It seems to be a legitimate charity - but I still don't want such phone calls. Blocking may not help, they have multiple numbers

They knew my first name -- I wasn't picking up the phone until I suddenly heard a real live man ask if *R" was there on my answering machine, so I picked it up.  He started telling me what my previous donation had been, but then switched over to saying that they first start by asking for a $35 donation.  Well, I am almost positive I have never made a donation to this particular Cancer research organization.  I donate to our local American Cancer Society, but that is it.  So somehow, they got my name and number.  I called back to get my name taken off their list, but like someone on this board commented, it will depend on if they really choose to remove it or not, because these non-profits are not subject to the Do Not Call rules.   It was not actually the organization that called me-- it was one of the companies that they hire to do their calling for them.

These people call at all times, evening s, weekends etc .I purchased a call blocker and blocked the whole area code. works for me.

I want these calls to stop. I am on the DO NOT CALL list.

They have been calling every day. It goes in cycles. Sometimes they don't call for a month or so. Then, it starts up again. In the early days we'd answer and if the one they were calling wasn't home, they wouldn't listen to the other one. They didn't honor our "no" when they asked for participation in a home mailing campaign as a fund-raiser for them. They play on cancer survivors' wish to "give back" by doing the mailings and using their own postage. I have been answering lately and just letting the phone sit as I go about my business. I hang up after a few minutes. Doesn't do anything, though. I don't know if a robocaller would react to an air horn, but I'm tempted to buy one just for these jokers.

They call every day and are the top nuisance call / DNC violator. Some early calls before 8 am and some at all hours. Never plan to talk to them unless a good prank comes to mind. Never giving them a reason to continue calling as they don't respect my DNC request to begin with. Talk to my machine. Leave us the hell alone!

we get 3-4 calls daily from # 202 688-0621 that is identified as  ACIR .whenever we  or the answering machine answers, the caller hangs up. Emails do not go through to the web listed.

I just called another # of theirs 202-698-0632.    When the message begins press 1  then 3, you're told the government allows 30 days to complete the request, but they will try to remove your name within the next couple of days. I'm sick of their calls day or night, weekends every single day. I'm glad I found a way to stop them, just hoping it works.

CONSTANT PHONE CALLS - PHONE HARASSMENT - FOR THE PAST MONTH EVERY DAY WAS AWAKENED AT 8:15 THIS MORNING! I HAVE HAD IT! I JUST SENT THEM ABOUT 50 E-MAILS SAYING STOP!!

AICR ALSO USES THE FOLLOWING PHONE # (202) 888-2764 As usual they ask for contributions. Even though i informed i won't contribute and asked to remove my phone # from their calling list they keep on calling & try to snooker other members of my family to give them money!

I have been receiving unwanted calls & emails from this company(or whatever).How can I make them stop?They hang up after 3rd ring.

After googling on AICR phone calls, I made a list of phone numbers listed. I then had to call each number to request having the calls stopped, which took me about 1 1/2 hours. A rep replied at one number and said she worked for InfoCision, and AICR was their client. Yea, I used to support them. Until I started getting all kinds of look-alike mail from those they sold my info to. Never again is anything with my address attached going to any of these vultures. Makes you wonder how they can afford all that junk mail after paying CEO and still have funds for cancer research. Director of National Cancer Research, Cancer Society of America, etc all in the same days mail was an interesting photo subject. And, one heck of a wake-up call! Now, they can add daily phone harassment to their fight against cancer.

Yes, indeed. AICR and a different 202 area code number every day of the week. Never a message. Where is the phone provider who sees a market for call blocking phones? It would be great to have a phone with a Block button to press each time one of these harassing calls and have the phone reject that number forever more. One thing that does not work is Do Not Call list. Not worth funding - don't we have the talent to develop a system here?

I found how to get rid of this caller - American Institute for Cancer Research.  The calls are placed by InfoCision.  Contact the Better Business Bureau, Wise Gift Alliance Department, in Washington, D.C. (area code 202)  and file a complaint.  Explain in detail what is going on, including asking to be taken off the calling list and all telephone numbers used (I know of six).  The BBB will then contact AICR and in a week or so you will receive an e-mail telling you that your number has been removed from their calling list.  You might also want to read an article about them at http://www.bloomberg.com/news/2012-09-12/char ... lemarketer.html.

I've been receiving unwanted calls from 202-599-8630 and they leave a recording on my answering machine saying that they will call back!  So, it's even worse than just repeatedly calling.

I support the American CancerSociety.  I have been a volunteer for them for 19 years.  they do fund research, train volunteers, promote cancer awareness and programs for cancer patients.  Are making efforts to use all donation wisely.

We have been getting phone calls from this number for months. Is there any way that these calls can be stopped. As far as I am concerned this is Harassment!!!!!!!!!!!!

They keep calling, though I once answered the phone and told them to stop this.
