They call monthly. ...... but don't say anything and doesn't leave a message......

I have been getting daily calls. Also from a collection that was cleared in 1998, almost 15 years ago, for $35. Ugh. Like I have time for this.

Friends.....

This number is a collection agency.   A particularly sleazy one, in my opinion.

I get calls from them on a regular basis.  I now have their number blocked from ringing.

Like many here have offered, they are seeking someone who doesn't live here for a bad debt.  Actually, the guy they're searching for has my same name--different SS number.

This has been going on for over 2 1/2 years--but not always the same collection agency.

Here's the deal......

There are these "Bottom Feeder" collection agencies who 'buy-up' collections on long over-due debt and then try to collect.  They get the name, address, SS # and phone number of the bad debt and try to contact.  But....others have already tried this with no success so, the "geniuses" sitting in those rows of office cubicles wearing the head sets for $9.00 per hour get the brilliant idea of "Googling" that name.
Google returns "X" number of people bearing that name and these Bottom Feeders start calling them.  Over...and over....and over....etc.

They finally get fed up with a lack of success and  sell that collection off to some other Bottom Feeding outfit and, lo and behold, one of the little "geniuses" sitting in a cubicle making $9.00 per hour gets the bright idea of Googling the name.  Google returns "X" number of people bearing that name...and the whole thing starts all over again.

Do what I did and get a "Call Blocker".  
There are several available for sale on the net.  Mine blocks 80 numbers--entire area codes count as one number--or you can block a particular number.  You can even block certain area codes with a specific prefix for the companies who have an entire "Block" of numbers from which their computers attempt to call.
Oh...and mine comes factory set to block "blocked" or "Out Of Area" calls and doesn't count against the 80 number memory.

Best $100 bucks I ever spent.  Worth every penny!!!

This number called my cell phone. When I did not pick it up,my house phone,which we never use,Rang, Same Number 10 seconds later.

You can sue the knickers off these scammers if they do report you to a credit bureau---if you can find them to serve them papers.

Received a call yesterday about a Doubleday book club debt of $40 from 10 years ago. I returned the books to that company long time ago. I told her never to call again and she was very rude and said it was going on my credit report. There is a 6yr filing limit here in MI so we will see if it goes on my report.

New nuisance call, from Wash. DC.  I never answer these from numbers I do not know, unless waiting for a call back from a Dr. or other party, then I usually know what number will be calling.

Don't call "ME"

They call under different numbers and Unknown Name. When I answer they say "Please hold for an important message."  I am not holding Dude!!  You called me, remember?

AKA: T1-12 COLO.  This company is HARASSING me for a debt I DO NOT EVEN HAVE.

I tried the same tactic with about 4 collections agencies when I received my phone number a year ago. The person/persons before me must have really tallied some debts because I was getting no less than 5-7 calls a day from collections companys. I was very polite in explaining that I had only had the number for a few months (at that time), no I did not know these people and no I had no idea where they could find them or their next of kin but could they kindly adjust their information to reflect this?  It got ugly FAST! Only one of the companies actually took me off their calling list.  The others began calling at all hours of the day and night to "test" when I was at home and therefore the best times to call and get a fresh person on the phone. At one point, one of the callers became very threatening to me.  They had all played along and pretended to be very nice in the beginning but they are not paid to be nice. They are paid on a commission, they are basically debt bounty hunters if you will and they will strattle the law or break it if they have to.  I wish you luck, I am still trying to get the last one to stop harrassing me and it's not my debt.  In fact it sounds like the last one is not even a legal collections company in the US.

Got yet another call from this company today.  This time it was an auto-dialer that blared musak into the phone as soon as I answered it.  I have had issues with this company before and have even had some rather nasty/threatening remarks from one of their callers regarding a former user of this phone number.  I stopped answering for a while and it seemed to stop but it looks like they are testing the waters again.

Depends on what phone service you have.  ATT does NOT do this, at least not for free.  I purchased a Panasonic phone with this feature on it...downside is it only holds 30 numbers!  But it does help!

These people are BAD----Just got a call and the number on caller ID was: 877-788-1060.  When I did an "Edit" on my call block phone system, it brought up the number: 202-607-2732 in addition to the 1060 #.  Deception to the inth degree!  BCR collections......I don't owe anyone!!!!  But I will NEVER answer these kinds of calls anyway, it just gives them the knowledge that it is a legitimate number that they are calling.  Both numbers are now on my call block feature!

We've had our number since 9/09. Collection agencies call us looking for Mona P, Isabel R, or Karen D.  I beginning to think that these 3-bimboes lived together at some point in the distant past and blew town owing everyone.

I called DCR back at 877.788.1060 and a very nice gentlemen said he'd take our number off their list.  He was very apologetic.  I was very polite which is a new tactic for me.

We'll see if it happens.  If you don't answer or do something, they will keep calling.  The computer won't give up just because you don't answer.  Unfortunately, collection agencies are not subject to the do not call regs, if, in fact, you owe someone and you account has been turned over to them for collection.  If you are not the person they are looking for, you need to tell them, and remember honey works better than vinegar.

Must be a scumbag bottom of the barrel collection agency who buys up old debts then tries to find someone to pay them. Lady was looking for my daughter who doesn't live here- she asked if there was a spouse, and I said no.. I asked who she was again, she gave her name. I asked who was calling, she said 'BCR'. When I asked what that was, she said have a nice day and hung up! Didn't wanna tell me what she was up to.

BCR 202-607-2732 and 1-877-788-1065 is a fraudulent collection agency that preys on the innocent. They scam people by stating they owe money to some company or other, even though the victim does not. Real collection agencies are getting bad raps because of scammers like BCR. The FCC needs to shut down BCR!

All you have to do is tell your friends, relatives ect. that you are now serving in the military in Afghanistan and say that the number is in Kabul. My friend starts to speak in Russian and interupts the exasperated female with "What?" a lot.

I have been on the DO NOT CALL list forever!!  It doesn't stop any calls...in fact, that's where they get everyone's telephone number.  I have contacted the state attorney generals office...again, they also do nothing.

they called me and hang up ...when i return their call some one ask me for my tel no when i gave it to him ,he told me he need my social security to pull my case up ......i hanged up ....they try to collect your information by telling you they want to check your case, don't give them anything.....

Very interesting. They started calling me today. Called once and I told them they had the wrong person. Called again about a half hour later and asked the same B.S. quetions. Scary thing is they had my first and last name correct but social was wrong as well as age an prior address. Not sure if they were trying to get me to give them my social or not. I have a listed land line so I would assume that is where they got my name.
