This is frusturating, but slightly hilarious. Our house phone received a msg from Eric Foster. I was laughing so hard bc his accent was so ridiculous. By that I mean over-the-top, fake, etc. He switched his tone several times and covered about 5 nationalities. I figured it was a scam. He ended the message with, "and if I uhh don't hear from you or your attorney immediately well uhh all I can say is uhh good luck." Ha, I was laughing so hard bc most of the comments here discussed his accent, and everyone listed a different nationality. I say to the struggling actor going by Eric Foster, you need to get a voice coach. Your accent is found entertaining due to the fact it's so poorly executed. I'm confident your pranking/scamming people for the sole purpose of practicing your "Swedish Chef attempting to learn Portugese" impersonation. Please do call back, and I will give you free lessons. Also, I detected a bit of north/Midwestern attempts. You should check out the new tv show "Fargo". Some brilliant actors nailing a Minnesota accent. Plus you could relate bc several chaacters storylines revolve around "a pathetic person's life fall apart as he commits a crime" - very relatable to you Foster.

Same thing happened to me, call from "Eric Foster" and pretty much threatened me saying "if you don't take action, good luck to you". Well jokes on them, called them back and threatened them back by saying I will have you and whichever organization is behind will be reported. All he said was "ok" and I hung up. GG.

Thanks to everyone posting. I just got a call from Officer Eric Foster from the IRS saying if I or my attorney doesn't call back immediately, good luck. I did call back, got his voice message and left him a message. Probably should have Googled this first and even though his accent doesn't match to his name (in my mind), I have had identity theft multiple times, so it caused me some concern and the motivation to call him back immediately. I haven't heard back from him as of yet, but I know to block him if he does. Thanks again - oh the power of the world wide web!

Guy who identified himself as 'Officer Eric Foster' left an intimidating voice mail wishing us the 'best of luck'. Called the number he gave us and the lady who answered said she was with the law office of one 'Christina Jones'. Both had heavily accented voices with low English proficiency. Glad I checked online first. And I'm pretty sure impersonating a Federal agent is a felony. May have to take this up with the law. The number they called from was 202-241-6439, so it looks like they have a new line.

They keep calling me asking as an IRS agent they are fake, one day they call for me the next day they call for my son.  They are using different number 201 241 8441 or 225 678 5918.  I even blew a whistle in their ear, maybe they would get the hint.

Same issue as indicated above. Get a call from Wahington DC; 202-241-8441.  ERIC FOSTER "IRS Officer" leaves message 2 times... trying to sound intimidating.  Apparently I owe the IRS money????Exact same scripted message then left be CHRISTINA JONES "IRS Officer".  It's a lame scam. The IRS doesn't call folks asking for money or wire tranfers.

Identified himself as an IRS officer Eric Foster and if I or my attorney did not reach him within 24 hrs, at 2022418441 he would wish me luck with the things which are to unfold upon me. Is it not a federal offense to claim you are a government official? Calling from District of Colombia. I can't stand when they are preying on the naive/gullible/elderly.

Received at 6 am from this number.  Didn't answer but listened to the message they left.  It was an Indian woman and I couldn't understand a word she said except that she was from Washington, D.C. And she was a police officer.

This number is being used by scammers to commit fraud. Presently if you call the number, it is voice mail and purports to be the IRS. They are calling and threatening people that if they don't pay they can face federal charges, etc.

>>> I too this morning got a message on my home phone # from IRS Officer Eric Foster and that Atttorney of Record needed to call immediately to 202-241-8441. Voice was foreign accent, <<<

Those foreign scammers read from the same script and have no idea what they are talking about.

According to the California Courts Self-Help Glossary (see at http://www.courts.ca.gov/selfhelp-glossary.htm ), there is the following difference between an "attorney" and an "attorney of record:"

>>>

attorney: Someone that is qualified to represent clients in court and to give them legal advice. (See counsel and lawyer.)
attorney of record: The lawyer whose name is listed in a case record as representing someone in the case.

<<<

By the way, this difference in the definitions is the same in at least all common law states (i.e., possibly excluding Louisiana, because they are the only state that is not a "common law" jurisdiction) and in the federal courts.

See the difference?  An "attorney of record" can only exist if there is a lawyer ALREADY LISTED IN A CASE RECORD" as representing someone in a case.  If the scammer were legitimate, he would know this and already have looked him up.  So this is someone calling who has NO conception of the law.

Also, see my other warning in the forums of 800notes at http://800notes.com/forum/ta-97219e249ee2fc8/ ... gicjack-numbers entitled "Fake IRS Agents and magicJack Numbers."

I've gotten two calls from Officer "So and So" at the 'IRS' this morning, (both people with very thick accents). They say if we or our lawyers don't call, all they can do is wish us "a very good luck".

>>> he is with the IRS <<<

Congratulations!  Your mother was called by a magicJack user.  He probably used it because it is cheap, cannot be traced, and can plug into the Internet to make calls from anywhere -- and he could get an official-looking Washington, DC 202 area code number, essentially no questions asked.

See: http://www.phonevalidator.com

The other number that he gave you may be a real landline number, and may be somewhat more likely to be a better clue (at least) as to the identity of the actual caller.

My mother received a call today from a Brian Jain stating that he is with the IRS and that my father or my brother was in trouble. He then called back and told my mother to call them back at 347.817.7699 (which is also a scam number) or else they are in trouble.

Look out for this!
