How did you get them to stop???

They state calling because they are Officers and the person is in Grave danger

I too get these calls at least once a month.  They are scammers, I have reported them to the FBI, the FTC and my local police.  I block the numbers but they manage to call from new numbers.  For anyone on these threads, they are not legit.  Report them, block them and hang up on them.

Recieved a call on my cell from someone..could hardly understand him said his name was officer Peterson and I needed to call back or he was going to  call my manager or come to my home.Didn't return a call..figured it was a scam.F****rs.

I just got the message, too. He said he was an officer and he had an heavy Indian accent. He knew the last 4 of my soical security number. He said he will contact my job and seen a police out to my home. When I called back it went straight to there voice mail. I believe they did call my job but I wasn't there.

Received a message from my work that this number called twice for me and said that it was urgent that I call back. "John Peterson 202-241-9258 Washington, D.C. Crime Investigators Dept." was the message I was given on a post-it note. I already suspected what was up since a similar scam call came to my work several months ago, so decided to check the number out first. It sucks that these people can just keep doing this outrageous s*** and just keep getting away with it. Will just have to make my employer, my lawyer, and the authorities aware of what is going on and see if there is anything that can be done about it.

I received a call from this Officer John Peterson on my cell, when I did not answer, he then called my place of employment. I contacted him back and when he answered I informed him that he is not to call my place of business anymore and if he needed to speak with me to call me on the number that he called first. He then proceeded to tell me that he is with a law firm and that I have a case sitting in his office. I asked him what was the case #, the name of the law firm and his customer ID number. He was furious about all of the questions I started asking and became irate and started using profanity and sexual language. I then told him that I was going to contact my local police department and make a report as well as with the FBI. He hung up but called right back. I begin to tell him that I have made my reports as well as with the Federal Trade Commission and he is not to dial either one of my numbers again. If he called back, I would personally come look for him myself, have him arrested, and I would press charges as well as sue him for everything that he has including the shoes on his feet. Honestly, I think that this will work. The number is through MagicJack. Even though they will tell you that an officer has to call in order to get information about that persons account, call them anyway and inform them that this person is harassing you and you would like to report them. Their number is 561-594-9925. If people call, then maybe they will do something about it.

Forgot to say the number was 2022419258 i know he is not a lawier or investigator cause i look under better business bureau and he answer phone but number is  disconnected nunbed in data base

It's a debt collector.

i called back their message and wasted their time until they asked me politely to stop calling them, then i filed a complaint with the ftc.
i advise everyone else should do the same

Omy name is laurehn i received a call today from a guy say i have a law suit against me for a loan hw jnw where i worked at and address and social i lost my card about three or maybe more weejs ago and he said i owe for loan i said i didnt get no loan and i criied and he was like u need get attorney and if i have 1:0now u150 now o get lawyer if lose i owe 4000 i never had this happen and i did go to social security building and told them please find this person they know where i work and address

This is a criminal extortion ring operating out of India. ABC News released an investigative report on it last year. The FTC has indicted one of its ringleaders for criminal fraud:

In the meantime, you are going to have to do whatever you can to protect yourself. That includes letting them know they are running a scam and are reporting them to the authorities.

I just recieved a call from this number also and exactly what was said happened did happen.  I told him that I know it was not true and that it was a scam and he asked to speak to the manager at my job, which I am the manager, I told him that and he told me I was too stupid to be a manger.  I am contacting my lawyer and letting hime know about this.

Getting threatening calls from this number at my work, claims to be an officer and states someone I know owes money and they are under federal investigation for fraud and he is sending Officers to my place of employment within the next 48 hrs to investigate my involvement. Biggest load of BS I've ever heard!

I think about half the people in the country have gotten, or will get, these types of calls. They come from scamming Indians and/or Pakistanis. They are completely worthless, insignificant little weasels who lack any morals or ethics. They are a pest and can be annoying as hell. But they are completely powerless to do anything but make ridiculous threats. They're also incredibly funny when they become aware that you're on to their scams. The profanity and sexual references they like to use shows who and what they really are. Ignore them or block their calls. It's also a good idea to let them know that you, your family, your friends, your employer and your coworkers are all on to them and that they're wasting their time. They also like to tie up phone lines as a form of intimidation or as an immature attempt at revenge for you being smarter and better off than they are.
They are pestilent little runts. Laugh at them. If they get pissed off they'll try to cause havoc. But by doing so to you they're wasting the time they could be using to try and defraud others. So you'll be helping others by causing them to waste their time.
They've been at this crap for years. But people are becoming aware of them and of scammers in general. So they're all getting more desperate. Educate yourself by being aware of the scum in this world with us.

A man with a thick Indian accent keeps calling from this number every 10 min.  He says his name is Office John Peterson from DC Fraudulent Crime Investigator.  Has anyone else received a phone call like this?
