I blocked this number on my phone when I determined it was some sort of telemarketer. However, I see a number of persons who have reported on this site have the actual information on the corporation. If you are on the FEDERAL DO NOT CALL list, go to their website, type in the information and phone #(s) in the violator reporting section. This is what the TM's need to hear - that their information will be reported on the Federal DO NOT CALL website. This is why they don't want to give out any information on who they are - they can be prosecuted and heavily fined. The BBB is useless, other than to receive negative reports on AICR. The DO NOT CALL website can't work without the information to contact the offenders.

I found how to get rid of this caller - American Institute for Cancer Research.  The calls are placed by InfoCision.  Contact the Better Business Bureau, Wise Gift Alliance Department, in Washington, D.C. (area code 202)  and file a complaint.  Explain in detail what is going on, including asking to be taken off the calling list and all telephone numbers used (I know of six).  The BBB will then contact AICR and in a week or so you will receive an e-mail telling you that your number has been removed from their calling list.  You might also want to read an article about them at http://www.bloomberg.com/news/2012-09-12/char ... lemarketer.html.

Get 2-3 calls a day from this number for a minute now. Called the numbers provided earlier in this post and was removed from list. Still getting calls and now when I just ignore it they hang up on 3-4 rings and then I immediately get another call from an unknown number which i have yet to answer yet. If anyone finds out if there is any correlation please let me know.

I have 5 numbers totally that I receive calls from.  They mostly say American Inst Cancer.  Some will say AICR.  I figured out what is happening.  It was explained to me that this is called caller ID spoofing.  You can look it up on the internet.  Anyone with a smartphone or IPhone can do it.  These calls have nothing to do with any cancer research or cancer donations of any kind.  I spoke to the FTC and turned all the numbers in.  I also called my phone carrier which for me is Century Link.  I was told how to block these numbers.  Please contact your carrier and explain to them what is happening and they will help you.  BEWARE,THESE ARE SCAMMERS.  ANY DONATION YOU MAKE TO THEM WILL GO STRAIGHT INTO THEIR POCKETS.  Here is a list of the numbers I have received calls from:

202-643-1991, 202-540-5118, 202-461-3474, 202-870-5859, 202-367-9919.  The last number if you try to call it back is actually a number that is no longer in service.

When I see a number with the area code "202" on the Caller ID, I do not answer it. I wait patiently for the ringing to stop, then I go on with my life. This is an election year, and we citizens are going to be inundated with "flak" from every direction. These spam callers are termites, and they are swarming.

Don't like these calls? Remember that it was Republicans who were against the DNC list. It was Republicans who exempted political calls. It was Republicans (George II) who had the FCC cut back on enforcement. These fake non-profits are nothing but businesses paying big $$$ to the guy in charge and are (and always have been) the base for the Republican Party. Step 1: Vote them out of office. Step 2: Contact your Democrat Representative and request no exemptions for charities or political calls. Step 3: Demand enforcement of the DNC list. (If this country can track terrorists all over the world, it should be able to track down some telemarketers. Step 4: Demand harsher punishment for violators...confiscate the robo-dialers & fines of $1,000 per call. Deportation to India, Pakistan or Iran for repeat offenders (cheaper than imprisonment).

I have received dozens of calls from many different numbers from this scam.  Each time I block a number they call back on a different number.  Sometimes they alter the area code so it does not show or change the name from Am Inst Cancer to Am Inst or AIC, etc. and I have to block the same number more than once.  I called their (800) 843-8114 and left a recording to "please block my number from your scam..."  They should be investigated by the IRS.

This outfit outlined properly in other posts is able to call you day or night as they are utilizing a regular phone number, not 800, 888 etc. in addition, they operate as a non for profit???
They are NOT afflicated or associated with the American Cancer Society but want you to believe they are one and the same. The outfit making the calls is a third party call center who can take upwards of 70% of what is collected.  I have asked them on 3 different occasions to take me off their rolls but the calls keep coming. They are currently in a "new" pledge period looking to scam additional money from those willing to give.
Today they called again, i told them i wanted to give a substantial donations but first would like to receive their annual reports that shows what amount of their donations go to research, salaries and overhead.
Probably will not receive anything.

This is the American Institute for Cancer Research.  They call again and again.  They have a "zero" rating for a charitable organization (see charitynavigator.com).

OMG Andy...that is the American Institute for Cancer Research!  Why do trolls come to these places to write their nonsense.  And having the Bloods or the Crips handling the Do Not Call list ---- what a fantastic idea---NOT!!!

Once again, look at the DNC list site and you will see---charitable and political organizations are EXEMPT from the DNC list controls!

It would really help if EVERYONE did their research and found the truth for themselves instead of believing what some moron tells them!

I use these sites often because we have been harassed for at least 15-20 years by calls to a doctors FAX machine, which has one number transposed and that makes it OUR number being faxed.  We don't own a FAX, this office is aware of the problem, but it continues to this day...I look up the incoming number and reach the office sending the info...some are great about changing the number, others are pure A H's about it.

Anyway, please stop putting nonsense in these posts...there are obviously people not bright enough to realize they are not being told the truth!

I am so tired of these calls.. If they are so close to DC and the whitehouse call ask them for one of those bailouts. My family and I give to the American cancer center every year in honor of our mother.  I don't give out any information  so I don't do donations over the phone.  If we all did this they would not have a reason to call any longer. Granted your mail box may see more junk but I can live with that.  You can aways return the mail free of charge if they come with a prepaided envelope.  Doing this a few times ends the mailings.

These calls do not get through to me. I have "PhoneTray Free" on my computer. It intercepts them and sends them a recorded message or just a series of tones. (I do not have any financial interest in this software.) There are several other features. They have a paid version for dial-up connections, high speed version is free. This will not suit everyone. You must have your computer turned on and a phone line plugged into the modem built into your computer. It works so well, I'd pay for it if it is not free. This program will announce every call you get (if you wish). You can assign names to numbers. You can lookup the number while your phone is ringing if you are near your computer.

I got a call from this number before 9 this morning.  The caller had the most grating voice, but that's not the point.  I always check charities with Charity Navigator, and did so while this woman was on the phone.  The American Institute for Cancer Research gets 0 Stars out of a possible 4 on Charity Navigator!! I told the woman to take me off their calling list, but she just hung up with out acknowledging that she would do so.

Just unplug your phone.  2 or 3 times a day, plug it back in and you will get any legitimate voice mails.  These slugs never leave vms and you will be free from running to the phone each time the slug calls.  And NEVER call the number back as that sets you up as a "live one"!

I got a call from this number on 8/14 at 8:36 AM.  CallerID said "Private Caller."  I believe these calls are not supposed to be made before 9 AM.  I also got a call from 202.461.3474 today at 6:43 PM.  Another poster on this site listed that number as belonging to the same group.  My CallerID again said "Private Caller."  I have Verizon phone service and they do not provide the option to block Private Calls.  I may answer the next one out of curiosity since not answering doesn't seem to make a difference.

Call repeatedly, never leave message.
BTW: Same number that used to be ID'd as "Cancer Inst." or "AICR" "Children's Cancer Research or some other variation.
This would be an opportune time to drop the land line. Apparently that's the only way
to really stop and be free of these unwanted, unsolicited nuisance calls.
