Actually - my client called the IRS and they said this was a SCAM!  

The person on the phone had a foreign accent - and perhaps - he wanted the client to pay him !!!  

The phone was 202 600 4561.  The guy said he was a Mr. Arthur

I am a licensed tax professional and I have client that was called by a similar number from Washington DC -- 202 600 4561 - this person claimed he was with the IRS.  He hung up on me as he said he doesn't speak to third parties.

For the record - all of the conspiracies that the IRS is chasing Republicans have been debunked and are simply talk radio - fantasy.  For example I am a liberal and I have been audited five times by the IRS - in the last six years.  I think conservatives want the story to be true -- as it gives them another reason to shutdown the IRS and shrink government.  

Nonetheless - I have no idea - what this number was.  The IRS person told him that either he pay the debt NOW or his passport would be revoked.  Client has a student visa.  Maybe it was the IRS - my client had unpaid taxes of about $10,000.   Weird.

I got this phone call today. They told me I owned them $5,100. They will sue me and police will investigate me. Call police if you see this number. It is scam.

Called at 4:20 pm yesterday.  I didn't hear it ring and they didn't leave a message.

Please calm down everyone... these are just scammers of some type.  They called my new company cell phone, so they don't know who they are calling.  Just dialing numbers.

This is very likely a spoofed number and that's why it can't be called back.

These are NRA fund raising phone calls and Mike Huckabee. They have at least five different phone numbers that they are calling from to my cell phone. I can't get them to stop. It's like Whack-A-Mole, if you stop one number from calling, another number starts calling. If you can block these phone numbers, do so. Unfortunately, I can't block numbers from my old cell phone.  Here's a list of numbers to block:

I'm afraid to say that you probably cannot press harassment charges if they are political.

I think you have hit on the correct explanaton. It's not from Dems nor Reps. These calls are simply pretending to be one or the other in order to relieve you of your money.

No sane political party manager would sanction such ridiculous tactics. I have worked on political campaigns before. The most likely scenario is that this is some over zealous left winger trying to turn people against their opponent. Have you ever read any of the books published about dirty political tactics? There are worse tactics than this, but this is one of them. Always thoroughly investigate before making conclusions about anything. All is not what it seems to be.

In reality, unless you actually talked with someone, you can't be sure who you talked to. I have a hard time believing Rev. Huckabee would harrass anyone. That would defeat ANY caller's purposes, as it would turn people OFF. There are plenty of scammers out there, making it LOOK as if they are someone they are not, so as to create animosity towards those people. Always be cautious in making 'decisions.'

I got the same "number disconnected" message, and I had called back immediately after the call came in. No one was there when I answered, and that is usually the case, so I don't know WHO called, but it goes on regularly......every day!!! The phone company could easily stop this. They know who owns every number!!!

This number was CLEARLY from the NRA.  Peabrains scrambling for someone to stop President Obama's gun control measures...BEFORE he's even announced what they are.  Classy NRA.  Very classy.  Good thing we've got your number...literally.

The number was definitely gleaned from a Republican list because last October I called the Romney campaign offering support, from all 3 of our phones, just to make them pay for the call. Today all 3 phones rang from this number. And, no one has my cell number (except these people) because I never give it out. My office number rings through to my cell when I am away. This number was certainly on a Republican list.

Called my work place and had this whole spiel about guns and the govt. Why are they calling my office? I don't have time for any calls like this what so ever! I pressed 9 (like it said) to be removed, but I don't know if that will work.  So annoying.

I got a call from this number this evening AFTER 8PM! Maybe some don't do to bed at this time but ( I was ready for bed!) I called the number back and no one answered I did hear a recording and is went something like this:

[ Were sorry you HAVE reached a number that has been dis-connected or is no longer in service, if you feal you have reached this number in error please hang up and dial the number again]

How can someone call you at 8:06 PM ... and You then RETURN the call back to that VERY SAME number that the call came from at 8:28PM which is 22 minutes after their ORIGINAL call to me. Then all of a Sudden this WASHINGTON, DC number is supposedly DIS~CONNECTED!!!

I am recording ALL CALLS and thei LOGGED time of Call to My phone and I will KEEP THIS LOG LOYALY and FAITHFULLY DAILY! Then, after Three JUST 3 CALLS I will have enouph to PRESS HARRASSEMENT CHARGES against them!
