Received call on May 9.  Woman had such a thick accent that I could not understand her name, where she was calling from or the supposed case number.  I believe she mentioned something about an investigation and warrant for my arrest.

You should make a report.  But as a practical matter, nothing much can be done since the perpetrators are in India.  The technology exists to stop these people but our government in Washington has other things to do that apparently have a higher priority.

Yes, they're Indian, sometimes also Pakistani. Total scam. Use 202 area code to make you think they are calling on behalf of the federal government.  Total scam.

The a***oles called and left a voice mail..Scared the s*** out f me.....

Just rcvd ph call fm same number fm supposed OFFICER STACEY THOMPSON with a thick Asian accent, call back 202-241-0697 ext 212.  Stated she was calling from CID in Washington, DC and that my husband had a legal charge against him & his SSN was under federal investigation.  Recorded part of the call before I picked up the phone.   I did call the number back & same female answered (without dialing the extension) and I told her to stop scamming people.  She told me she didn't have to listen to me and that I would be arrested in the next 20 minutes.  I reported the call to the local police.  Also spoke to the local FBI office & said the local police report was the best route.

I've had similar messages.  One 5/1 & again today 5/8. Very thick accent, can't understand her name, "Esther Ben Y. Young" or "Sofa Della Rung" or maybe it's "Selfa Della Rung". "Prime [or maybe 'crime'] Investigation Division with Federal Rate ID 1-1-2-70....inform you an arrest warrant has been issued against you & your physical address is under the federal investigation. I'd like to inform you my delivery [or maybe 'digital'] # is 202-241-0697. I repeat 202-241-0697."
I've reported it once to FTC & will do it again.

A girl with a thick accent said she was Stacy Thompson with CID in Washington DC involved witth criminal investigations and said she needed my info to look up my criminal file.  I told her I was an officer.  She hung up.  

received the same type of call they have called a total of 5 times 3 in a row we told them to get a real job, your acting is not that good and a friend who is a local sheriff called them back The caller said it had  nothing to do with him He explained that they would be notified first of warrants  that are issued on anyone
the scam needs to stop,this is just annoying and a waste of time,and people remember warrants and issues such as this are carried out by local law enforcement and not by phone with money be transferred or exchanged over the phone, because once this happens you give them it freely like this its not a criminal offense The law is not going to get your money back    

Got this same exact message today on my voice mail-unbelievable these people! What BS. This must be shut down

CALLER LEFT A VOICE MESSAGE ON MY PHONE. HEAVY FOREIGN ACCENT, CLAIMING TO BE FROM THE CID. SAID SOMETHING ABOUT A CRIMINAL FEDERAL INVESTIGATION AND SAID SOMETHING ABOUT A WARRANT FOR MY HUSBAND'S ARREST,  CLEARLY A CRANK SCAM CALL FROM 2022410697.  THIS MESSAGE WAS LEFT ON MY PHONE 25-APRIL-2014  AT 3:12PM.

Your supposed to report it to the Treasury Inspector General for Tax Administration at 800-366-4484. And also you can file with the FTC:
Federal Trade Commission at FTC.gov. Add "IRS Telephone Scam" to the comments in your complaint.

IC3 is the cyber crimes division of the FBI..

Received same type of call, similar content. I have been on several web sites documenting calls from these people. I can't believe there is nothing that can be done to stop this. It's scary to get this kind of call until you look on the internet and see that many people have reported it and that it is a scam. Anyone know who to contact to report this to who might actually do something about it.

I received a warning/threat calls from this #. Offensive and threatning me coming out to get me because I am a cheater. Gave me a BADGe # said he was with a govt agency. Crime Investigation Bureau.

I too received a call from this number today, a woman said I am under investigation etc, to call her back for more info.

Today, I received a call from 202 241 0697 stating that an arrest warrent was issued on my name and to call him back for more info. It was really hard to understand the guy. He had an indian accent and it was really noisy in the background. Thank you so much for sharing your experience and letting us know that there is a scam coming from this phone nr.  

The gentleman with a thick accent left a threatening message regarding an investigation.

I received a call from the 202 241 0697 stating that my identity is being investigated and there is warrent issued for my arrest  It scared me to death plz people be aware that this is a scam and I hope they will be caught very soon.

I got the same call and the same threat from 202-241-0697.  It was a person with a thick accent.  I filed a complaint with the IC3 (I got the web address by scrolling down on this site).  EVERYONE should report this!  This is a terrible phone call to get, to be told a arrest warrant has been issued for you by the IRS.  The IRS wouldn't go about things like that, you would have to be audited and they wouldn't call and threaten.....I worry about an elderly person getting this call and believing it and falling victim to whatever this scammer is trying to do!!

Received a call from the same phone number as listed in other posts (202-241-0697) from a man with a thick accent. Very noisy background and it took a few seconds before someone came on the line. He asked me "Can I ask who I am speaking with". I told him no (firmly) and asked who he was. He hesitated and then told me I was under investigation and a warrant was being issued for my arrest. I told him Bullxxxx and hung up on him. Sure glad I had been informed of this scam previously. What I don't understand, if this specific number is so common, why someone in authority can't shut it down.
