Keep getting this call on my phone and it makes me completely rage!

The governments of Canada and the US are gathering info on you!!! Wonder why they allow hundreds of these scams to continue for years - even though they get thousands of complaints to their "Do Not Call" list. This is no accident - they want your information!! I am in Manitoba Canada and  202-329-5143 keeps calling numerous times and everytime I answer and yell into the phone hello a few times I get no response and dead air...and I get really annoyed and fed up and hang up. Wish these people would stop calling as I just got my new phone number.

Got a message from this number, said I won a cruise for 2 to the Bahamas. A quick hang up took care of that.

I just bought a pair of these cordless phones too. Bought mine at London Drugs

Leaves no  message onthe answering machine and it is dead air for 15 seconds if I pick up so I hang up because this is indicative of a tape message.I am in Northern Ontario.

Jan.18@4:59pm - another fake 30-survey scam call - this time offering Nassau/The Bahamas instead of Florida or Mexico.  Their robo-dailer uses some sort of code - my Rogers Home Phone normallhy cuts off auto-dialers and there's no messge; but these scammer get past that every time and I get a pre-recorded 'fake survey' (NOTE:  They are ALL fake!!)

I'm beginning to think its organized crime behind it all - the computer dialers; scam attempts; lists; trying to get your prersonal data or credit card info....

Unless I'm expecting a call and recognize the area code - I'm to the point where I don't answer the phone anymore. These b*****ds have been calling from one spoofed number or another for over two years...every damn week.  And I'm reporting to the RCMP Anti-fraud Centre and the CRTC Do Not Call Registry (and now here - thank you fellow Posters!) every time - if we all make it clear to our respective governments that we will not keep tolerating this; the government will dedicate the time and resources to change the laws/gather evidence so they can shut these B*****ds down!  Please post and have patience - it takes time to build a prosecutable international case.

Hmmm....maybe if we all email our elected representatives every time we get these calls; the officials will clue in and provide the needed funding to get rid of em...??  Why shouldn't they feel our pain, too?!?

Hi, Just missed yet another call from this number...immediately called it back - and the number is not in service...hmmmmmmm.

First of all is doesn't matter where the AC is assigned.  The call is most likely not coming from anyone in Washington area.  It could be from anywhere.  The best way to handle all such calls is first of all, get an answering machine or sign up for voice mail from your service provider.  Set up your voice machine or voice mail to ring a bunch of times before kicking in.  Mine is set for 8 rings.  A computer is calling you.  All they want is for you to answer.  Once you answer your you have told them that first of all your phone number is active and alive.  Second you have told them that you are one of those people who answer a phone call no matter who calls.  This makes your phone number very high ranking on the "market".  And, yes, there is a market for your phone number.  All numbers are collected by the computer and then sold off to those sort of companies who care nothing about such things as "blocked call lists" and the like.  If the call is important to you the caller if it is a real caller will leave a message for you.

DO NOT, I REPEAT, DO NOT ANSWER ANY PHONE CALL FROM A NUMBER THAT YOU CANNOT IDENTIFY!!!

Yes, I got the call here a few minutes ago.  And, no, I did not answer it.  And, they (it) did not leave a message.  No problem here.  No need of going out and purchasing another fancy phone.

Got the same call for a trip to the Bahamas. be aware that there's a number from florida too (772-398-5800)

Just got this call in Peterborough, Ontario.  No message left.

Heads up for people.  i have followed more than one of these calls from the States and elsewhere who claim you have won a trip, etc.  I have answered and purposely played along with the spiels in order to eventually get to the end person responsible for these telemarketing calls from outside the country.

You usually have to push the right buttons, then someone comes on and gives you the spiel and says someone will call you right back.

The person who calls you back is actually a Canadian business at least half of the time.

Canadians are using foreign telemarketers to circumvent the Canadian DNC lists and laws.

I had a very lengthy and very straight forward and rather loud discussion with a business owner of some health supplement business in Quebec who had gotten in touch with me through her American telemarketing team who I had played along with.

I told her I would report her if they ever phoned here again. I haven't heard from them since.  Until I decided to find out who was at the end of the chain of these calls, they had been phoning here from the states three or four times a day..  

I have so far caught four Canadian businesses that were using foreign telemarketers to get around the DNC lists.  I just keep reporting them.

jan 18/13 , 5:30 pm newfoundland time just got call from 202-329-5143 saying i won a trip ,then they wanted my credit card number. i said no ,then they started to mad because i would not give then any info.then i said its a scam and iam calling the police.then they hung up.

I've been getting phone calls from 202-329-5143 since before Christmas.  These calls come almost every day anywhere between 8:00am to 8:00 pm sometimes up to 4 times a day. Really annoying!!! How do we stop this?

They just called me, and I called them back after reading these posts. The Number is disconnected, or not in service, and it's a Verizon wireless number.

Called the number. Got a message from Verizon Wireless that the number had been switched. I am in Toronto and this number comes up on my phone a lot. SO today I called back...

This number called and didn't leave a message . I'm so sick of these damn telemarketers

Let's give this number to Iran so they can spam it.  Telemarketers are nothing more than domestic terrorists.

Got one call too and I do think this isn't the first one...
