Received call today asking for my husband but didn't use correct name or middle initial for that fact.  I told them this and they said they would take Our number off their call list.  Hope I don't hear from them again.

Man called my home & said they would be out to serve legal documents tomorrow & wanted to know if anyone would be home . When I asked for whom , the name he gave me was that of my sister who has been using my address without my permission as I recently found out . I told him this & by no means would I accept anything for her . I can't understand how he got my phone number because it's non published . He never disclosed who he was with or his name .

The phone number (202) 280-6560 called me and a female told me that she was calling to inform me that a uniformed officer would be out to my place the next day with a summins. Then without pausing she proceeded to say that she wished she could discuss the details of the files but she could not and that she was going to file them in the right place. Then she said that after the files were filed correctly what ever happens was on me.

Now if there is someone out there that reads this and makes heads or tails out of what she wanted from me please enlighten me. I'm thinking here mentor forgot to explain what she was calling people for. She never mentioned that I should pay money or give up personal information notthing.

I replied very normal like anyone who was confused would reply by saying "The files that you wish you could discuss but can't". "What do you mean"? Before I could complete my sentence she talked over me saying incomplete thoughts and her tone became very aggressive as if she was telling me off and had some type of upper hand on me and the phone line went silent. She basiclly paniced I'm guessing and hung up on me. Her mentor must have seen her crumble and told her to call back.

She called back within 2 minutes and I answered saying " Oh you called me back"? She responding saying to me "Are you going to listen or just talk over me"? Now since all I did was listen and talked only once with a clarifying question of why she was calling I now realized that she obviously was a fraud. I responded to her asking me if I was going to listen by saying that collecting peoples personal information from dumster diving and harrassing them to pay money was illegal and that if I ever found out where she was located I was goiung to have her arrested for fraud. I'm not sure how much of that she heard because when I finished the phone was already disconnected.

Needless to say a uniformed officer never approached me and I have not heard back from her since. I ws hoping to play her and waste her time like she was wating mine by giving her hope that I was scared into funding her scam but she spooked herself. Oh well maybe next time I will have them run around in circles.

just received a call from Tony at a process server's office in DC - said he had legal docs on his desk for me and he was not legally allowed to open them but he needed to serve me with the documents for me to appear in court.  i told him, if they are notices for me to appear in court then he needed to send them to me.  he asked when i would be at work and i told him that did not matter he needed to get me the proper documents and hung up.  either these guys are not who they say they are or they are idiots.  either way i'm not dealing with them.  according to other entries here, it would seem they have changed their tactics also.......someone was calling me about a deed to some property of mine a couple of weeks back - i have no property.  times are tough and i am not going to make it any tougher on myself by staying on the phone with these guys.  i am listing these guys as a "bad number" on my contacts and will not answer it again.  don't know why i answered it in the 1st place :-) :-(

October 25, 2011 -- Getting calls from 202-280-6560. Person on the phone is telling me that they work with a process server and need to know my address so they can serve me a supeona regarding a credit debt with an account I never had. And get this, they say its dating back to 1996...15 years ago!!! I think they're a bit outside their statue of limitations... by about 13 years. They're saying the firm with the complaint is the 'law firm' of Cohen Levine and Assoc. These guys are nothing but an ultra aggressive collection company using unethical scare tactics to scare people into paying them money. This is a major scam going on. I'm turning them over to the FBI.

This number contacted me to serve my deceased father a summons. My phone is registered to another name and the only way they could have gotten that info was by searching me or
my last name via facebook. That is illegal. I have since been trying to call back, thank you previous posts for the number to reach them.

Got a call from this number looking for someone (I didn't remember who) trying to tell me to give some court summons information to them and to call 855-541-2795 with a case number. They (person on the line) said they need to give this to the officer so they can serve the summons the next day. I told them to send the police to that person's house and to never call me again. Idiots.

Got the same call everyone else has reported.  They said I had to be home tomorrow between 9am and 4pm because I was going to be served paper ( a summons to court).  They also gave be another number to call (1-855-541-2795) and a case number.  They stated that I needed to call right away before the end of the day.  Yeah right! I'm not falling for this scam.  Second time this year I've received this phone call.  Last time I told them I had talked it over with my lawyer, needless to say I didn't get served.

Rcvd missed call today (9/28/11)- tried researching the number first.. a google/yahoo search kept producing Wrecker/Tow/Locksmith type results, but with no specific business listed?  Somehow the number must be (erroneously) linked to some OLD wrecker service number because nothing with current business information can be found.

I'm tending to agree with the numerous postings here that it is some type of scam, especially since all these postings have occurred within a short time-frame.

a- heed other's warnings and don't give ANY info
b- thank Goodness I knew to also check this site!!
c- thank YOU for posting, and those who have posted, info regarding this call. I was hopeful it was some .gov agency trying to offer me a job; however, it was not Washington calling for my service after all  (lol)

I received a phone call from this number too. I gave them no information. I tried to get the callers personal phone number and address but he refused to give it to me. He said he worked for some processing firm. He tried to give me some case number and to call a law firm but I told him I have nothing more to say to him if he doesn't identify himself. I hung up.

I will bet this is another phony business name o'the week being used by a fake payday loan collector. Peruse the many, many comments on relevant threads here and see if their stories match yours. If I'm right, here's what else you should know .....

This scam has gone on for years and has grown in popularity with Indian and Pakistani criminal boiler rooms. Just as in American debt collection agencies, reps are trained to regard everyone they call as a liar and deserving punishment. Their often absurd threats are empty and their rude tactics are illegal under federal law, the FDCPA. Do not believe their lies, do not argue with them, do not comply with their extortionist demands. Show them you know you have rights they are trampling.

Debt is a civil and not a criminal matter. No matter what you are told, no one is coming to arrest you, and you will not be jailed. There is no valid debt claim and no court order to seize your assets. You need not pay a red cent in ''settlement'' to make their inflicted pain go away. (Really, if they were that sure of your liability, wouldn't they simply hire a lawyer near you to sue for the full amount plus interest?) You will note these often barely intelligible bullies have a laughably poor understanding of American legal procedure. Their hope is that you are just as ignorant.

Try demanding a mailing address and a full business name. If the caller fudges his answer and you cannot verify it, it's likely a PDL sham. Challenge their horse puckey threats; they often make rude remarks and hang up. As the bullies like to hassle people at workplaces, advise your employers and coworkers these calls are garbage and not within your personal control.

The usual response to such a runaway debt collector stateside is to send a cease-comm letter and file suit. If you find a valid US address, please do so. Fierce consumer lawyers will leap at the chance to run such a case on contingency. However, being mostly outside U.S. borders and having no discernable addresses, these particular criminals rarely make it possible for individuals to punish them.
