The recording says "dog" and then hangs up. That is the message on my voice mail, I haven't answered it personally yet.

Someone just called -- it said "Washington, D.C" -- and a recording very quickly splurted out a number of a poll and then quickly asked, "Do you own a small dog?"  As I tried to decide whether my dog would be considered a small dog or not, the recording said "Please answer "yes" or "no." I answered no and caller/recording hung up.

This is scam.  They are trying to record you saying "Yes" or "No" so they can have your voice authorization on tape and purchase things in your name.  DO NOT ANSWER!!! HANG UP IMMEDIATELY AND REPORT TO THE FCC!!!

Read: http://consumerist.com/2010/09/keep-your-smal ... ed-to-know.html

Report here: http://esupport.fcc.gov/complaints.htm

Also see if your phone company has a service to block specific numbers like Time Warner Cable does.

It's the Pied Piper of HAMELIN.  If you are going to call incorrect spelling, you should have words spelled incorrectly in your reply.

Political Call
I get at least a call a day from this number. At least caller ID says Wadhington DC. There is another annoying caller who ID's with a non existant area code with a phone number of 000-XXXX where XXXX seems to be random numbers, call to call. Maybe I should answer and just see who they claim to be!

Received message asking if we owned a small dog....thought it may be someone "casing" households to see if there were dogs to contend with and how large.... going to report to police as there have been a # of area breakins. Saw your message and ditto "thanks". SO irritating!

From the web, it's a Republican push poll company, ccAdvertising.com.  The owner brags that he's the best voter suppression expert around.   The idea is to make people hate their phone during an election cycle.

Mitt Romney sued the Huckabee campaign for using this company.  The idea is to get people so angry that when a legitimate campaign calls, people will decide not to vote at all.  The calls will be targeted in areas where the opposition is strongest.

The company paid a $20,000 fine in North Dakota.  A federal judge enjoined them from ever calling Indiana (or was it Idaho, Iowa) again.

I got the same call, with the same question.
I filed a complaint with do not call registry, the ftc and state consumer fraud agency.
Lady at FTC said the problem is a possible scam where they get your recorded response and then use it as if you are agreeing to something else.
This is not a hate group, or someones political campaign, it is just something trying to get a recording of you saying yes or no, and then using it for something else.
I am in IL.

Robocall said "This is survey 2010. Do you own a small dog?"  Probably a scam to get you say "yes" so that they have evidence you agreed to pay them something.

I too live in Illinois and am on the do not call registry. I got the same robocall yesterday afternoon, caller ID said Washington DC, asking "Do you own a small dog?". Some garbled message at the end. I called the number back to see who it was and I got a full voicemail with a greeting that sounded like darth vader... someone breathing into a mask or something.

Please read this article in the Cleveland news and call the number for the FTC listed and report the call.
http://www.cleveland.com/consumeraffairs/inde ... nce_survey.html

The FTC indicated that they are getting tons of calls right now about the same thing and the more info we give them the better they can catch these scumbags. They will give you a FTC complaint number after you file your complaint and will notify you if they find out from their investigation that you may be at risk for identity theft or fraud.

FYI: Here is the correct way to spell that big political noun in your message: P-O-L-I-T-I-C-I-A-N. No wonder so many low information voters continue to vote against their own well-being when they can't even spell political terminology correctly. Think of all the mis-guided folks following the Tea Party candidates like blind mice following the Pied Piper of Hameln. Give them power and they will drown our country.

I tried to call this number back and they said, voice mailbox filled, try your call later. Do you think we should be concerned, me like a dummy said yes to the answer, I was not thinking and thought it was a survey.
