So got a voice mail from same Mr Michael Brown again.This time from a different number and this time the phone did ring. They called from 2028641112 yesterday, but the message was the same. In the background I could hear someone speaking in Hindi/Urdu over the phone and he was saying 'you should have used your best judgment before attempting to commit Tax evasion'. Seems like a full fledged call center type setup. How can these b*****ds be brought down? Any ideas?

Same story as everyone else. Complete fraud. Guy with every thick Asian ascent & broken English claiming he is from the IRS, accusing me of fraud. He threatened to have me arrested. Buch of BS. Let him to get lost & hang the phone up.

Got a voicemail from these guys (Michael Brown). Interestingly, the phone did not ring, it just went straight to voice mail. I called them back from a different phone and told them a fake name and number, to which the guy said you are not in our database. I told them to stop calling and he started cussing me out, and then he started cussing me out in Urdu. Being a fluent speaker of Urdu, I cussed him right back. Seems like the dude is from Bangladesh, Pakistan or India. His speed at cussing wasnt as good as mine,so he hung up. I have made it my life's mission to call the number back everyday, from a different phone each day and give them a piece of my mind. ;-)

just received a voicemail on my cell phone from 202-600-8683. they stated this was the 2nd message they are leaving regarding an outstanding irs tax issue and if i do not call them back immediately, they will be sending law enforcement from my country to my front door and have me arrested. the 1st message i received was to my home. i contacted my local police department to inform them that i received this message. they stated as long as i did not speak with the person or give them any information not to worry about it. they said it is a scam that they are aware of and can not do anything about it. i offered them the phone number from the caller id and they said they are untraceable numbers unfortunately. it doesn't matter that you are on a 'do not call list' either. very annoying and frustrating to be bothered by these calls!

I received a call this morning from this person as well. Total scam.

- Claimed to be from the IRS
- Claimed there was a federal investigation
- Was probing to get personal information

Like other reports, I received a barely understandable voice message from a man with a heavy Indian accent who says he is "Michael Brown" from the "office of the Investigation Chief of the IRS".  Lots of background noise of others doing the same thing, an obvious boiler room operation.  Says if I do not reply immediately he "can only wish me a good life" because the "Law Enforcement will be on my doorstep soon."  A total Joke.  I can appreciate a clever scam, but this is such total and obvious BS it does not deserve the stature of a scam.  Ignore it.

Just received a call from the "IRS Fraud Unit" investigator, Mr. Mumbled Name in a South Asian accent, informing me that there was a "warrant out for my arrest" and was I aware of that? My caller ID identified the call as coming from a Washington DC #202-600-8683.  I suspected it was a scam but rather than hang up, I decided to irritate him a bit. I asked what this was in regard to and first he said I made foreign purchases without paying the proper taxes(I didn't), then said I sent money outside of the U.S. to my "home country"(which is the U.S.). At this point I said, "I think YOU'RE a fraud and I'm going to report you and your number to the police, and even then he said he would send the local police to my door to arrest me.I called my local police and they said, it was a common scam number but there was nothing they could do to track it. They just advised I should not give any additional info to what he already had(name,phone and home address).

This number belong to a Scammer. DO NOT FALL VICTIM TO HIS SCAM!
