It goes further than that. Phone company and directory information is shared and/or sold. Each and EVERY entity you deal with has separate privacy policies concerning your information. They may even have separate policies for online and offline activities. These policies include subsidiaries and numerous "third parties." Once you establish a business relationship with one of these entities, an unwanted chain reaction can begin in the form of phone calls. In some cases, it may be near impossible to stop.

QWest & Centurylink sell your info if you switch your phone to another company & put you on calling lists. Go to white pages & remove your name on line. My info was so wrong out there I couldn't believe it. Do this right away & protect yourself.

Would you mind explaining what leads you to conclude that the Alliance Defense Fund organization is responsible for the calls showing 202-643-1953 as the originating number?

I did look at the ADF website and "The Issues" listed as being their focus of concern would seem to have nothing to do with the price of gas or the other reported content of these calls.  

I did read the Wikipedia article and could find nothing there that suggests this "Alliance Defense Fund" engages in or promotes robo-calling.  

If some of the calls did (and I don't know that they did) identify the caller as "This is the Alliance Defense Fund calling to conduct a survey", there have been a multitude of different names used with no confirmation that is the actual organization calling.

I'm not saying that you are incorrect, just that I can't find any validation that you are correct.

The caller ID read 030-011-1906 The man had a foreign accent I think he was Indian.Claims they have a warrent for my arrest. NOT TRUE. THIS NEEDS TO STOP.

Just called the 480-444-0020 number and the receptionist was very nice, hopefully that will work.  Since she's a receptionist, I spared her any editorializing about the whole idea and robo-calling.  For that, I suggest you ask to speak to someone in management.

It's a long distance call, but the 800 number was always busy.  Hope that means we're all burning up those phone lines letting them know how we feel.

I have been getting calls from 202-643-1953 every morning for the past several days.  The caller's "name" says ART INT SRV.  I do not answer and they leave an automated message on my recorder saying they will try again later.

I have been on the DO NOT CALL list for several years and I object to these calls!  Please do something to stop these crooks!

Your explanation seems reasonable.   As I had received "educational" calls somewhat disguised as surveys from the American Petroleum Institute (actually, one of their subgroups) before, I may have jumped to conclusions on this one.   With those former calls, it was possible to identify the actual company hired to do the calling and those calls all had live operators.   Considering the multiple organizations with nearly identical messages/surveys supposedly being represented by calls from this number (real or spoofed) and also that very similar survey type calls are being made from other numbers (real or spoofed) as well, it could well be that these are not political calls on behalf of the stated organizations, but some kind of scam.

I Called the 800 number... Selected #2 to speak to someone.  I took time to explain to her that they should not be calling me or anyone who has put their name on do-not-call list.  I had to repeat the process after the first person I talked to hanged up after 10 minutes of conversation.  

I believe if a lot of people do that and ask not to be contacted "under the guise of survey", they will stop doing that (i.e. calling people on the do-not-call list).  But again they seem to be a fundamentalist organization.  For such people bending or breaking the law (e.g. do-not-call) is justified for a greater good (themselves).

Caller ID ART INT SRV, recorded voice, "this is a political survey, are you registered", have called 3 or 4 times in the last 2 weeks.

Received call - asking if I thought gas prices were too high..... without thinking I said Yes.  Now I'm worried... I put a Yes to something that is not kosher - so to speak.  I  hope someone figures this out. It has to stop.

I received a call from this number and no one replied. This is not the first time I received a call from them. Caller ID ART. INT SRV who ever that is.

They can make these calls because they are not selling things.  Politcal calls, surveys and charities are exempt from the Do Not Call List.  The only way to get this to change is by changing the laws.  I have asked my legislators about this.  This is a DNCL loophole.  And if they are offering free info, they can call too.  As long as they are not soliciting a sale at that point but giving info on if you are interested in learning more about X please call XXX-XXX-XXXX, then they can call.

Called 9-11-2011 @ 15:58, left no message on perfectly working recorder.  Not worth my time, either.

this number keeps showing up on my call log. I called it back to see who it was from and a recording mentioned it was an important survey. I don't want this to continue!!!

AND any time there is an automated call, it is another person out of a job...like me. maybe the ART INT SRV stands for artificial intelligence service.. so any number with that name is automated..?
