SCAM ALERT! These scammers are still going strong. The same guy with an Indian accent THAT CALLED ME 4 MONTHS AGO called me today using the name of Jason Scott. The caller ID said TOLL FREE CALL from phone number 888-225-4660 and I argued with him for 5 minutes. I must say I should not have wasted my time with speaking to him, but I thought this will slow him down and he would call one less person today.

pretty much the same with above comments. My dad got a voice message from officer Alex smith. Then 202-280-7234 (from washington D.C.) called my dad again saying there is some 2012 tax issue and that he owes some money. The lady said Homeland security will call him soon to resolve the issue. Right after the call, a guy from homeland security called, and told us we must to go to CVS or 7/11 ASAP and buy 35 government voucher for $989 or else my dad's case will be processed through court. The guy was trying to get us to go right at the moment and to stay on the line with him until we buy the voucher. I googled the situation up and told him to go F*** himself..... These ppl are animals. ughhhh

DON'T get SCAM!! my dad almost got tricked. good thing I was there. I called the cops and they said these scammers like to target older folks. .. so be safe!!!!

We got the same phone call today and a guy left a message. He said his name is officer Brian Allen and is from the IRS in Washington DC, which has a warrant against my name. And the warrant number is CM100144, and our physical address is under investigation. He said to call 202-446-0243. I'm glad I searched the number on line and found these posts. This is a fraud and complete scam.

Some people with Indian accents called and terrorized my parents claiming to be Homeland Security officers and accusing them of fraud. They profiled my dad because he is Middle Eastern and told him that police would be arresting him and the government would be seizing all of his assets. My mom cried almost half a day over this because they convinced her my dad was going to federal prison. They generously (lol) offered to remove all of his charges if my parents paid then money over the phone via credit card. The man claimed to have a last name Marshall, but there's also a woman who my dad spoke to at 7 pm eastern time when he got off work (federal agencies close at 5). This occurred Monday, January 20th.

Got a call form 202-446-0243.  Same name Brian Allen.  Left VM saying that he was with the IRS and I had a warrant out on my name from the IRS.  Funny thing is I am a CPA and deal with the IRS regulary.  These idiots are scammers and I would love to meet them in person some time.   No need to say any more.

To Rajan:
a person named Alex left a exactly similar message on my phone voice mail that my passport was connected to financial fraud investigation. Phone # 202-446-0243. when I called back that number, a girl answered me and said that your arrest warrent has been issued to arrest you today due to fraud in tax filling. I talked to my CPA and he contacted to IRS. No tax fraud is present on my IRS account.  I have to cancel all my patients schedule due to this call.

WASHINGTON ? The Internal Revenue Service today warned consumers about a sophisticated phone scam targeting taxpayers, including recent immigrants, throughout the country.

Victims are told they owe money to the IRS and it must be paid promptly through a pre-loaded debit card or wire transfer. If the victim refuses to cooperate, they are then threatened with arrest, deportation or suspension of a business or driver?s license. In many cases, the caller becomes hostile and insulting.

?This scam has hit taxpayers in nearly every state in the country.  We want to educate taxpayers so they can help protect themselves.  Rest assured, we do not and will not ask for credit card numbers over the phone, nor request a pre-paid debit card or wire transfer,? says IRS Acting Commissioner Danny Werfel. ?If someone unexpectedly calls claiming to be from the IRS and threatens police arrest, deportation or license revocation if you don?t pay immediately, that is a sign that it really isn?t the IRS calling.? Werfel noted that the first IRS contact with taxpayers on a tax issue is likely to occur via mail
Other characteristics of this scam include:
Scammers use fake names and IRS badge numbers. They generally use common names and surnames to identify themselves.
Scammers may be able to recite the last four digits of a victim?s Social Security Number.
Scammers spoof the IRS toll-free number on caller ID to make it appear that it?s the IRS calling.
Scammers sometimes send bogus IRS emails to some victims to support their bogus calls.
Victims hear background noise of other calls being conducted to mimic a call site.
After threatening victims with jail time or driver?s license revocation, scammers hang up and others soon call back pretending to be from the local police or DMV, and the caller ID supports their claim.
If you get a phone call from someone claiming to be from the IRS, here?s what you should do:
If you know you owe taxes or you think you might owe taxes, call the IRS at 1.800.829.1040. The IRS employees at that line can help you with a payment issue ? if there really is such an issue.
If you know you don?t owe taxes or have no reason to think that you owe any taxes (for example, you?ve never received a bill or the caller made some bogus threats as described above), then call and report the incident to the Treasury Inspector General for Tax Administration at 1.800.366.4484.
If you?ve been targeted by this scam, you should also contact the Federal Trade Commission and use their ?FTC Complaint Assistant? at FTC.gov.  Please add "IRS Telephone Scam" to the comments of your complaint.
Taxpayers should be aware that there are other unrelated scams (such as a lottery sweepstakes) and solicitations (such as debt relief) that fraudulently claim to be from the IRS.
The IRS encourages taxpayers to be vigilant against phone and email scams that use the IRS as a lure. The IRS does not initiate contact with taxpayers by email to request personal or financial information.  This includes any type of electronic communication, such as text messages and social media channels. The IRS also does not ask for PINs, passwords or similar confidential access information for credit card, bank or other financial accounts. Recipients should not open any attachments or click on any links contained in the message. Instead, forward the e-mail to phishing@irs.gov.

More information on how to report phishing scams involving the IRS is available on the genuine IRS website, IRS.gov.

Prank Call
Agent Alex Smith called my old home number and left a message on my ex-wife's machine saying that he was with IRS investigations and there is warrant for my arrest.  Then, I received a call on my cell phone from Agent Jessica with IRS investigations ?ROFL? where she said that my b8ch of an ex-wife called back that 202 number and spoke to her.  Agent Jessica ?ROFL? completely pulled the wool over my ex-wife b8ch and told her that the police on their way to arrest me.  My ex-wife b8ch leaped from joy and gave Agent Jessica ?ROFL? my cell phone number to expedite the arrest and may be to be easier for the police to GPS track me.  Agent Jessica ?ROFL? gave me the same song and dance about the police coming to arrest me.  I pleaded to Agent Jessica ?ROFL? not to send the police and in a final call for mercy, I asked her if she shaved her va**na today or is it still too hairy down there.  Agent Jessica ?ROFL? immediately hung up and haven?t heard back from her again ?wonder why??.

I had some Indian guy call me saying that INS was investigating me and that I needed to surrender my passport. I checked the number on my ID. -- No official telephone registering on the phone ID (example US State Department, or INS, IRS).

I know the accent is North Indian. -- The guy spoke in whispered tones. -- And said something about INS rep Mr. Jim Marshall.

I believe that this is crap. Some sort of bogus Indian scam.

Prank Call
I received a call a few minutes ago. Picked up the phone, got no response, and decided to call back. Was connected to an "IRS agent" claiming to be Jessica. She had a thick Indian accent and asked for me by name. I told her that it was me speaking and asked what the nature of the problem was. As others have stated, I was given false warrant information and asked to pay nonsensical fees. Since the call had the smell of a scam from the very beginning, I asked to speak to a supervisor. When her "supervisor" turned out to be a man with a thick Indian accent, my hunches were confirmed. I ended the call and have since blocked the number through my provider (they were calling nonstop as I was doing so). These people are filth -- don't give them any personal information. I hope no one reading this has fallen prey to this scheme.

Prank Call
This number called my house, they left a message saying that they were and officer and that I was in danger. Is that not illegal to impersonate an officer??? I was very skeptical the whole time because the person's voice had a heavy Indian accent. So i called them back over ten times because they would keep calling me but every time I called the call would end about 20 seconds in. A few days later I call to ask what the voice mails are about but they would immediately answer saying, "Sir, you have called us over ten times! goodbye." So I never even had the chance to be taken off their calling list. This seriously needs to be reported. To say that they need me to call back is one thing. But to actually say that they are officers is way to far and I'm pretty sure that is illegal! The two people who I actually got to talk to also had very obvious Indian accents. I also think it should be illegal how they won't let me get off their calling list. When I tried to ask once they just told again about how I had called ten times and then they hung up.

Political Call
I got this call today on 14 January 2014 from this male who claim to be Ofc. Alex Mitchell ID number 1567 who had an Indian accent and told me that I had transferred some funds outside of the country and got some funds from outside of the country and therefore I have to pay the IRS 4% and if I don't pay this amount within The next 30 minutes the police will knock on my door at my home address when I asked him which address are you referring to he gave me my previous address rather than my current address and at that time I knew it was a scam so I called 911 and the officer came and confirmed with that this was truly a scam phone call and that I should not reply to that person tried to call me again and did not leave a voice message and the officer told. Me that not leaving a voicemail tells you and give you a clue that this is truly a scam.

My mom also recieved a call from this same number. He claimed he is associated with the Homeland Security. He asked for $1,500 in 30 minutes or the police will come take our family overseas. He sounded Indian and the call was first from Washington. Then he called another 6 times after my mom hung up the first time noticing it was a scam. The other calls were from Tennessee or private.

I just hang-up the phone, with this people, they are scammers. but let me tell you I had great time talking to them, I knew from the beginning they were scammers but I went all they way with them, I portended I was nervous and scared, they were so existed. the guy told me he wanted me to pay $2300.00 but because he notice that I was nervous he said the IRS will settle with me for $800 if I gave the my credit card    number at once, so I did (I gave them fake number) shshshsh
don't tell anyone, any way so I called back after 30 minutes to ask if every thing ok now, and if they receive the payment yet, the guy who answered the second time informed me that the charges will be posted the next day, but he did call the police department in my town and asked them not to arrest me because I have agreed to pay the amount I owe them, so I told him did he tell them I paid the full amount he replied yes. and thanked me for my cooperation.
so be  it have fun and enjoy the movie.
