I have been get calls from AICR for at least the past 6 months every day!
Make them stop!
I give to the American Cancer Society!

I found how to get rid of this caller - American Institute for Cancer Research. The calls are placed by InfoCision. Contact the Better Business Bureau, Wise Gift Alliance Department, in Washington, D.C. (area code 202) and file a complaint. Explain in detail what is going on, including asking to be taken off the calling list and all telephone numbers used (I know of six). The BBB will then contact AICR and in a week or so you will receive an e-mail telling you that your number has been removed from their calling list. You might also want to read an article about them at http://www.bloomberg.com/news/2012-09-12/char ... lemarketer.html.

Who are these people and why do they keep calling my office number? I am on the do not call list

Just received a call today 8-24-2010 from AICR asking for my father by name (with different last name than mine). My father died 12-3-2000.
very unsettling and annoying.
They should update their lists and how did they get my number, Dad never lived with us.

I, too, have received numerous calls from AICR. They are persistently annoying! Since 1/01/2010 till 2/24/2010, I have received numerous calls from the following numbers: ( all area code 202 )
607 2726 Surprisingly enough, I haven't seen 367 9225. I was happy to find the 1 800 843
495 7181 8114 number and will try the call. I believe you can also dial *60 and follow the
652 4597 prompts. I would think that if they have so much money for so much calling, they
870 5882 certainly won't miss mine. It is because they are so persistently annoying that I
870 5979 refuse to answer anymore calls.
367 9060 Good luck to you all and thanks for the info.

Called 1-800-843-8114 (AICR) as GH (17June09 entry)suggested and was connected to a person who identified himself as Don. I stated I was receiving calls from a telemarketer on behalf of AICR and desired the calls to stop. I was requested to provide the number of the originating caller (202) 367-9225, which I did, and was informed the situation would be taken care of.

I answered a call this morning at 8:13 am from this number. It was a guy named Kevin "something or other" calling from the American Cancer Institute. When I told him he woke me up, he said he'd call later. I said, "please don't". We shall see.

Get calls constantly from this number - no one answers - this is extremely annoying - need it to stop!
SP 2011-06-06 20:41:26 Unknown
Thanks. I just got one of these calls & put a request into the 1-800 number above. After transferring me to 3 different people, I was told my name & number would be removed from the system. They said it would take 4-6 WEEKS before it would be officially out. I like the whistle idea!
Pessinbrad 2011-06-06 20:41:26 Unknown
They call at least 2 or 3 times daily. Weekends are no exception.
DD 2011-06-06 20:41:26 Unknown
These people call here EVERY day, at least twice. I never answer. Today they've called twice already, and it's only noon. What can we do to make it stop??
chuck 2011-06-06 20:41:26 Unknown
The call is from the American Institute for Cancer Research. They are a telemarketing co. They recruit people from all over the U.S. once a year. And when I read the fine print Cancer Reseach received about 10 % off all donations. Once you answer the phone it is very hard to get off, they are very hard sell people. You actually have to hang up on them.

Have been getting calls from AICR every day for the last week and a half. Since I have Caller ID, I just ignore them. However, having Caller ID doesn't stop you from rushing to the phone when it rings. There has GOT to be a way to stop this nonsense!
oldcowboy 2010-02-04 00:10:56 Unknown
They spoof the caller ID so that a different number appears for each call, making it impossible to block them all. This is common practice among telemarketers and collectors. They also use automatic or robo dialing equipment.

Get calls from this number several days a week, at all times of day -- appreciate the info from those of you who know something about them

Like most others, I too am one the DNC listing but will not go to the next level by blocking the phone number. (Thanks, Mary)

Had a call from 202-367-9225. Never answer calls from numbers or names I do not know. I have an answering service, am registered with DNC, pay extra on my phone service to block calls I do not want, yet nothing stops it! My very elderly, incapacitated mother gets these calls at all times including recorded messages with no call back numbers. She is in danger from falls, etc. and one day I fear she will have a serious accident likely to result in death while attempting to answer her phone! Yet the phone company, DNC and the FCC cannot stop these things. I'm ready to pull the plug on the phone company and just use a cell phone as they haven't yet invaded that area. Why can't the FCC & phone companies STOP this harassment, the invasion of our privacy and right to peace within our own homes from these stalkers? Lets turn the tables and harass the FCC and phone companies with all our complaints until their systems close down from the sheer numbers of weary, angry, injured and emotionally abused customers?

SHE THOUGHT IT MIGHT BE AN IMPORTANT CALL....THEY ARE GOING TO SEND STUFF TO HER TO CON HER NEIGHBORS OUT OF MONEY.....GOOD LUCK.....I ANSWERED THE CALL THE NEXT TIME AND THEY ASKED FOR HER TO THANK HER FOR HER WORK THAT SHE IS GOING TO DO FOR THEM...THEY THINK....
I THINK WHEN AND IF WE GET THER STUFF I WILL FILL IT WITH GARBAGE MAIL AND SEND IT BACK TO THEM AT THEIR EXPENSE.....
Is there any way to stop this garbage from going on?????
lamet 2009-06-22 12:56:22 Unknown
3rd party companies that collect on behalf of legitimate charities are required to put you on their DO NOT CALL list when requested.
Failure to do so - they get in trouble with the DNC laws
John 2009-06-22 12:52:41 Telemarketer
Said they were sending me information to hand out to my neighbors. I had no chance of saying no.

Just got the call from this number "AICR 202-367-9225" and have gotten so many of these that I just answered it. Nobody there. I waited. Nobody there. I said "Hello?" and nobody says anything. I yelled "HELLO!" and still nothing. Then I hung up and went here. Can we get these people arrested? I hope so.
