Received an automoated call that left a voice mail stating an IRS agent "Heather Gray" needs to hear from me right away before they take legal action. I called late at night around 10 PM to leave a message to call me back and the mailbox was full. Called again in the morning and the guy had to look me up by phone number. I should have known then, that it was a scam. He proceeded to tell me I was being audited back to 2009 and that they wanted to take legal action such as revoking driver's licese, seize assets, freeze credit cards, and have someone at my house waiting for me to arrest me. I asked for further infomation since I have always hired a CPA to file my taxes and explain where the calculations went wrong. The proceeded to ask me if I was ever arrested or have oustanding charges with the police. Then he said he wanted to put me on hold to get his supervisor on the line and that perhaps he could help me out. He got on the phone and said he would call me back in 5 to 10 min. During that time, I was able to Google the nmber 202-280-7395. That is when I stumbled on this website and others claiming that this is a scam.

We received a voice mail in our voice mail that this is IRS and there was a discrepancy, the person who left a message was named Mr. Smith. It was a heavy accent, it was hard to understand, but I called back. They said we owed more than $8000, and someone filed law suit. Unless we paid, IRS will take our home, car, etc, I I called back and spoke with the person, and I gave my phone number, but I could not understand their English, so I asked them to say again several times, then they hang up. Just ignore?

Received a robocall message from "Hannah Gray" from the "Internal Revenue Service" 202 280-7395 on 4-26-2014 (Sat. morning). Glad to hear it's a scam.

There is a Tax/IRS Scam recently and we just filed a report with the Bridgewater Police. A person (very heavy Indian accent) called claiming to be the IRS (legit Washington, DC telephont number) 202 280 7395 telling tales of falsifying tax return; threatening litigation/court, immediate police capture/jail time, seize license, bank accounts, etc. At the end, they requested payment in cash within one hour, and we have to stay on the cell phone while completing the task of money withdrawal. I personally find that last statement hilarious. However, after we hung up the phone, they called back using a legit police telephone number (in our case, they used our Bridgewater Poice Station's number - we checked). They threatened immediate jail time...I told them we will call the police and then they hung up. They advanced to next level, using local police number to threaten you. Be aware !

Received a phone call this morning claiming I owed $7,895 and armed IRS Agents were on the way. I told him I already sent the check in to Lois Lerner. He didn't seem to know Lois. I said you should, she's been in the news quite a bit lately so look her up.

Has called from this number for 2 days claiming to be IRS. Today they repeatedly called over and over telling me to not hang up on them that I was taking this lightly. The actually claimed to be the federal government (which I know is untrue). Accused us of tax fraud over the last 10 years..

I was called by Tory Miller 202-280-7395, Heavy middle east accent threatened to be arrested if I didn't call him back. He said he was from the IRS and I had a deficit. I had my CPA call him back because she new it was a scam. IRS will never call you if you have an issue with taxes its all done by mail. When he was asked for his IRS Id number he hung up the we called back and told him we are going to turn him into the IRS and he hung up. called again and he block our number IRS will never hang up on you either. SCAM SCAM....... wow guess the scammer didn't like to bothered by us. oh well loser.

Ray 2014-04-24 21:41:05 Unknown
Yup I just got a phonecall too just now and figured it was a scam, told them to send in writing and kept getting threatened that I would be arrested. I refused to call his supervisor back which incidentally was at the same no. he called fro and said he couldn't transfer me. Then a so called supervisor called me with the same line of questioning and said I would go to jail, even tho I had never received anything in writing and he couldn't even verify any of my details which I said I was not willing to share. Beware!

I just got a recording from "heather at the internal revenue service". The recording wanted me to "immediately call this number when I got the message or "push 1 to talk to an agent about an extremely urgent item." Urged me to reach an agent before the IRS took legal action against me. What a bunch of garbage. I hung up on the recording...then immediatly went online with the phone number to see if any others had gotten similar messages...no surprise that I found this set of posts!

We received a scam phone call from 202-280-7395. The caller said his name was Don Thomas and that the IRS was taking legal action against us. We are all up to date and paid on all of our taxes. Please beware.

I got the same call call this morning, makes you wonder how much money these people scam us out of each year.
Val O 2014-04-24 00:05:17 Unknown
A man with a very heavy accent called yesterday afternoon and left a msg saying there was a discrepancy with my tax returns and that me or my "legal representative assigned to my case" needed to call him back before legal action was taken against me and that it was very time sensitive. This morning I got a similar call but it was a recording (woman's voice), basically stating the same.

I got the same voicemail (they called 3 times in rapid succession) saying "Officer Heather" from the IRS needed me to call immediately to avoid legal action.
The IRS scam link above was helpful (http://www.irs.gov/uac/Newsroom/IRS-Warns-of-Pervasive-Telephone-Scam)
I'm glad this is being investigated
From that website, here's what you should do if you got a call:
If you know you don?t owe taxes or have no reason to think that you owe any taxes (for example, you?ve never received a bill or the caller made some bogus threats as described above), then call and report the incident to the Treasury Inspector General for Tax Administration at 1.800.366.4484.

April 15 = tax time = IRS in the news = scammers come out of the woodwork!
CaliforniaSteamer 2014-04-23 15:16:03 Unknown
Got the call today. Looks like this guy is not too creative... Same name (Damion Marshal), same number, no attempt at caller ID blocking or spoofing. From the dates on this thread, looks like he gets really active in the April timeframe.
