They claim they are college republicans wanting advice from their elders.  Good luck with that.  They want you to listen to a one minute "commercial" and then they have a survey they want you to take.  I have some advice leave us alone.  They also ask for you by name.

Political Call
This is a canned call from the Republican National Committee looking to solicit funds.  This is a business and they call here weekly.  I have called a couple of numbers, and finally reached somone and asked them to put us on their do not call list, but they still call repeatedly.  This is very annoying and harassing.  I wish there was a way to stop this, but apparently there is not.  I wouldn't contribute to them and I wouldn't vote for them due to this annoyance.

The caller ID says important.  When I called back to ask to be put on their Do Not Call List, it is a recording and nowhere does it prompt you for removal.  These people call here 3/4 times a week, it is so disgusting, and I have tried repeatedly to get them to stop.  This is a business not a personal residence.  I wouldn't contribute to them ever.

You can add your number to: http://stoppoliticalcalls.org/index.php - to stop all those calls.  Also call the respective parties (democrat, republican) and ask them to remove your number from their call lists.

Political Call
God, I don't know how I managed but I seem to get calls from every crank political fund in the nation, both Republican and Democrat, and I don't understand why, I've never donated a penny to either party, never worked for either party, heck I think the last election I voted in was 1992 and I'm currently not even registered to vote (don't want to end up on the Jury duty list). But somehow the powers that be in the telemarketing world have decided I'm the most political person in the nation.

I went through the whole drill.  A live operator identifies the caller as College Republicans and ask you to listen to a message and then answer one question.  The message bashes Obama as bought and paid for by Hollywood celebrities.  They warn you that his successes could lead to the comeback of Nancy Pelosi rubber-stamping his policies. Then they brag as to how great and successful the College Republicans are and will be.  After the message, a different operator came on and asked me the question "Do you think Obama is doing a good job?"  I paused and waited for a scale but there was none.  When I said "yes" she very politely thanked me and terminated the call.  I suspect they would have asked for money had I said yes but I don't know.

Do you have an answering machine? If so, call a none functioning number (just make one up) to get the the phone company's 3 tone dead line response. Record the tones and place them at the beginning of your reorders voice message. Computer generated phone calls will drop when they get the 3 tones.

You can press *60 on your phone and type in the phone # that you want banned, There is a limit of the # of calls blocked, but you can at least report the most annoying callers.

Important 202-367-9216 received again today on I/D.  I did not answer.  I like the suggestion given above about the Attorney General's Office.  I, too, am on the "Do Not Call List," but it does not help much.  Caller I/D is the best way to avoid all this nonsense until we can do something about it.

I found that if I called the dems & rebups and had them remove my number, that they do- it pretty much stopped the calls. I also signed up for the political DNC  :

http://stoppoliticalcalls.org/index.php

The only call I got was ol Newt this last presidential. I went to his web site and wrote them directly and also gave him the url for it and told him to use it!

Peace & quiet! :)

Telemarketer
Got a call from this number and the ID said "Important" which is a pretty low life way to scare people into answering. I didn't. Instead I checked here. Then I added this number to my "call forwarding" list.

Most phone services now have this "call forwarding" feature. It allows you to add a number that you would like certain numbers forwarded to ... then you can add numbers to a list that you want forwarded to that number. In the case of my phone service I can just dial *63 (enter call forwarding) then #1 (enter a number to be forwarding) then #01# (add the last number to call me to the forwarding list.

The result is that when these telemarketers try and call back, their call is automatically routed to another number!

Where to route them to? Well, when I first read this idea it was suggested to pick the number of one telemarketer and send all the other telemarketing calls to him. I did that for a while but then it occurred to me ... since congress has installed a loophole in the "Do Not Call" registry to let these jokers do this, then THEY must ENJOY getting these calls!

Now telemarketing calls are forwarded to my congressman's local office.

I'd hope that if you are reading this you will pass this idea along.
If everyone did this, than perhaps congress might be motivated to close the loopholes and enforce what little laws there are.

Have them permanently blocked on Caller ID. Mine comes up Private or College Republicans.Probably 30 calls a month. If I lived alone (sans spouse and dogs, that is) I'd get a shrill whistle and blow it into every one of these scum bags' ears instead of saying hello. Easier to get a house phone that blocks 250 calls without the first ring. Panasonic has a bunch.

If it's got the word "republican" in it, then bilking you out of money is only the start.

The only thing worse than a democrat is a republican -- and not by very much.

This "College Republicans" group probably doesn't exist, or at least it has no members and no mission except to bilk people out of money.  I have been getting calls from them from at least five different phone numbers.  For a while, they used 202 area code numbers.  Now they're using 301.  Actually, I don't think it's a group.  There's a name that keeps popping up on the websites that I've researched:  Alex Smith, A. Smith and Alex Schriver.  His bio indicates that he's a lobbyist and fundraiser for some Republican committee.  He seems to have had a few legitimate jobs as a low level political operative.  Now he spends his time scamming people with robocalls for the College Republicans.  It's clearly a scam.  I doubt that a College Republicans is a real organization.  Mr. Smith (or Mr. Shriver) probably takes any of the money that comes in.  He's spooky, and these calls are not only annoying, they may be criminal.  Certainly some attorneys general might know about it.  Also, I think the FCC may have  a number to call or a website that collects complaints and data on scams like this.
