Someone calling pretending to be from the federal reserve to give a one time grant of 10,200 $ . The catch is you have to send them 180$ first. Joke  at least I pay alot of attention and they sure didn't get me

Just got a call and a muffled message from this number. Seems like a scam to me, especially from what everyone is saying above.

I answered the phone. The caller identified himself as working for .....he made is sound like he worked for the FBI but
said something like calling from Washington DC from an investigative bureau. Asked if I had enrolled in any sweepstakes.
They're investigating scams. Said they had mail or some kind of confirmation that I was a second place winner. He said the sweepstakes people had tried to notify me twice. I advised I had not entered any sweepstakes. He said he would destroy the information. The conversation went something like that. Made no sense to me, but I was very suspicious. Sounded like a call center in the background and he had a very thick foreign accent.

This number is 202-470-5449 is Century Credit (Debt Collectors)

I got a call from 202-470-2756, which is the Washington D.C. area code, not knowing what it was reguarding i answered the call. Turns out that apparently I won an amazing amount of money, only for it to turned out that its a scam. Don't answer it or tell them some very impolite words for what they are doing to people. Tell them to get a real job like the rest of us and stop stealing from everyone else.

Answered and the message said he was a detective and i better call him back or have my attorney call. Hahaha ok first off he had an Indian accent so thick I could barely understand him and he could barely speak the words he was trying to say.  I had my lawyer call them back and within 10 minutes the number was no longer in service.  IGNORE

try reverse phone number look up online it should tell you who is calling or at least the name of the company.....

I answered the phone to hear a thick unAmerican accent. She told me that I would get a  grant from US Government and it will only be offered  to me once. She told me to call Joel Porter at 2024702933  to confirm a US grant for more than $8000.00 !! She even gave me a confirmation number to give Joel.  The original call on the caller ID was 202-666-2441

No legitimate award, prize or grant will EVER ask you to pay them.
1. It doesn't make sense. Tell them to take the charges out of the the award. (They will hang up)
2. It's illegal in the U.S.

Asking YOU to give THEM money so that you can get your free money is a dead giveaway that it's a scam.

I was told by this person I've been selected by the us demographic survey to recieve a grant.

its verizon It is an automated number when you call back or answer it directs you to the customer service number to pay your bill.

This morning I had received a call from 202-470-2756 and became almarmed because the recording mentioned thy were trying to reach using my first and last name for a bill I owe. I noticed it's a Washingtion, DC area code and was trying who I owed money too from that location. The only business I have from that area is the Washington Post and this company automatically withdraws from my bank account each month. I became alarmed to check on line who this number is associated with and found this is a scammed company. The company name is Verizon Retrival Center and this company is not my carrier for my home telephone but I do have it as my cellphone company and again I have automatic withdrawls from my bank account.

I called Verizon directly before calling the number the person left in the message and Verizon said they never called and they would never call to say there it is for a late balance, they would say to call customer service.  I gave them 2024702756 and the 8773894908 that they said to call back and the Verizon rep said neither of those are their numbers.  He called the 202 number and he said they identified themselves as Verizon but when he asked them a question, they hung up.  The rep blocked both numbers for me.  Just an FYI so you don't provide them with any personal information.

It's just an automated account message from Verizon for when your account is past due.

Im only a teenager and I get these calls. Not even 15 yet. I ignored them but once I just answered and the robotic was asking for my dad, so I thought it was a scamer so I just ignored it. And Im guessing I'm right.

i keep getting these calls from 202-470-2756. no one says anything. just dead air.

I also got a call from this number, no message. Whatever.

Rec'd call from 202-470-2756 twice now. No message left.
In my opinion, if they dont leave a message, they really dont want to talk to me.

Getting 3 a day now. Will try the block no. method mentioned earlier.

Same here, twice today, not sure who it is or what they want.  I didn't pick up of course, but just annoying as always.

I keep getting calls from those numbers as well.  No messages are ever left.

Called me at work.

I started receiving call from 202-470-2756 and from 202-470-2746 but they never leave messages.. So I don't return them but the times are morning and evening.

Its me again...You guys can go to verizonwireless.com, log into your account and go to 'block numbers'//its free of charge and it'll keep the number(s) for up to 3 months...hope this helps

I have been receiving calls from this number for about 2 weeks.  No message; they are calling on cell and house, both husband and self.   If you dial back it says it's Verizon.  It is not.  Scammer.

There should be something done about these scammers.  This number is portraying itself as Verizon by a recording and ask if you are the person and states to press 1.

Called Verizon and they never called me also said they would never call from such an area code.

I agree with you Greg. It must be the same person/company. I recieved two calls from 202-470-2746 and two calls from 202-470-2756. All calls were in the morning. I did not try calling the number to find out who is calling.
