I'm from Toronto & they called me earlier today but from a Chicago-based number (7737474010), then again from an unknown number. They claim to be from a Consumer Awards Centre based out of Woodbridge, ON. According to them, I filled out a survey at a mall, Walmart or Kmart and I was the winner of 1 of 2 prizes, which both include a 5 day hotel stay anywhere in North America for me & my spouse (which I don't have). They only had my cell phone number, not my address, age, marital status or my name.

The person had an Indian accent and wanted me to hold so they can patch me to their manager, after that I'd be able to choose a prize with no obligation. He said that I had to go to their offices with my non-existent spouse to collect my prize. It sounded really fishy so I told them I was not interested and that I thought it was a scam because I didn't remember giving my phone number in any consumer surveys, only my e-mail. He hung up on me without responding.

I'm glad after Googling & finding this thread that I didn't buy what they were selling. It is definitely a complete scam.

Thought I'd also mention,
The only ballot for anything in the past year I filled out was in Loblaws for thier grand opening.
Be careful who you give your cell numbers to is also a warning. Even trusted companies will sell info for a profit.

I just recieved a call from these guys but from +7 (163) 328-59-6.
I only answered because I was curious what spammer it was today. I was half expecting the cruise ship call.
I also live in Toronto and this guy tells me the same story, I won a prize from a contest I filled out in a ballot at a mall and to go to thier head office in Woodbridge.
I was really surprised because when he listed all the malls here where I could have filled out a ballot, I hadn't been to half of them in my life and the other ones I definitly did not fill out any ballot. So I kept asking him how he got my number. He had no idea my name, any personal details and just yammered on in a terrible accent.
I kept asking questions to keep him on the phone as I was googling for answers. Eventually after he somehow confirmed I was single ( even though I said nothing), asked me my income, and then started to try and get my name, I refused to give it to him and asked his company name. He said it was consumer award center acting on behalf of (insert other company name here).
That's what lead me to this website and I thought I should post to let people know it's pretty slimy and to NOT give personal information over the phone.
If you did fill out a ballot.... don't you think they'd at least have a name??

My boyfriend got a similar call.  They called a bunch of times.  He was all excited because he has never won anything before.  We set up a date and were going to attend tonight at that same address.  I was very skeptical when they had asked for 2 peices of identification (I think one should have been enough to prove it's you and claim a prize).  So before wasting my time and driving an hour and a half in rush hour traffic I decided to google it.  I'm so happy I came across this.  I read my boyfriend a good chunk of the posts.
The scary part is,  that I did fill out a ballot.  It was to win a car or a trip..... I was hoping maybe for the car.  Anyways how are they getting our information?  Was the box theirs? Was it fake advertisment?  Was it not theirs?  Did they steal the contents of the ballots??
I really hope something can be done about this.  But it doesn't seem like anything will happen because here I am the first post was in 2007 and I am now writing in 2011 almost 2012.

I'm in Toronto, Ontario and I received 3 calls tonight.  The first two were dead air, but they came 1 right after the other.  I kept answering because I thought it was my roommate calling from his cell, and that his call was getting dropped.

Man with a heavy Indian accent who had the first intital and last name and our address, but without the apartment#.  He claimed we filled out a contest form an Dec 18 2006 and that we won a draw of 5 prizes (one could be a TV! oh boy).  He said he was calling from Buffalo and that I would have to go to his office in Toronto for the draw.

I told him that there was no way that the form was filled out by anyone in our house because 1.) we never fill out such forms and 2.) if we did, it would be for something we really wanted, and if that were so, then we would have put down a first and last name and apartment#, which was information he did not have.

He was very argumentative and could not believe I did not want his free gift.  I said "nothing is free" and that he must be representing some company that was trying to sell something.  He denied that and said I could win a TV.  I retorted that I could win a coupon to tour a condominum or comestemtics bag, neither of which I wanted.  Finally he admitted that he was representing a company promotion.  He would not let up and finally I told I'm hanging up now, do not call back.  His last words to me were okay, if you do not want what belongs to you.  I told him he had my permission to go claim it for himself.

Same as DCP, apparently they're still at it in the Toronto area.

I received a call from a guy with an asian accent at first from "Ontario Source International" who had quite a bit of my information, similar as if I had filled out a ballot.

Apparently I had won 1 of 5 very nice prizes, but couldn't tell me what it was until i go to their gifting center in northern Toronto. A different address then others who have posted here, 6175 HWY 7.

Sounded too good to be true, but I was intrigued. He then forwarded me to his "Verification Manager" ... who happened to be a guy named Alex...

He was VERY insistent that I bring my significant other. They had a lot of info on me including my income range. Requested that I bring 2 pieces of ID and that I MUST be there at a specific time to talk to his secretary "Lynda" or the door will be locked. "The entire process will take no more then 60-90 Minutes". I asked how I was selected, he said that I had filled out a ballot in Sept 2009 (Almost a full year ago). I was very skeptical, but still played along. Sounded like a timeshare or buydirect.com thing, but he insisted it was nothing like that. Said it was a new company forming and they were giving out gifts so people would speak highly of them via word of mouth. Had pyramid written all over it ...

They setup an appointment but the timing didn't work out as I have been very busy lately. Alex called me from several different numbers over the following 2 weeks to try and get me there he had times available at all hours of the day and night. I kept telling him to pass my prize to the next person, but he kept insisting that I go because they had already made a small investment "Something like $100" to make me feel guilty. He quoted that several times.

Eventually I got him to give up on me after telling him that I had asked him many times to pass it to someone else.

Hope this helps someone who searches as he calls them.

Its a complete scam and I told them for $13,000 you could do A LOT more than what they are claiming and my mother is not well and will not be able to go to these in a couple years as her heath is not doing so well! But these people PUSHED SOOOO hard that they felt obligated in purchasing these! I have heard of court cases that are started up about these guys! If you hear anything or someone is pursuing them please email me back @ andrewmaw@live.ca thank you!

Geo Holiday is definitely the BIGGEST SCAM WHICH EVER EXISTED.We were solicited by phone and offered a free vacation package with no obligation for attending a promotional presentation for a maximum of 90 minutes starting at 12:30
Me and my wife have been very naive not to research about the company before attending the presentation near Pearson airport and here we are paying a big price. They misled us there one year ago and we ended up signing the contract. I am interested to meet with anybody has same problem to stop this crime.

received the same call just this week. this time, the name is nelson of consumer center. the same storyline and everything he used the number 412-222-2222, and his supervisor steve's number is 716-543-9495.  i really wonder why up to this time this "scam" has not been resolved by proper authorities. i've seen a lot of write ups and complaints against them and proper reports have been filed to the police. i'm surprised why  nobody from the government has intervened. these people should be punished and put to jail.

I have been receiving calls from this National Gifting Centre, since last year, first on my cell phone then my home phone.  The person on the phone said he was calling from Buffalo, NY, with a thick Indian accent, he said I have a prize sitting in their office since Dec. 2008, and said I have filled out a ballet in Dec2008. It is funny how they will make up a story to scam you into it.  I said on the phone million times that I am not interested, but they still call me for long period of time (over a year), and the most funniest thing is, I have just moved into a new house in Feb 09, and they said i have filled out my information since Dec 2008, that really doesn't make sense (they called my new house), how could I forecast my new address and info in Dec. 08.  Next time please have your information right before you start scamming people.  The caller also said he would transfer me over to his manager so that the manager can confirm my prize pick up (1000 cash, or trip to Cancun, or some all inclusive trips, and a plasma TV, etc.), I hung up on them before they could do the transfer, surprise surprise, called me back and asked why I hung up, blah blah blah....! It is very annoying, they are just some persisting, scam dogs and dumb too!

Ditto -- just got a call that was almost identical to what everyone else here wrote.  Noticing the dates; seems to have been going on for years. Today is July 31st 2009 so it's still happening.  Guy gave me this phone number: 905 856 1747.  Same Woodbridge address.  Can't wait for him to call me back so I can tell him off.

I got the EXACT same call with the same location thing in Woodbridge.  I told them I couldn't come to their "gifting ceremony" and asked HOW I was in this pool of 'winners'?  They said I'd gone to the mall in the past year and filled out a ballot.  Impossible.  I have a life-threatening illness that creates anaphylaxis to many airborne allergens so I DO NOT go to Malls EVER...and haven't in the past year...so this is a TOTAL crock of bleep.

They even gave me a phone number  310-961-2003  and I spoke to Supervisor Kent Alex, extension 213, who also had a THICK THICK indian accent.  Call centre sounds like it's in India somewhere, or the Eastern part of our globe.

If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is...

This morning at 8:00 am he (indian fellow with a Canadian name) called from Buffalo (718-569-6695), saying my husband and I had a package ready for pick up. As I am expecting an overseas delivery I actually listened to him. How dumb of me! My husband took the call to get the address information and then told the manager that we are not interested. I just hope that they don't start harrasing me again. I was getting so many of these calls last year but all from a Toronto phone #. I was quite surprised that they would go to such length for their marketing. These people are annoying and then also get rude and abnoxious if you try to get rid of them. They need to be reported.

The man (heavy indian accent) said he was calling on behalf of American Airlines. I had won a 3-day/2-night vacation with flight.  All I had to do was go to the American Airlines office in downtown Dallas to pick up my prize.  His ``manager`` got on the phone and tried to set an appointment.  He had personal information.  I hung up.  American Airlines has nothing to do with this.  He is from the National GIfting Center and was trying to get people to attend a travel/timeshare presentation.  The address he gave was not for American Airlines office but for the timeshare company: Royal Palm Tavel, One Galleria Tower, 13355 Noel Road, Suit 1850, Dallas, Tx 75240.  Scam.

I recently received a phone call from 1-716-543-5108 ("Customer Service Centre")  Also a man with an east Indian accent, but with a very English name.  Said he was calling on behalf of Hilton and Marriott business names.  Said I have won a prize package package from them for pick-up at a remote location on the edge of the city.  Total BS.  They had both my full name as well as my husband's.
