Same thing as above, if it's too good to be true, odds are it is. Be smart about these things.

These callers keep calling me trying to verify personal information. They say that that I qualify for a government grant for $10,000 because I pay my taxes on time and that they will put the money on my credit card. I give them false information, they put me on hold and I am disconnected after a minute. But they keep calling me back. I received a call today from Kevin at (202)559-7639.

Today, just about 5 minutes ago, I received a call that came up on my iPhone as "No Caller ID".  I was suspicious, but wanted to see about the call, since I have received many "No Caller ID" calls over the past couple weeks, usually with no one at the other end if/when I answered these calls.

A man (with a very difficult to understand accent spoke with me) by my name (not said correctly, of course).  He said he was located in the Washington, D. C. area, and he was calling on behalf of a Government Grant program, but he did not give a specific name of any agency or group.  Highly suspicious in my mind.
He told me I was one of only a very select few people who qualified to receive a $9000 grant.  He explained it to me, asked me a few questions, gave me my address (which was correct).  He did ask my marital status and my age.  He then gave me what he called a "Grant ID#: WG1117, and told me to call the number:  202-407-9185, "IMMEDIATELY" after he hung up.  He reiterated the importance of making the call back immediately.  I did this hoping to glean any information I could to report a scam.  After approximately 8 rings with no answer, I hung up.

I immediately got online to figure out how and where to report this phone activity.

Yours truly,

received two calls in the last 6 months from this #2039234781 saying the same that I need to call 202407915 to receive my 9000. dollars. will not return call. definitely a scam. Because I am a good citizen, If the government wanted to send you money they know your address and would just mail you a check. they wouldn't call to ask your personal information.

Got a call from this number, 001-0000 and the indian man on the line said i had been selected, like many others, for a $10,000 federal government grant. I dont remember applying for any grants/scholarships. He listed a whole bunch of requirements/standards of their's that i had met like having no debts, no criminal records, etc. he didnt ask me to confirm any personal information, he just got straight to the point and told me to keep calling this number, (202) 657-4273, until his "manager" picked up and gave me a confirmation ID number. I dont know what this is but if you are thinking about trying to claim this grant, use a payphone and never answer any confirmation questions or give away your personal info. You never know people's intentions and you can never be too careful.

Received this call stating I had received a $9000 Grant from the United States' Government Grant Monies Division from Agent Michael Watson from the Verification Department.  He asked several questions and I gave him inaccurate information.  At the end of his spill he said I was to call a Henry Foster at (202) 407-9185 and give to him my verification number [AY310] and I would be given these funds via Western Union.

From the get-go, this person was obviously of Indian origin, and was very hard to understand.

This is awful trying to scam people while stating they are helping!!!

Just received a call from a female with broken English (Name: Nellie Black)  Said that I had been chosen to received $9K since I have been chosen since I have not filed bankruptcy, was in good standings.  Asked how I wanted the money, bank deposit or cash.  I told her cash.  She asked why.  I told her she gave me the option and I didn't think I needed further justification. THen she asked for my address and confirm my age.  She gave me a confirmation number and then a phone # for her manager, Henry (202-407-9185).  I then looked it up and found many websites about a possible scam.

Hey not actually Will Smith but ya know. Anyways People I just went through the same thing. They want you off your toes. The shear fact of having thousands of dollars into your account tricks your brain into quickly obtaining that money. Then there gonna ask you for a fee on your part. And that's where you go "and that's where you just blew it bud". Truth be told I spoke with Gary from the Grant manager branch or w.e his broken English said. Hes a good salesman I must say. Freeze your account if you gave him any information.

I was told to call back to this number to receive a $9000 grant from the Federal Grants Dept. When I asked why they were giving me this money he said because I have been a loyal citizen. i confirmed that I had not been involved in any criminal activity in the past 6 months.Wow! Isn't that impressive. The caller(Brian) was foreign (perhaps Indian) and very hard to understand. Needless to say, I did not call back.

Prank Call
I also got a call from this number regarding a so called "Grant Money U.S Federal Rent Department" saying that I was selected by the government for $7,000 grant. After asking some questions regarding this "grant" I was advised by Eric Brown to go commit suicide because I didn't trust the government giving out money for no apparent reason.

Today, I recieved this same call. I have had several missed calls from this same number, never answering because I do not know anyone in the DC area. Having this been about the 5th call in the last week, I decided to answer. It was a woman with very broken english saying she was with the US Government Department. Ummm okay, like I don't know that that's crap.. "Government Dept.?" I entertained the call to see what info she knew.  She knew my last and first name, address, and asked my age (I gave the wrong age). She said I had been awarded a government grant of $7000 for being a citizen that pays my bills and taxes on time, and has no criminal record. She asked how I would like the money: Credit, Bank account, or cash. So I said cash. She then gave me a reference # (KM1257) and told me to call back her "manager" with in 5 minutes at 202-407-9185, and his name was Jack Travis. I get that you can get anyone's info now a days online. . but my address too? This is scary! And I keep that private. I don't go posting my address on social media, and privacy settings are "private".. Needless to say i did not call back.
