I just received a call from Mr. James Crider claiming to be with Law Firm. I know it is a scam, as he was using information from a closed account. He said I had broken 2 laws,he stated if I didn't co-operate he would garnish my wages, call my employer and tell them what I had done. That I had taken out a payday loan from U.S.Cash Services for $300. If it went to court it would cost me $2,954. He stated I took out the loan on June 20, 2011, and when they went to collect on July 22,2011 that they couldn't get their money. Which I know is not true. I have been getting these types of calls since December 2010. They are scammers and need to be turned over to the Federal Trade Commission as the FBI no longer handles phone fraud. I have spoken with the FTC and all I have to do is gather all the many different people who have called me.  So to anyone out there. Call the FTC and report these scammers.

These calls are scams.

The following information is from the FBI website on E-Scams and Warnings:

Telephone Collection Scam Related to Delinquent Payday Loans

12/01/2010?The IC3 receives a high volume of complaints from victims of payday loan telephone collection scams. In these scams, a caller claims that the victim is delinquent in a payday loan and must repay the loan to avoid legal consequences. The callers purport to be representatives of the FBI, Federal Legislative Department, various law firms, or other legitimate-sounding agencies. They claim to be collecting debts for companies such as United Cash Advance, U.S. Cash Advance, U.S. Cash Net, and other Internet check cashing services.

One of the most insidious aspects of this scam is that the callers have accurate information about the victims, including Social Security numbers, dates of birth, addresses, employer information, bank account numbers, and names and telephone numbers of relatives and friends. The method by which the fraudsters obtained the personal information is unclear, but victims often relay that they had completed online applications for other loans or credit cards before the calls began.

The fraudsters relentlessly call the victim?s home, cell phone, and place of employment. They refuse to provide to the victims any details of the alleged payday loans and become abusive when questioned. The callers threaten victims with legal actions, arrests, and in some cases physical violence if they refuse to pay. In many cases, the callers even resort to harassment of the victim?s relatives, friends, and employers.

Some fraudsters instruct victims to fax a statement agreeing to pay a certain dollar amount, on a specific date, via prepaid visa card. The statement further declares that the victim would never dispute the debt.

These telephone calls are an attempt to obtain payment by instilling fear in the victims. Do not follow the instructions of the caller.

If you receive telephone calls such as these, you should:

  * Contact your banking institutions;
  * Contact the three major credit bureaus and request an alert be put on your file;
  * Contact your local law enforcement agencies if you feel you are in immediate danger;
  * File a complaint at www.IC3.gov.

Same kind of story, the 202-241-5005 number has been popping up on my wife's phone for 3 months.  These guys started swearing at my wife.  Big mistake. They have no idea who they are messing with.  When I call them back, I get "Hi this is John from (indistinct, sounds like Udolph or Rudolph) Criminal Investigation, right now I am not available, please leave your name and number and I will get back to you. Good luck and (indistinct) bless you. Goodbye."

These guys are scammers based out of india.  The numbers all map to indian call centers.  They claim to be police officers, federal agents, lawyers, etc.

You can say whatever you want to them, bomb threat them, tell them that you are going to kill their family, there is nothing they can do about it and there can be no legal recourse against you since these people are out of the country and breaking the law.  They can do nothing to you nor your credit so have fun with them!

"Officer Kevin Nash", calling from Washington DC, (caller ID showed that, and he made a point of stating it) called our business looking to contact an employee "on an urgent legal matter". We had been getting calls from collection agencies for that employee, figure this was just another of those. Seeing these posts rather confirms it.

I recvd a message this morning from a walter peterson. Later in the message his name is then max peterson. Anyways he told me since I let my voice mail pick up the call I was going to be held liable for the charges against me and that he will and has filed the claim against myself. He continued to say that I would need to hire a SMART attorney to help me get out of the serious charges against me. He also stated that I am to return his phone call asap.so I called after business hours, or whqt I thought was business hours and got a recording and the name was john for some investigations. I hung up. And I recvd 7 more calls right after another. I declined all and he kept calling. I am getting tires of these middle eastern men calling, not being able to speak english correctly and threatening me. They need to be worried about the stuff going on in there country and give up on trying to scam the american people.

Received a call from Office Kevin Nash at this number asking for someone that doesn't even work at my office.  I did call back and someone else answered but apparently didn't know who Kevin Nash was.  I informed the person that this was a government agency and that the person they were looking for wasn't employed here. The person told me that they would not call my office again.
