They called no message left on my answering machine, so it's a scam and not an important phone call. I treat all call like this as such.
SHERI 2014-04-16 14:54:35 Unknown
They never give up and use so many different numbers you cannot block them all. I don't understand the purpose of their calls as they never respond when you answer so what is the point?

AICR CALLS ME AT THE SAME TIME EACH MORNING. IT IS SO ANNOYING! I HAVE MY OWN CHARITIES THAT I SUPPORT AND I WOULD APPRECIATE BEING TAKEN OFF THEIR MORNING CALLS.

Went into the site for do not call and it keeps stating technical difficulties!!! They don't have technical difficulties in calling me several times a week!!!
surrcp 2014-02-14 23:10:56 Unknown
I NEVER answer them and they've been calling sometimes 2x a day, often 5-6x a week for two years.
Anon 2014-02-11 15:04:11 Unknown
There's a link to remove your phone from their calling list. I will have to wait for 72 hours to see if it works.

The BBB is a scam in itself. The business I work for used to be a BBB member, but when it became apparent that you can pay to have your ranking as high as you want it to be, my company no longer wanted to be a member. (The same is true for Angie's List, by the way; it is true that you cannot pay to BE on Angie's List, but once you are recommended to be on it by one person, you can pay to have your company rank highly and to be recommended to Angie's List members.)

Constant daily calls, one to three a day. About once a week, I get approximately 20 calls in a row. Please tell me how to stop them.

I understand where you're coming from. If someone does want to donate to a charity, make sure you do it as anonymously as possible! Never provide any kind of legitimate contact information or they will hound you like a swarm of mosquitoes.
I ran into this problem with Habitat for Humanity. Before Caller ID and when answering machines recorded on tape, a caller would call every day at about the same time and hang up at a point where my answering machine would run the tape to the end with nothing on it, preventing any legitimate callers from leaving a message. One day I was home from work early and at the time of the mystery calls the phone rang - it was Habitat for Humanity who I had donated to just a couple of weeks earlier. I made it clear that their calls were unwelcome, and lo and behold the "mystery calls" stopped.
NEVER give any charity your contact information! They will hound you day in and day out!

Caller ID said "AICR". They claim to be some sort of cancer research charity. My number is on the Federal Do Not Call List, which charities are not legally bound to follow but if a number is on the Federal DNC then clearly unsolicited calls are not welcome at that number. If a charity does not respect my wish for privacy then I will not consider donating to that charity under any circumstances. AICR is one of those who will not ever receive my donation.

Learned long ago that donating to American Cancer Society was a mistake. Started getting mail from every scammer using Cancer in their name. National Cancer Sociey, etc. Got three in one day.
Now it's the daily AICR calls that no one is ever going to answer. Some Children's Cancer thing joined them but no one's gonna be talking to them either.
Learned never donate to any of them - ever. The one year I didn't have time to buy Toys for Tots and sent them a check says it all. I was getting mail in January to join their Christmas Club and, although I have made anonymous contributions for several years since, I still get refrigerator magnets and other junk funded by those cash contributions.

I too am having many calls from AICR. This happens at all times of day. They will stop calling for a day or so and then back full force again. We live in an area that is mostly apts. People come and go every day. I have explained this but to no avail. We too have charities we support but this charity is leaving a bad taste with us. Do they ever think what situations we are in when calling at all times of day? Something needs to be done about this.

There is a good article about AICR and similar organizations and their use of telemarketing companies in a recent Bloomberg article:
http://www.bloomberg.com/news/2012-09-12/char ... lemarketer.html
If you want to know about telemarketers and charity telephone solicitations this article is a MUST read.

They use many different phone numbers. I have 3 or 4 in the past few days, identified as this
outfit, but they are not from the 495-7181 number, but other numbers in the 202 area code.
I don't pick up EVER, so they should GIVE UP!

AICR is a notorious fund raising telemarketer that gives some support to cancer issues primarily related to diet and exercise. The concept of RESEARCH is a tad stretched here but it sure does bring in revenue to support the principals and telemarketers involved.
I tried calling AICR; they listen but don't hear. They stop--then start again. Incessant calls come at all times of the day and week. Some people contribute to stop them. Forget it--they only want more! I even called my Congressman and he inquired of the FCC. Forget it. It was suggested that I use the DO NOT CALL list (I do) and they are immune to it, like Congress (They are). It was suggested that I bring a law suit. This is why Government is failing. It protects improprieties under the guise of freedom. These guys get too much PAY for such nonsense.
The national BBB said they only had ONE complaint about AICR and further, the BBB approves them as a recognized charity. That should tell you something about AICR and BBB. It's time to assess your former thoughts about these organizations and how effective they might be.
Try calling or emailing the BBB in Washington about your concern and try to make it the SECOND complaint they might get about AICR. In fact your complaint might even be the THIRD one they ever receive! These people are unreal in recognizing the problem and working toward a solution. So do call or email the national BBB in Washington to let them know how you feel about being bombarded by their approved AICR telemarketer cancer group! Make a call today! My calls have STOPPED!!!!!

Several months back the phone started ringing nonstop with calls requesting a donation from the American Institute Cancer Research organization. The frequency of the calls occurs from a minimal of several times a week to several times a day, even Sunday. Numerous times, in hopes of getting them to stop calling, they have been informed that contributing to their organization is impossible for I have been unemployed since 2009 and do not even have the money to go to a doctor. The calls did not cease, instead they increased. When informed that our phone number is on the ?Do Not Call' list, they retorted ?we are a nonprofit organization and so it doesn?t matter.? My reaction to her sharp reply was to say ?so you are telling me that unless you receive a contribution, no matter what additional necessity it cost this household, you are going to continue this harassment? which she basically responded yes to when she said ?they accept even merger contributions.? I didn?t believe it. Obviously it is time that nonprofit organizations must abide by the do not call law.

AICR is a professional fund raising group that uses cancer as the basis for needing cash. It stays within the law and does provide some funds for diet, obesity and other general stuff which is common and available in any library. I get 90 or more calls a month from them using automated equipment. I have asked them to stop. They do not.
I find it interesting that the BBB says they are legitimate. BBB has only received ONE complaint in three years. BBB seems oblivious to AICR driving thousands of citizens up the wall with their robocall fund raising techniques. This says something about BBB I suppose.
Maybe if you contact BBB at http://www.bbb.org/us/complaints/ your call might be the 2nd one they ever received about the misdeeds of AICR. Save your money and avoid scams like this one.

I have had the same constant, daily calls from them. They use multiple numbers. I followed the advice posted above and it seemed to work.
Call them back at the number listed on your caller ID, press 1 then 3 then 1 again. They will confirm removal. Now lets see if they do it.
