at this point be originating from the hacked extension, that business will receive the long distance call bills. They'll usually call back into their own 900 number which charges $10/minute, and will leave the phone off the hook - raking in cash at the local business' expense (unless the fraud is caught early or disputed with the phone company, they surprisingly get away with this often).
