I just want to make you all aware that when you apply by phone and or the internet for your "free annual credit reports" that the scammers are getting your information from the credit reporting bureaus under false pretense..

This is definitely a scam in my opinion.  Don't give these people any of your personal information.  I just got off the phone with them called 12026448750.  The first representative was totally rude and wouldn't provide any of his company info. So I called back and spoke to a women representative who told me the company is PVL Service located at 7804 Fairview Road, Suite 285, Charlotte North Carolina 28226.  I then googled the address to only find out that it is a UPS ... probably a PO Box.

Rolling on the floor when i heard this message, have not used a paper check in over 10 years, have not bought checks in over 10 years, use debit cards for everything, so no cash in account means no transaction , and i go on my bank website 2-3 time a week!!

Get google voice free and block these idiots!!

ive been getting calls from a victoria london saying my drivers liscence has been linked to a bad check.. the calls are unwanted and they are a scam!

was left message concerning bad check connected to my drivers license number and SS# by a fraud department( no name) . Glad I checked out the number left for me to call.  Will always check with my bank before any phone call!

called said that was a fradulanet check with my name being investigated. and said they had my ssi number and drivers licences, check with my bank first , also i dont write checks, called them asked what they wanted, and they didnt seem to know what to do with me then i asked if it was a phishing scam... end of converstion....

I visited Advance America's website http://www.advanceamerica.net/ . They had a link titled SCAM ALERT. I clicked it and below is what appeared.

Also, the original call that left me a message (with the 202 phone number) was 713-422-2759. This is a Houston Texas area code (where I live).

Tips to avoid becoming a victim of this scam:

   Never give your Social Security number?or personal information of any kind?over the telephone or online unless you initiate the contact.
   Be suspicious of any e-mail with urgent requests for personal financial information. The e-mail may include upsetting or exciting but false statements to get you to react immediately.
   Avoid filling out forms in e-mail messages that request personal information.
   Ensure that your browser is up-to-date and security patches have been applied.
   Check your bank, credit, and debit card statements regularly to make sure that there are no unauthorized transactions. If anything looks suspicious, contact your bank and all card issuers.
   When you contact companies, use numbers provided on the back of cards or statements

Getting phone calls from number on husbands phone. I thought right away scam! And now after reading these post. I am going to the police and filing a police report. and i am not going to call.

recieved a message requesting I call this number as they had posted a bad check to my social security number and driver licsence. I called telechek to verifiy this they stated no negative information was found linked to my social or drivers licsence. This is a scam of some sort.

Debt collector (most likely), poor attitude, my case actually was a check fraud case.  They have represented themselves at check investigators.  I have dealt with this particular issue for nearly seven years.  I have written the consumer collection agencies and they have released me based upon my documentation/proof.  They have been rude and hung up on me, making vague threats.  Don't waste your time.  Don't answer.

415-735-5349. I had the pleasure of speaking with a Samantha Jones and to someone whom I didn't catch his name. In any case, he claimed to be an attorney for a check that I wrote, in which I don't write checks. Who do we report these type of things to??

I verified last 4 of my social and address to him.  He threatened me too. This is scary... Ihave never got any loans like that.

kIM, hE DID SAME THING TO ME WHEN i ASKED MORE DETAILS. i HAVE NEVER GOTTEN ANY LOANS FROM ANYPLACE LIKE THAT. Its a scam for sure, lots of these going around latelly. How disturbing!

I got a phone call from these so called "collectors" about a bad check I wrote to "Advanced America" The first guy I spoke to told me that "my momma gun whoop my a** for bein such a bad naughty girl" Which was my first clue that this is a scam, then I was transferred to some woman (whose tampon fuse had long been lit) that proceeded to yell at me about my debt and how they have video surveillance of me using my drivers licence (which I have never had one)

This is not real! My sister was getting calls at my home from this company a few months ago. They threatened to sue her and throw her in jail. She was young and thought it was true! I told her about the statue of limitations and told her to call a lawyer. She did and he quickly said it was a scam. Then today they called my home for me. When I told them it was a scam and knew it. They did not like that and started yelling and cursing at me and telling me that me and my sister were the "scam artists" who needed to pay their bills. I told them if they wanted the money to sue me. They said they didnt want to because they just wanted to resolve it with me! I also asked for the other parts of my SSN and she didnt have it. She tried to convince me by giving me my address. However, I didnt fall for it and she became irrate. She then tried to tell me a bank account and bank name I had at the time, yet it was wrong as my bank was bought out years after I had a checking account with them, but she said it was the name of the new bank. uh, no! I cursed at her and told her to stop calling my home and that I wasn't paying any money. Don't be scammed!

I received an automated call from this number purporting to be for a Hudson Spencer (not my name) in regard to some kind of check fraud.

The same lady called me and i expland that i had filed this in my bankruptcy and she reply that this could not be filed becouse it was a bad check . Well i told her thay did . Vicoria London continue to call and said i comited check fraud . She had a man named he said David Cole and said Id be arrested if i did not pay today . He said 700 over 4 months two payments 250 over 2 months or 414 now . I did the 414.00 and than seen all the complants and I rush to my bank and got it stop before thay got any . Thanks to you all for your info  or thay would of made me a victim. Im mad at myselfe for letting some a** to pressure me till I would give . Not agine

I have contacted Advance America about this; this is not a valid arbitration service for Advance America, according to two agents and a supervisor that I spoke with.

I recieved another call today from these people and yes it will scare the mess out of you because to get a phone call saying this is a check fraud investigator calling and you absolutly have no idea what they are talking about telling you your social security number and drivers license number has been linked to a bad  check from 2005 and its now 2012 something is wrong with this after all these years friom Advance of Amercia payday loan i have no knowledge of at all they calls me 786-350-3931 all the time and now today from 202-644-8750 said i should call and ask for a Latoya London but i go on line and see that other people say its a Victoria London but im not gonna worry im going to notify all the proper authorities.

Yes, they called me from a Florida number only to find out I had to call another number in DC I did have a payday loan through AA at one time, but it is paid off completely has been for years. I will not call them and verify my ssn or my dl #, that would be stupid, if you have a bad check out there, the county prosecutor will contact you is what I found out, not some random company with different numbers all over the country!

Also left a garbled message about a fraudulent check using my SS#.  Couldn't understand who the person was who left message nor could I understand company they were calling on behalf.  It was a very poor recording, but the message resonated with a scare tactic and ended with telling me to call 202.6.44.8750.  Caller ID said call came from 206-219-4300, a Seattle, WA number.

The only way to get rid of these companies is to write 1. "Cease calling" letters (certified+receipt mail)   2.keep track of day & time they call (keep in mind when they got the letter)   3. Contact a lawyer   4.Sue their butts off!   It works and I've been doing it.Not only do they have to stop calling but they have to pay your lawyer and *you* per call :)  If anybody can figure out this companies real name and address it could help us all :)

Hello! I am so glad that I googled this number- the same thing has happened to me 2x now! Once in April and I spoke to a woman who told me that I was going to have to go to court to settle a debt of nearly $1000 from Advance America- I paid them back!!! Why the hell are they coming after me... 8 years later?! That is PAST the statute of limitation for a bad check in the state of California ANYWAYS!!! I will report this as you have. This is crazy!! I am sorry this has happened to you, but I am glad that I am not the only one dealing with this pain in the a**. I will NOT fall for it, Thank you again for your comments below! I will talk to some lawyer friends of mine and see what they recommend. Best of luck to you, victim of the same scam!
