Got 2 calls from this # as well, but I missed them and when I called back it said it was disconnected. I'm glad I looked this up, I was wondering who it was from.

scam. If you are receiving these calls on a mobile phone then download the "Mr Number" app and you can add this # to your reject list. Problem solved.

Received a call about government money. told him, had accent, I was not interested and this was a fraud call. He stated I was the fraud. Continued to repeat that I was a fraud. Told him I was going to report him and hung up. They call 1-2 times a week. This needs to be stopped. He even had my name. Shows District of Columbia as caller

From past experience it is a scam regarding an offer to receive a Government Grant. When I got tired of hanging up on the number and mad because they are using my cell phone minutes, I told them I had contacted the Federal Trade Commission and if they could see the door from where they were sitting he should brace for a raid. I made someone pretty angry as I then received numerous calls every day (calling me nasty names) and if I didn't hang up, the Un-American voice would continue to call me ugly and uncalled for names until I did. The phone calls continue from several different numbers and as I receive them I block the call and continue to notify the Federal Trade Commission.

This number called asking for my daughter and I told the lady that my daughter was resting, so I asked the lady what she wanted and the lady replied that she did not want to speak to me, but only to my daughter. Then after I told her that she was not going to speak to my daughter at that particular time, I hung up with no regrets. Do not pick up this number, they are rude scam artisits, who want your bank account information. You've been warned!!

If you have a cell phone, you can block it via an app such as Mr. Number.
For future reference for this thread:
As per the Federal Grants website at http://www.grants.gov
YOU WILL NOT BE CONTACTED BY THE GOVERNMENT TO OFFER YOU A GRANT.
The government does not contact people to offer them money. If you do qualify for a government grant, the government does not request payment for it.
THERE ARE NO FEES ASSOCIATED WITH APPLYING FOR A GOVERNMENT GRANT.
Providing financial information to prove that you qualify for a government grant is typical, but you should never pay money to apply for a grant. People who run scams often claim to provide help and sometimes claim to be "federal government" officials, don't be fooled by these scams that request money from you.
ALL GOVERNMENT GRANTS INVOLVE AN APPLICATION PROCESS
If you have not submitted an application for a government grant and someone claims you have been awarded one, it's a scam. Grant money is not given over the phone for a fee. In order to qualify for a grant you must apply for the specific opportunity that you are qualified to apply for.
GOVERNMENT GRANTS ARE AWARDED FOR EXPLICIT OPPORTUNITIES
Government Grants are typically awarded to states, cities, educational institutions, nonprofits and other organizations to fund research and other projects.
GOVERNMENT GRANT APPLICATIONS AND INFORMATION IS FREE
Be cautious of offers that ask for your personal information (especially financial) when requesting a fee to access grant information. You can always access free information about government grants and other benefits at Grants.gov and Govbenefits.gov
If you get this call, please report it to:

I get a call from this number about once a week. I finally answered today and the guy (Indian sounding) said he was from the US Federal government and that I qualified for ~$8000 grant money. All he needed was my bank account number, so I hung up immediately. I 100% believe this is a scam and needs to be stopped! If you get a call from this number, report it immediately.

These calls seem to come in waves. If I actually answer one, as I did the first time long ago, then I get repetitive calls from many strange numbers and area codes.. My new strategy is to push the Ignore button on my phone, do a search of the # and then just forget it. They slow down and actually quit for a while. After a couple of months they start again but I NEVER answer them anymore. That seems to work best. Seems the more often you answer and try to reason with them the more frequent the calls. I am also on any Do NOT Call list I could find but to no avail.

I got a call today from this #. Person on the other end of the line (male/female?? not sure which) identified that they were with the Federal Treasury Dept. and that I had been selected to receive an $8000.00 grant because I had "not filed Bankruptcy in the last several months", and also have good credit, etc. The person went on to say that once I receive the $$ "it can not be used for gambling, alcohol, drugs, and such" I listened becauseI wanted to see where this was going, (and knowing that I was not going to give up ANY information to this cracker) I did confirm my name when asked if it was " " " " ". Then the person asked if I was employed and I answered "yes." My next response was going to tell the person that I was not going to give any personal info. but before I could say that, he/she hung up abruptly. Weird.....and I hope that is as far as it goes. Scammer!! beware!!!

This number (202-506-5346) has been calling me 2-3 times daily as well, supposedly from somewhere in Washington, DC. Anyone had any success blocking them or stopping the calls in some other way?
| annoyed 2013-10-07 18:01:24 Political Call |
I recieved a call today from 202-506-5346. A man with an Indian accent he told me he was calling from the government. And I had been selected to recieve $8,000 dollars.Because the government had selected people in the last few months who had no criminal record and a few other things I couldnt understand. My response was Omg here we go again. Because I immediately knew it was some type of scam. He says what do you mean here we go again. I said oh nothing and let him continue. He said I needed to give him my mailing address and my account address. So that I could recieve the money in 45 minutes and so they could send me the (legal papers). And said I could use the money for bills, shoping, or school. But could not use it for gambling or anything illegal. He then asked how I would use the money. I told him I didnt have a bank account and he told me to hold so he could speak to his supervisor. He then said that because I didnt have an account a court marshel would come to my home in about 3-4 hours and give me the money. I asked him what his name was and were he was calling from. He said Washington DC 200 Independence ave and his name was Steve Marshsal. And then again asked for my address. I then told him that its not every day you recieve a phone call like this. So please excuse me. If I seem a little skeptical. Then he hung up. What will he say next?
