202  "  AREA  CODE  FRAUD  SCAMS".........have  been  going  on  forever !!!
( already  addressed   here  and  in the forums a  million  times   already.......everyone  should  know  by  now !!!  ).


202  area  code  fraud  scams !!!!!

PLEASE  NOTE !!!   THESE  SCAMMERS  ARE ALSO IMPERSONATING   THE  US  GOV'T /  SEVERAL  GOV'T  OFFICES AND   PERSONS....BEWARE !!!

-  they  are   also  impersonating  DEA  officials  /  IRS  /  FAKE  LAW  FIRMS   etc....  with  threats  to  arrest you  unless  you  immediately  send money  via  wire   transfer /  western  union   to some   offshore  country  !!!!!   obvious  scam  !!!

some  are landlines...many  are  cell phones...some  are  spoofed  and  linked  to  offshore foreign call centers  /  countries !!!!
we've  traced  back  most  of  these  numbers  to  offshore  foreign    call centers mostly  in   INDIA /  THAILAND / AFRICA  /  JAMAICA  ETC....

here's a  few  other  numbers  posted  from  the   same  area  code  offering a  wide  variety  of  scams  /  fake  emails and  scams  after  posting  something  on   craigslist   (  old  scam  )  ...... collecting  for  non  existant  "  payday  loans "....free  money / scam  giveaways /  calling  on  behalf  of  a  humane  society..... $1,000's  in  free  gov't  money.........  etc  etc.....stories  change  out  all the  time......and  the  usual  nonsense!!!

**   mysteriously  call to  claim  they  have  several  thousand  of  dollars  to  send  you....just  provide  your  bank  account and  credit  card   right  away   etc etc.........scam scam

several  of  these are  the  usual   long  ongoing  scams   such  as  :  you  have  won a  free  walmart /  bestbuy  gift  card....or  you  have  won a  free  ipad  etc......all  long  ongoing  scams............

Caller: 202 area  code  scams / fake calls /  bogus  calls etc.

Same here but I managed to get them to admit they were actually calling from a call center in India.  They call a computer in the US from India, make up any number they want and place the call.  Comes thru as if they were in DC.

Got called 2x today both calls I got hung up on, but the second was a stupid India(n) saying she was from the U.S. Grant Department and then it hung up.

They have been calling me almost every day to tell me that its a government call and I hsve recived 7000 $ .I yelled at them today so they stop calling me.i hope sp

They just called me Again. I have reported to FCC twice now. still call several times a week. The other number is 202-506-1967.
Oh and before this today I got a new number calling to scam me. OK keep lookout for Microsoft Tech Support, 877-778-9574. This website also lists it as a scam. They ask if you get pop ups, not actually Microsoft.

I just received a call from (202) 582-1234 the person asked for me and said that the government has just awarded me a free grant in the amount of $7,500.  I told the person that nothing is for free - she said I should call her supervisor to get the funds delivered.  I did not respond.........

I called the number back after they have called me several times. The phone number is legit but the number is a hotel in Washington who actually had their number taken as fraud. She told me that it is under investigation and to not give them any information. She apparently has been getting calls from people like us for a while because of these people. I answered 2 of their calls and they just don't say anything. If you actually call it back though you get a legit number.

Claims that I have been awarded $7000 from government and gave number to call (202) 697 9163 with approval code.

This # is to the Hyatt hotel in Washington, it is a scam company, do not give them any of your personal information and report them to the FCC. 1-888-225-5322

They say I've won money  but when I start asking questions they hang up!

I get several calls  week mostly around 6pm, now it' around noon time, I usually get a hang up right away, but today there was a guy there and he asked for me by name!!!!! I told him to stop trying to scam people and he went off in a weird accent and hung up. The call back number is the Grand Hyatt in DC!
The other number that calls me a lot also called 5 minutes prior 202-506-1967 there's no one there either, and calling back it says it's disconnected.

I get @ least 3-4 calls from this #, when I pick up , they hang up , I've called # back & it says # has been disconnected .. WTH !!

this number has called and when i have picked up someone said: you are qualified to receive $ 5000 from federal grant because you have a clear criminal record.After that he told me there are three ways you can get that money western union, bank account and i forgot the third one, then he advised me to go with western union, told me to  grab a pen and gave me a number and Brad Johnson  name to pick up the money.

This number has called several times and when I answer they hang up.
