Has anyone thought about how many officials in Washington & other states are receiving the same annoying phone calls at their homes & cell phones?  Apparently none, or they would be fed up & do something about the problem. Makes you wonder WHOM is getting kickbacks from these legalized scams???

Received a call from 1-202-234-3930 Caller identified self as Estelle from Card Services of America, offering to lower my rates.  I asked the company name and address. She was reluctant to provide this information, but told me: Card Services of America, 1340 Avenue Roux, Zimbeway, South Africa. I asked her to spell "Zimbeway" twice. A number of voices were in the background of the call. Then someone else interrupted her and promptly ended the call. The address given is a fake. the number listed on caller ID has previously been identified by other sources as an originator of scam-type calls. See: http://800notes.com/forum/ta-55ea60849e887f9/ ... -and-scam-calls

Why don't you go to the FTC/DNC site and read?  The purpose and it's functions are explained time after time on this board,  on many threads,   apparently to no avail.  Almost every thread poses the same questions or remarks, time after time and are answered by members of this board repeatedly.  It is time that people do some of their own reading instead of criticizing it for not doing what they think that it is suppose to do.   The DNC doesn't immunize anyone against unwanted calls.  It has a specific purpose that it was created and intended for.  That answer is located on the FTC/DNC site.

Now, I'm getting the calls on my cell phone. This is costing me money. I don't understand why the government permits this to continue. What is the purpose of the "Do Not Call List"

Card Services of America has pirated the Visa help line.  It comes up on my caller id.  They say they want to give me lower interest rates on my credit cards.  Asked for a supervisor and the woman hung up.  I called the number and sure enough a nice young lady in the Philippines said that Card Services of America is using their hotline number to fish for info.

Got a call this morning about them lowering my interest rate to 6% so I pressed 1 and the guy told me he's from "card services" I asked him which card service? He said from VISA card services. I asked but which credit card, which bank are you calling from? He said he worked for "Card Services of America" and made it seem like it was from the government in response to the legislation of 2011 about credit card companies not charging you high interest rate and helping Americans lower their interest rate to help them get back on their feet and thereby helping the economy. He had my name, my county and my zip code but then asked me to verify my identity to be sure he was speaking to the right party. He asked for the last four digits of my credit card which I was reluctant to give so I asked him for the company website so while on the phone with him I googled "Credit Card of America" which of course had no company website just a youtube video referring to them as a fraud scam and I hold Daren Miller (person on phone) that and he said the website is down for maintenance. I told him that I will not give him any privileged information until I can confirm who he works for and he hung up the phone. A true credit card company will never ever call you to solicit business from you or to ask you for your personal information. If in doubt call the 1-800 number on the back of your card. I received an email with subject "Merchant billed receipt" with  an attachment that I didn't even open as that's another phishing scam.

***Please excuse the language as this is the way it really happened.***
Once I got through to a real live person who identified himself, I said, "Eat s*** and die, moth******er!"
Evidently they are being coached to respond with something insulting, because he asked me,"Sir, why do you take it up the a** every night?" in a way that suggested it was a "canned" response.
I didn't understand his question, so I said, "Spit the s*** out of your mouth and speak clearly, you f****ng moron?"
He repeated, "Why do you take it up the a** every night?"
"Now I am really underwhelmed," I told him. "Not only do you not seem to understand that I don't want you calling me, but you've just established yourself as a f****n' homophobe. Well, I'll tell you why I am forced to take it up the a** every night. It's because I can't seem to stop your unwanted advances, even though I've been  telling you to stop for over two years, and you don't seem to have enough moral intelligence to realize that it is wrong to rape the handicapped! Since I know you will keep on calling, I'll look forward to letting you know what I think of your ethical and moral stench. I'm actually surprised that the local landfill has enough compassion to allow you to reside there."
He said, "F*** you," and hung up.
I don't know if I'll get these people to stop calling me, but I can at least let them know what I think of them when they do.

This is an extremely annoying SCAM!!!!  I have been offered the option, from the very same "company", of pressing a number and no further calls would come.  Yeah, right!  I even spoke to one of the telemarketers and pretended to be interested for a couple of minutes.  She would only give me the same name, Credit Card Services of America, would not send me and mail or email with info about their offer, and wanted to get my card numbers right off the bat.  She said that this company could reduce my interest rates to between 0% and 6%.  They must be miracle workers if they can do this fete!  BEWARE!!!!!!!

As long as these companies pay their phone bills, the phone companies love them. The same phone companies that pay to elect congressmen and senators. The same phone companies that have their own lawyers write FTC and FCC regulations. The same phone companies that know they're making even more money -- from you -- every time one of these telemarketers calls your cell phone. It is virtually certain you can't get them to stop. And it will continue to get worse.

It won't do any good anyway. The FTC only tracks trends. Communications laws are written by lawyers for the communications industry to prevent action against these companies. The congressmen and senators are elected with money from the communications industry, so they won't do anything about it either.

OK got another one of these calls today and as ALWAYS I filed a complaint with the Do Not Call Registery. I have been doing that for YEARS but yet this company continues to operate and call me. Lets get together a file a Class Action Lawsuit againest this company. Anyone have info on their location? I have started to look on the interent on how to do this. Everytime they call me it costs me money to answer their call because it comes to me on my cell phone.  I want to get paid back.

Reply back if interested in joining and starting a Class Action Lawsuit.

Well they called yesterday afternoon and again this morning. I do not think our government is really doing anything to try and stop this scam of a company. They just let us fill out a on line complaint form each time we get the calls and want to file a complaint. But I am having fun for those few seconds telling the live person what I think.

I have received several voice mails from this number warning me that this is the last time the offer will be made to reduce my credit card interest rate.   The last time I was home when the call came in and I dialed 1 to speak to a person.  A voice said "Card Services of America" and a male voice answered.  When I asked for a number to call back, the person said "Have a nice day" and hung up on me.

I am on the Do Not Call Registry and was not given the opportunity on this call to opt out.

Yes, this company has been calling me for years, I file a complaint with the Do Not Call Registery each time but it does no good. Since in the past when a live person got on the line after I pressed one they hung up on me as soon as I requested to be taken off the call list, I now do this. I just press "1" wait for the live person, I blurt out a vulger racial statement to the peron (depends on their accent) and I hang up on them before they can respond. And yes a few have tried to say something back just as my phone goes click. Yes, its not nice to do, but neither is what they are doing.

I just got this call come in.  I suspect it's the same boiler rooms operating out of the state of Florida.  They use newer VOIP technology to avoid calls being traced.  There's one or two fellows heading up these operations and they assemble them in rented spaces, and everything is done with internet connections.  No local phone companies are involved and the caller ID means nothing.

Being well hidden behind the phones, employees at these operations are quick to become very vulgar and verbally abusive.  All levels of deception and criminal actions should be expected also.

I had identified two physical addresses in the past in Orlando and Tampa as revealed by whistle blowers who had worked at them.  I made numerous efforts to contact the Florida Secretary of State offices, which is the regulatory agency that is supposed to investigate such things.  I gave them detailed info and physical street addresses after finally finding some kind of internet form to fill out.  Actual phone calls to find humans who cared did not work.

The bottom line is;  These operations have had safe haven in the state of Florida for many years now, and the Secretary of State in Florida has not, and will not, do anything about it whatsoever.

Had a few minutes as I ate the last bit of my lunch to talk to these scoundrels.  I pressed 1 at the "speak to a representative" prompt and got some guy who sounded like he had marbles in his mouth.I put on a fake Swedish accent and he kept saying "I can't understand you."

He actually brought up my name based on their outbound calling number. He asked if he had the name correct and I said "No. They used to have this phone number."

He said "Sorry, we must have called the wrong number" and he hung up.

So they don't appear to be calling specific people that they have in a file somewhere.  Really strange.  FCC complaint filed.

Got a call from this number on 7/20/11 at 9:15 AM.  Recorded message said I can get lower interest rate on my card. Press "1" to speak with live rep.  I did.  Johnathan answered.  He aske me what card I was calling about.  I asked him WHAT CARD WAS HE CALLING ABOUT.  He said either Visa or Master Card.  I repeated, WHAT CARD ARE YOU....  HE replied EITHER.  I repeated WHAT CARD....  He hung up.  I called the FTC  (www.ftc.gov) and filed a complaint.  FTC wants to know about these calls, frequency, source number so they can trace a pattern for subsequent legal action.  You will get a reference number which you can use to make your complaint each time the perpetrators call.  Just writing a complaint on a website like this will not really help stop these illegal "telemarketers".  Be sure you have your phone numbers on the federal DO NOT CALL list, too!
